I wanNaby (Under the sea in an Octopus's Garden in the Shade) - Deal Confirmed

Ooooh interesting. Ralf has said RB Leipzig would consider a third bid.

Back to camp campers. @Barba Roja. Take a shower man, you stink.
wakes up and blinks - That kiff was a madman! I dreamt that we're completely fucked with transfers..... I got a bit paranoid and thought every club was out there to stiff us royally..... I blame myself.🙁

*Rocks off to the shower and trips over same guide rope*

He's not out of contract at end of season. Only that his release clause kicks in. Presumably he will still be interested in joining us, should we requalify for Champions League. But also presumably we will have competition for his signature given the release clause.
Oh, yes. Forgot about that.

Yes article says next summer however if you read the quote it says what we have said all along. If we bid enough, he will come.

If he doesn't come this summer, he won't come at all. If he does come, it will be because coutinho has left.

In this case I'd rather have Keita now and let Coutinho go for an obscene fee.
Coutinho Will probably go next summer, so I'd rather make sure we have Keita + a Lot of money.

Looks like Leipzig just realised that they'll "only" get 48 next summer so I guess they want to sell now.

At the start of the transfer window I would have said that selling Coutinho to get Van Dijk and Keita for roughly the same money doesn't really move us forward. We had the funds for VVD and Keita without selling Phil and if we did sell him, I wanted that money to go toward a top-class striker, like Aubumeyang or Mbappe. That would have been progress.

However, now that I think there is a real danger of us losing Coutinho and buying no one at all, I would be quite happy with that exchange. Again, it probably wouldn't move us forward, but it would at least avoid setting us back, which is a very real possibility after this shambles of a window. Realistically though, I think the most likely outcome is that we keep Coutinho for one more season (his "back injury" is miraculously cured on August 31st and he comes back to the squad after issuing a formal statement of apology to his teammates and the club) and buy no one. Keita and Van Dijk will end up elsewhere.

My best case scenario, and actually what I think is most likely is keeping Coutinho and getting VVD, which is pretty decent for us. Sadly I think Keita is long gone, I'll stay at camp, but it's blind hope now more than anything. I can't shake this feeling that something will happen with Oxlaid too.

I think Naby and Van Dijk for Coutinho would make us a better team, with one caveat; Moreno is not on the pitch.

Would be an even better team if we simply keep coutinho and have keita and van dijk. Cant see southampton selling and the keita deal looks dead for this season.

I'd go back in January for Keita. Offer 60m and tell them each week that offer drops by 3m. So if you wait til the end of the window you get the release clause figure.

Then i'd look on as someone else signs him

I think it was this window or nothing for him. If he has another season equal to last season, then regardless of us meeting his asking price next summer, or going back in for him in Jan - so will the bigger clubs and he'll move there.

Just thought I'd see how you guys still in this camp are doing. I'll see myself out now.

Probably humming:

And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
Be running up that road
Be running up that hill
Be running up that building
See if I only could

This states that we have already submitted an offer of £66m however Rangnick is saying :

“But we must weigh it up. If we let Keita go for €70-80m this year, what more would that bring us compared to the sum we would get next year?”

However, with Keita showcasing his talent in the Champions League for the first time this season, Rangnick admitted that sometimes players outgrow their club too quickly and they have to be allowed to move on, hinting at Keita’s exit next summer. “Sometimes, players develop even faster than the club,” Rangnick added.
“When he plays a season like last year and, if possible, in the Champions League too - then we might be able to let a player join a big club and live with it.
-------------

Well €70m is £64m so there is no doubt we are very close and from Rangnick's comments it sounds like it could still happen (maybe that's even an invitation to make it happen) .... maybe it is all down to CL group qualification.

Considering how desperate we are for a CM and CB this would fill one slot admirably. Keep Coutinho and sign a CB and from all doom and gloom we could end up saying we'd had a great window !

OK.... I'm starting to crack here.

He'll end up at Chelsea. They have a massive need in the middle of the pitch and he'd been great for them. Willian Mk2.

Kante & bakayoko ... they don't need another DM

He's not just a DM. He's box to box and would be an upgrade on Matic.

They only have Kante, Bakayoko and Fabregas in the middle of the park. To compete on four fronts they are as thin as we are. Talk of Luiz playing in midfield this weekend.
