Damn. That sounded like an absolutely mental game.

I thought Nemeth had been called up to the senior squad anyways?

eurosport 2, sky 411 at 11pm looks like 90 minutes highlights of todays action.

don't think Nemeth has played for the senior side but he and Koman are the stars of that team. Koman will miss the next match because of suspension and a few others will be banned too. They play Ghana so god knows what the quality is like. Simon was poor and subbed after an hour but he should be fresh

I was also hugely impressed with Mustacchio for the italians especially in the 2nd half and when they were a man down, he really stepped up. played on the right and made lots of strong runs down the channels and into the box. he is going to be a player, the rest were so so.

We really could do with one youngster breaking through. Especially taking the financial uncertainty of the club in consideration. But Rafa waits too long before he gives the youngster a half chance! The result of that is that we have not seen anyone come through for him. Insua is the exception.

I really have high hopes for Martin Kelly and Nemeth. But i also fear they wont make it unless we get a different manager....

I don't think our scouting system is so bad compared to that of Arsenal. It's just that they coach and back their kids, while we are a bit directionless once we acquire a young talent.

one of the best players for the italians, Mattia Mustacchio. 20 year old attacking midfielder.

He was incredible for them and definitely one to watch in the future.

He's got to do well with a surname like that. I do hope he'll actually grow a tache as well - preferably one like this:

I watched him (on TV) in the ressies game and my god he was stylish. You half forget what a classy player he is. It's just another level of quality completely. If he keeps his fitness this time he'll be so good in the team.

But but but.. Skrtel is the better defenderr!!!!!

Don't let his style fool you, but Agger is a shit passer of the ball!!!!!!!

Fucking Skrtel fanboys..

He also has a Drogba like talent for exagerating contact in order to win free kicks and in last nights case get one player sent off and almost a second.

He wouldn't stick out in a Chelsea shirt.

Stoke City midfielder Liam Lawrence has been named in the Republic of Ireland team to face Italy in Saturday's FIFA World Cup qualifier at Croke Park (8pm).

Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni says he is rewarding Lawrence for his match-winning display against South Africa last month when he scored a superb goal in only his second outing at international level.

"Lawrence against South Africa, he convinced me. He has two or three different qualities to other players," said Trap.

"When I told him (that he was playing), he wasn't emotional. That's important because sometimes players go red with shyness. He is experiencd and it was an important signal to me."

The Stoke City playmaker lines up on the right-wing, with Aiden McGeady to operate on the opposite flank. The central midfield pairing will be Glenn Whelan and Keith Andrews.

Richard Dunne and Sean St. Ledger have both recovered from the knocks which required them to miss some training earlier in the week to take the central-defence berths, flanked by full-backs John O'Shea and Kevin Kilane. Goalkeeper Shay Given will earn cap number 99.

Captain Robbie Keane will play alongside Kevin Doyle in attack.

Ireland team v Italy: Shay Given (Manchester City); John O'Shea (Manchester Utd), Richard Dunne (Aston Villa), Sean St Ledger (Middleborough), Kevin Kilbane (Hull City); Liam Lawrence (Stoke City), Glenn Whelan (Stoke City), Keith Andrews (Blackburn Rovers), Aidan McGeady (Celtic); Kevin Doyle (Wolves), Robbie Keane (Tottenham Hotspur).

Green sent off for pulling down a man in the box, Sheva missed the penalty.

Think there are only 6 people in the UK who have subscribed. All from Yeovil.

Ashely Cole og.
1-0 Ukraine.

I wonder how the media will blame Johnson for that one...

From the Beeb:

A change at half-time for England. James Milner is on for Steven Gerrard, who must have picked up an injury... Apparently, Steven Gerrard was rubbing his thigh as he came off.

Please god no.

According to Sky Sports he came off because he was injured. Let's hope it's a pre caution.... I HATE Internationals.

Thought it was strange, he was pulling the strings for us at the end of the first half so couldnt work out why he'd gone.

God David Pleats a cock, his commentary is always appalling. 17 mins gone first half, he said "Well, Ukraine have, erm, a half, plus, erm, another full half, to make this extra man count. That's a lot of time". Such an almighty cock.

Hopefully as a precaution then. We can't afford to have him injured against Sunderland and Utd.
