I wanNaby (Under the sea in an Octopus's Garden in the Shade) - Deal Confirmed

I'm an optimist mate. But knowing us we'll probably offer 57 mill again, but with a different payment structure...

I too am an optimist, but this only extends as far as the player being ace and being right for us. When it comes to our ability to close the deal on a transfer without fuss and interminable wrangling, I'm afraid I'm a realist. We're hopeless in this department. Embarrassingly incompetent. Look at Utd signing Lukaku. It was fucking ninja. Meanwhile we're tripping over our own feet like protagonists in a slapstick comedy. We're the Norman Wisdom of the transfer market.

Thats true mate. Utd closed that Lukaku signing very quickly. Which was a bit surprising given Woodward has been pretty average so far.
Must be the relationship with Raiola.

The negotiation part fills me with fear and that we could end up fucking up a deal that was possible to do.
Its happened to many times, sadly.

The (sometimes) haggling over payment structure or a small amount in the offer to save some money, has probably ended up costing us a shitload instead with signing some alternative that didnt work out.

They do however deserve credit for the Salah deal.

They dragged that out too though. That was what, 3 weeks in the making? Honestly, I was half expecting Chelsea to come in and nab him all over again.

Yeah, thats true. Part of our negotiation tactic seem to be that the player has to push for the move, and that we're constantly lowballing with our offers. It will only work if there arent any other clubs bidding or interested, or if the player is adamant he wants us.
If not, we'll miss out.

Yeah you really really can't compare those two. Not only was Lukaku going to go all Summer long but he was going with Everton's blessing to bankroll their Summer spending. The only surprise was it was to United but then it's not really a surprise, even then, to hear that United would pay Raiola whatever he wanted ... I'm sure there are numerous shenanigans from the United+Raiola dealings that will see the light of day eventually.

Why is it we are lowballing when a club quote a fee £20m above the going rate but we are then berated by our own fans for paying over the odds when we end up paying it ? Shouldn't we at least try to save some money here and there (which we probably manage to do, saving maybe £3-5m on multiple deals; Salah, VVD, Keita) ? Isn't that worth something though ?

I'm sure we'd all be more willing to think positively if we didn't have a catastrophic record in this regard. We absolutely made a balls of the VVD pursuit with a massively ill conceived press leak. We lost Salah the first time round through wrangling over the odd million. It is also increasingly obvious 70m is not 20m above the going rate. If Gyfi whatever you call him is being touted for 50m, then I'm afraid this IS the going rate. He was thought to be worth 50m before we saw the way the prices were panning out in this transfer window. If this player is everything he is meant to be, he is worth significantly more than Gyfi.

I do often wonder if our transfer business seems to get reported more.... seems always to me that every move we make is put in the press whereas other teams seem to be more cloak and dagger.

Is it just a case that Liverpool get more stories in the media sometimes because there is definitely the viewership online to look at such stories?

No doubt, Raiola would have made it more straightforward in getting the player onside. But the fact is that Everton were in a strong position with at least two very rich clubs competing for Lukaku, meaning they could extract top dollar. Utd didn't attempt to take advantage of their (no doubt illicit) relationship with Raiola (and thus the fact that they knew they were Lukaku's preferred destination) to take the piss out of Everton. They went in with a generous offer and then they improved upon it in a manner that Everton couldn't refuse. We would have offered 50m and then engaged in a protracted and agonising negotiation. You know this.

Errrr Hamman saying that if we buy him, then we're gonna need a DM as he isn't really one?! I'm sure Didi watches more of the german league than I do, so I'll take his word for it. I thought this fella would be taking the DM role if he came in? Seems Coutinho would take a spot, then he'd take a spot, and someone out of Henderson/Can/Wijnaldum would have to sit behind them currently.

Don't take Hamman's word for anything! Honestly Mors. Just don't. Both Can and Hendo (and Lucas– I believe he's going when it happens) can play deep, but we may see other kinds of formation that allow for greater flexibility.

Didi is pretty much always wrong, about everything

Liverpool apparently had a fresh £57million bid for the RB Leipzig midfielder rejected yesterday.
Jurgen Klopp has already bolstered his ranks this summer with the signings of Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah.
But he is keen to bring in more fresh faces as he bids to mount a Premier League title challenge and compete in the Champions League next season.
RB Leipzig are determined to keep hold of the Guinea international with the club's sporting director Ralf Rangnick insisting that none of his players are for sale this summer.

However, Jurgen Klopp is willing to break the bank to sign him and could lodge an improved offer.
And AIPS media journalist Williams reckons Liverpool may be able to break the Bundesliga side's resolve if they do put forward an even bigger bid.

He also outlined Keita is desperate to sign for the Reds and it could be a 'formality' that he joins the club this summer.
Williams said on Twitter: "Keita is desperate to move Liverpool but RB Leipzig will not move on their "not for sale" stance.

Liverpool could lodge an improved bid to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita
"RB Leipzig may deal at an improved figure. Balance in favour of a LFC move has tipped."
He added: "It could be a "formality" now that Keita moves to Liverpool during this window according to some within the German club."
Keita made 31 Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig last season and scored eight goals as they finished second in the German top flight.
He is contracted to the club until the summer of 2020.

Personally felt this article gave quite an insight to what type of player he is. Might want to have a read. 🙂

We don't play with a DM and that isn't changing anytime soon, sorry pal.

Read on another site that there is some Twittertwatter about a bid now being accepted. Just the payment structure to be agreed. Permission given to talk to the player.

Hopefully confirmed soon. Would be fantastic if true.

Thank fuck. My dick smells like sex and I aint had no sex.

This campsite is beyond gnarly.

Let's bring this deal home campers. Looks like we won't have to eat Lewy after all. Although a celebratory bbq would be a pretty nice way to seal the deal. That hooch we made with curry powder is just about ripe too. Partay time!!

Also rumours that he hasn't joined training due to some stomach bug.

He isn't a dedicated DM, which is lucky because Klopp has said multiple times, though our fanbase adamantly refuses to believe him, that we don't play with a DM !

@binny, yep, it looks like didi was right based on that article :s good/great player but not a dm

I doubt we would be letting Lucas go if we didn't have someone close to signing. Whether that's Keita, I don't know.

I'm now just awaiting the RedBull Post (or whatever the fuck their local paper is called), to tweet "RB will reject the 65m bid"

Then we can leak & tweet another figure, & another, until they agree, then just get the deal done.

Surely gotta be easier than actually negotiating directly with the club.
