-I hate Spurs because of their fans, they win a few games and go on about how they are about to win the league.
In the interest of fairness, fans of a lot of other clubs despise us for the same reason.

Where's that graph spidey wheeled out ?

Fans hate fans. It is like little children saying their fathers are bigger and stronger and richer and better than other people's fathers. Just saying.

Bahahaha, see they're idiots!

Sir Chris Hoy tells Tottenham fans: stop abusing me, I'm not a referee

• 'For the record: I don't need glasses … that's Chris Foy'
• 'On the plus side I've learned some new four-letter words'

The four-time Olympic gold-medal winner Sir Chris Hoy has revealed that despite his rise to prominence as one of the world's most recognisable track cyclists it still hasn't prevented football fans from hurling abuse at him.

Hoy has said football fans regularly send him insulting Twitter messages after mistaking him for Chris Foy, the Premier League referee who made a number of contentious decisions during Spurs' 2-1 defeat to Stoke on Sunday, including turning down two penalty appeals for handball and sending off the Tottenham defender Younès Kaboul.

"Just for the record 1) I don't need glasses and 2) I do not lead a double life as an English premier league ref. That's Chris Foy," Hoy tweeted. He continued to protest his innocence, adding: "Still getting some rather amusing grief from Spurs fans! On the plus side I've learned some new 4 letter words today. #FoyNotHoy."

Hoy recently won gold in the sprint in the first of the World Cup series in Kazakhstan as he prepares for the Olympics, where he can expect nothing but good luck messages on his Twitter feed, providing Foy is not overseeing any of the Olympic football matches.

I don't, I have no shame in admitting it. I respect United despite the rivalry, I have tons of respect for anything Spurs.

Oh just to add fuel to the spurs fans fire, I just posted up that article on Facebook with the caption "Only spurs fans are this dense" to which a spurs fan replied saying people posting generalisations like that makes everyone fear Muslims... Christ alive.

I fear there's a tinge of green forming around the head gear of your avatar Oncy.

I don't really like any other teams in the league though I do have a soft spot for Southampton mostly due to Le Tiss. I once had a soft spot for West Ham but that has passed some time ago.

For Spurs - well, I quite admire them on one level to be honest. They've nothing like our history but they're streets ahead of most other teams. What they've done in the last 10 years is something I imagine many posters wish we had done; they've built themselves up steadily and 5 or 6 years ago the cheap, value transfers they were making were outstanding. They've had a fair bit of money put into them since then but, without having gone back and looked up the details, I'd warrant a lot of it is due to the good work of several years ago.

Harry, on the other hand... 😛
And also quoted for truth.

The bones of this Spurs side were collected under the Arnesen and Commoli years, when they seemed to buy young players and invest time and money in them. Harry is obtaining the benefit of them but then also was allowed to crank things up (in spending and wages) to an extent that Spurs made their first loss for more than a decade last year. He's done a decent job adding veteran players like Parker and Adebayor to the squad but his own transfers have largely been wasted money. I'm glad one of the terms of Harry's appointment was that they got rid of the DOF, because Spurs could have become a massive concern to the "top four" over the long term. They still might, but the transfer spending on the likes of Keane, Defoe and Crouch could have obtained much bigger rewards, and every decision Harry makes is one for the short term. That hurts you sooner rather than later unless you have virtually unlimited funds.

What sort of shelf life do people see this team having ?

Adebayor will be gone at the end of the season, it's still possible that Modric will leave / refuse to sign a contract and walk away eventually. If they have to continue to keep a tight reign on spending like they did in the summer then I can see them dropping away within 18 months. CL qualification this year would help them out in that regard. It's going to be interesting to see how things go, one sure sign the money has dried up will be when Harry walks away. So once that happens expect some serious regression from Spurs.

Yeah i can't see them becoming a regular CL side either.

Just look at their recent summer signings in Friedel, Parker and Adebayor................Hardly built for long term success.

They might get in the top 4 this season, but they'll soon start dropping down the league from there on in.

Yep Spurs are cunts.

But to be honest, I have a hatred of quite a few football teams. Most of them in fact for some reason or another that has arisen over the course of watching Liverpool play them through the ages.

Real Madrid, Man Utd., Barcelona,Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Nottingham Forest. . . the list is endless.

All cunts to be fair.

That's Harry's way though; build for the now.

Look at every side he's ever managed and he's filled it with experienced, older pro's and gone on to get the best out of them.

West Ham - Ian Wright, Neil Ruddock, Di Canio, Dicks, Hartson, etc
Portsmouth - Sol Campbell, Diston, David James, Kanu, Merson, etc etc
Spurs - Gallas, Friedel, Parker, Christ he even wanted Beckham and Phil Neville.

He doesn't do long-term planning, hence why Postmouth fell on their arse the second he left. Ditto West Ham and Southampton. I'm not saying it's good or bad, cos fans of each of those clubs (including Spurs) have had their best years in recent memory under him, and I doubt none of them would have swapped it.

Kinda makes me think he'd make a decent England manager. He gets the absolute best out of players in their prime, which is an impressive feat in today's football where most players don't give a fuck beyond their lifestyle.

I have to say I'm in the Anti Spurs camp. Particularly recently when I've had the misfortune to have a Spurs fan live above me and to say he's a knob is a massive understatement. I think I prefer Arsenal now!!!

Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham Hotspur manager, is expected to escape censure from the Football Association today for his suggestion that Chris Foy, the referee, "enjoyed" not awarding decisions in his side's favour during their 2-1 defeat at Stoke City on Sunday.

Though no formal decision has been reached on whether his comments transgressed FA directives that managers should not question the integrity of a match official, the game's governing body is expected to be lenient when reaching a conclusion today. It is believed the context of Redknapp's remarks – querying why his side saw a legitimate equaliser from Emmanuel Adebayor ruled out for offside and had two penalty appeals for handball turned down – is enough to convince the FA that the Spurs manager did not mean to imply any bias on Foy's part.

Spot the difference: Why were these three managers charged then?

Andre Villa-Boas

The Chelsea manager was charged with improper conduct after criticising referee Chris Foy following October's defeat at QPR: "The ref was poor, very, very poor. I don't care if he's OK or not. It was a good day for us and a bad day for the referee. I think he lost it and was card happy towards the team."

Sir Alex Ferguson

The Manchester United manager was found guilty of improper conduct and given a five-match ban after commenting on Martin Atkinson following March's 2-1 loss at Chelsea: "You want a fair referee – or a strong referee, anyway – and we didn't get that. When I saw who the referee was, I did fear it. I feared the worst."

Tony Pulis

The Stoke manager was found guilty of improper conduct and fined £10,000 after criticising referee Lee Probert following defeat to Liverpool: "We don't think it was even stevens in terms of the decisions. You can't have some rules in one box and different rules in the other box. We have had Lee a few times now and had three goals disallowed."

Harry needs a strong chairman or DOF in order to benefit the club.

These clubs may have fallen quickly after he left but the preparation for that fall was all made during his tenancy. The fact he's pissed off before everything's imploded just means he's seen the writing on the wall.

That's not to say it's his fault; he's there to manage the football team and achieve as high a result as he can. It's the chairman or the owner or the DOF or some other titled individual who has to make sure the operations are working for the future as well as the now.
