Liverpool apparently had a fresh £57million bid for the RB Leipzig midfielder rejected yesterday.
Jurgen Klopp has already bolstered his ranks this summer with the signings of Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah.
But he is keen to bring in more fresh faces as he bids to mount a Premier League title challenge and compete in the Champions League next season.
RB Leipzig are determined to keep hold of the Guinea international with the club's sporting director Ralf Rangnick insisting that none of his players are for sale this summer.
However,
Jurgen Klopp is willing to break the bank to sign him and could lodge an improved offer.

Liverpool may be able to break the Bundesliga side's resolve if they do put forward an even bigger bid.
He also outlined Keita is desperate to sign for the Reds and it could be a 'formality' that he joins the club this summer.
Williams said on Twitter: "Keita is desperate to move Liverpool but RB Leipzig will not move on their "not for sale" stance.

Liverpool could lodge an improved bid to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita
"RB Leipzig may deal at an improved figure. Balance in favour of a LFC move has tipped."
He added: "It could be a "formality" now that Keita moves to Liverpool during this window according to some within the German club."
Keita made 31 Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig last season and scored eight goals as they finished second in the German top flight.
He is contracted to the club until the summer of 2020.
