Gone to Bayern, it's official. I hate the way they've just bought all the competition in that league.

It must hurt being a Dortmund fan. Imagine every player we ever had that was good going to United under Ferguson (i.e. when they were the best). Imagine Reina, Gerrard, Hyypia and Torres etc going there. Unfathomable.

It's not quite the same (or as unthinkable). Bayern's dominance is such that they transcend obvious local rivalries like us and United. But annoying, yeah.

Bayern scouted Sanches twice and then signed him. Utd have seen him 24 times but couldnt get him in the end even though they've "agreed a fee" loads of times according to the media.

35 mill € + 45 mill € in bonuses is insane though.

United may not even be in the CL, and don't appear to know who their manager is going to be next season.

Bayern are Champions and are one of the best sides in the world, and also one of the richest.

I don't think the number of times he was watched by either team makes much difference, it's not hard to work out why he might have preferred Bayern.

Utd were told by his representatives that a move to England or Real was preferred. But they were also told that any delay would open up the chance for other teams.
Utd have been chasing him for a long time and have clearly fucked it up as Bayern entered the chase late and got him.
Funny reading how the Mancs blame Woodward.

Not strange that he in the end opted for Bayern though.

Any delay? Wow, they're not very patient, given the season isn't even over yet, and the transfer window isn't open.

It's good news for us that Hummels chose Bayern (his hometown team) and not Man City. Guardiola's blind spot is CBs, but Hummels is one of the few top CBs who fits Guardiola's mould perfectly and his addition would have made City much stronger. Now Guardiola will probably get rid of Kompany and try to turn Mangala and Otamendi into a world-class partnership – good luck with that!

Hummels on Gotze leaving:

"No [I cannot understand his decision], and that's how I told him too. Everyone can see how good our team is. I don't believe that there are or was any sporting reason to leave us. One could see how our team developed and Mario got along well with many here, which is why I was so angry about the fact that he was of the opinion of having to leave so early."

In 2014:

And when he penned his current deal in 2014, Hummels said: "I don't have to have won eight championships by the end of my career. I'd rather do something special. I'd rather win one championship as a leading figure rather than as part-time worker." It was another passive-aggressive remark towards Gotze, but also one taking the lead against the Bavarian oppression: "It has to be the aim of more teams in Germany to break Bayern's dominance."

He had this carefully cultivated image of a football hipster who was not quite in it for the money or the trophies. He is going to get a lot of shit from Dortmund fans for his hypocrisy.
