I heard the Newcastle game was made in the same factory as the Burnley game etc

Dont think we can win this. I have written us off this year for all competitions we are fucked. Very inconsistent side and the only way to feel good about our team is not to expect a win but hope we do.

We lose this one.

Midweek game + our form isn't great + they'll defend deep and in numbers and wait for the inevitable mistake by us

Yep - have to agree Rosco. Also how is the relationship with @gkmacca - are both still at each others throat ?

I fear that Rafa is going to outcoach Klopp.
Don't think Klopp has beaten Rafa yet.

In fairness Rafas cautious style is tailor made to frustrate Klopp and despite his many flaws as a manager Rafa is probably the better tactician. That said our players are miles better than theirs and this is the first time we get to unleash the front 4 in the league this season so I'm optimistic.

Tactically I'd expect Benitez to fully exploit Klopp but I'm just hoping our quality in attack we'll see us through. Their young CB/captain has been in great form this season and I'd worth keeping an eye on.

A Toon fan I know is convinced we'll muller them. I'm afraid I'm less certain than he is. As Squiggs and others have said, Rafa's just the manager to figure out how to counter our style. My crystal ball (the left one) says we snatch it 1-0 or it's a scruffy 1-1 draw.

We are creating loads of chances, at some point we will convert a few. Hopefully that's tomorrow.

Then it's another international break to shit on the momentum.

Probably? He's twice the tactician Klopp is.

I'm worried.

If, IF, our forwards have a great game & we put a couple of chances away early doors we may be ok.

Otherwise our current form & the negative part of our game plays right into Rafa's hands.

His normal plan is to stop the ball reaching the danger man. In our case we have three or four danger men, so I suspect he'll have most of them sat back (two banks of four) but put loads of pressure on the midfield, maybe even using a midfielder high up the pitch to do so, & Henderson (as well as the rest tbh) doesn't do well under pressure sat back there at all so it'll break our play up badly & knock our confidence.

Thats what Rafa did last time, I think.
Pressured our midfield into making mistakes.

If Newcastle/Every team we face have any sense, they'd sit with ten men behind the ball and play long ball into our box and play for set pieces. Easy.

Always is the wrong word. Mostly twat them.

We’ve beaten them 9 times out of 16 over the last decade.
I know our history against Newcastle but they finally have a manager who is capable and we're not exactly in perfect condition right now.

Mate, much as I love Rafa he’s been beaten, while managing us, by shite teams too. Were the likes of Allardyce and Pulis better tacticians than Rafa?
