I heard the Newcastle game was made in the same factory as the Burnley game etc

We always twat them. I’m going for the cliché of we are due to give someone a hiding. This weekend is it.

We always twat them???
It was 2-2 at Anfield last time we played them.
Last 3 visits to St James', we've drawn once and lost twice

Mate, much as I love Rafa he’s been beaten, while managing us, by shite teams too. Were the likes of Allardyce and Pulis better tacticians than Rafa?
If you manage to win the CL on your first season with the likes of Mellor, LeTallec, Sinama, Biscan, Traore, Carson playing major roles you're in a league of your own.
If you manage to win two league titles in a league with Barca and Madrid, you're in a league of your own.

The chance of us winning is obviously bigger than us losing tomorrow, because we have a better team than Newcastle. But with Rafa you never know. He's come to Anfield three times, if I remember it correctly. We got molested by his Valencia, we almost lost against Chelsea(biting incident) and Newcastle got back from being 2-0 down and managed a draw.

What I'm saying is, in my world, Klopp isn't anywhere near to Rafa tactically. So I don't see how claiming that Rafa might outcoach him tomorrow is controversial.
And this underlying hate people have for him since he was fired by Liverpool is fucking tiresome. Some were even claiming that Klopp has done as much for Liverpool in two years. Like the CL and making us the top ranked team in Europe is shit. Talk about holding a grudge.

I'd go as attacking as possible..and just try and outscore them, I'm sure that'll be the plan anyway.

Mignolet Gomez Matip Lovren Robertson Can Coutinho Salah Firmino Mane Sturridge in a 4231.

let's go reds, 4-2 win.

Tactically I'd expect Benitez to fully exploit Klopp but I'm just hoping our quality in attack we'll see us through. Their young CB/captain has been in great form this season and I'd worth keeping an eye on.

I'd ditch your X5. It's spell/grammar check is awful !

After Lovren saying he's been taking 5 painkillers before each game in order to play, I'd think Gomez or Klavan will start

No, but unlike Rafa, he's actually won a league in the last 10 years ... Perhaps since you're focusing on 'trophies' so much, you should focus on that.

I hope Newcastle get relegated - not because I don't Rafa to do well, but because it will keep these wankathons to a minimum.

I don't do it because I enjoy it, I do it because of the lack of respect people have for him as a manager. He transformed this club into the top team in Europe.
We went in to games against Real Madrid, Barca etc expecting to beat them, and we did.
I just think we as fans got spoiled, and as soon as we hit a rough patch we wanted him replaced, which took us even further backwards.

What a rough spot we must be in now where you think we would be better off with a manager who's not survived more than 6 months at three of the biggest clubs in Europe, despite his success at one, and hasn't won a league in ???

I think he probably gets disrespect on this site because people like you clash with those who aren't as blinded by his great start - he cocked up the league title we should have won (just like BRodge did, and I guess we hope Klopp does too as you don't think we can win the league unless we fluke it like Leicester) and he left the club in a really bad place too (remember where we were?). That position doesn't take away from his two great cup wins, and the man he was (& still is) in the city ... but you'd think you were talking about Shanks or Bob that way you go on about it - and no one even talks about it bar the grandparents like Ports and Judge

Not sure the two examples above really reflect this, Modo. They are examples of Rafa generally being a 'good egg', which I don't think has ever been in doubt.

Rough patch or whatever, he did go off the boil a little towards the end. He left by mutual consent, after overseeing a season that had us dumped out of the CL in the group stages and taking us through our worst run of form for 22 years. On top of that, he sold Alonso in the summer (a year after having tried to push him out of club for Gareth Barry) and replaced him with Aquilani. We finished 7th.

Despite what fans might think of his overall record - and yeah, in the first few years he was brilliant and has given us some great memories - it was the right decision for him to go when he did. We were shit after he left because we were shit, not because he left.

Yeah he didn't survive more than 6 months at Chelsea, Real and Inter. Teams that are excellent judges of character.

How bad was it really, when he left? 7th in the league, semi-final in the Europa league, knocked out early in the cups.
OK, it was bad, but did appointing Hodgson help?

What do you think, as manager and ultimately an employee of the club, Rafa's targets may have been for that season given it followed a season where we finished 2nd? Do you think he met any of those targets?

Character? He's got a brilliant character - but unfortunately, that has little to do football management success.

7th in the league? Check the squad ...
NO! No one thinks Roy = Rafa. It was a catastrophic mistake that had us in an even worse place. Raf lost it man - it's tough because he was so fucking close. That's life though -

My boss is a toon fan and reckons everything good for them has come through Merino in recent weeks. If this is true - certianly someone to watch today and I hope Klopp and team have done their homework and close him down at any opportunity.

Would quite like to see Manquillo on the pitch - I liked what I saw of him for us and wish him well (although not in this game).

Maybe Can vs Shelvey could be a tasty battle of the strong tackles too.

I think we'll win 1-3
