I think we should discuss how utterly shite Hull are.

Hey everyone - How utterly shite are Hull, in your opinion?
Hunt is very dangerous and playing well.
That's scraping it to say the fucking least.

They are utterly utterly shite, and we can forget about any Title-challenges if we can't beat that rubbish.
We should beat them, I'm merely pointing out he is their main threat.

They were seconds away from a great result against Chelsea.

One could say we can forgot about a challenge if we taje zero points from Spurs and Villa. It's all relative.

Thank you for the kind Welcome! I have enjoyed reading the many views over the weeks and thought I would like to 'take the plunge!'

I support Liverpool since the 80's, Rush and Dalgish, Lee, Jhonson, walsh, Whelan, Barnes, and my all time hero, Steve Nicol. now im migratant worker in Australia, there is foxtel sports for the games.

Why Steve Nicol? his versatiliy and my playing style was similar.

I visited Hull once during my time in England, I have no recolection of the place, except for a particular sense of 'ennui' which circles the poor souls of Hull.

Hull has a constant breeze that wafts the aroma of butcher shops up the noses of curious visitors. Every male resident over 50 wears a powder blue blazer from April to August each year. Young people who dream of glamour end up in the car park at ASDA. Everyone eats pies. A wedding cake is a large pie. The city is twinned with Ipswich, owing to a lack of interest from abroad.

Hahaha.

Its not a bad night out with loads of women but its also full of your rugby playing wannabe hardmen types. Every fucker is over 6 foot tall or a smack head in the city. In the day time its like a ghost town. Strange place.

Napoleon's casino is probably the best place to go there which says alot.

I spent three of the best years of my life in Hull. It used to have a great nightlife - has that really changed? As for the hardmen... isn't that the same in all English cities? Mansfield, where I grew up, was just as bad for that as Hull.

The nightlife is still decent but i wouldn't say great. Its very much a Saturday night city these days. The week days are dead bar student night on a Thursday. I think with most places the relaxed drinking laws have had an impact on the nightlife. People can go out and drink until 4am or later so places don't get busy untill 11pm onwards. If you were to drive around Hull at 10pm on a Saturday night say you'd mistake it for a Monday night as its that quiet until later on these days.

I guess your right about the hardmen in all cities. Manchester is probably the worst ive come across.

If we win tomorrow we'll be one point ahead of last years corresponding matches ( swapping Burnley for Hull).

Reina

Johnson
Carra Kyriakos - Two reasons Carra is off form of late.. and hull will be playing hoof ball..
Skrtel
Aurelio Insua - deserves to keep his place.

Mascherano or Lucas
Gerrard Lucas - been rested for a reason

Kuyt
Benayoun Gerrard
Riera Benayoun - been rested for a reason

Torres

Yeah? - No it will be a familiar line up.. Although I would like to see the attacking formation as you put it.. It just won't happen, even against the like of Hull 🙁

Exactly this.

There are really not too many reasons to change the team when they have been scoring freely. I agree with putting Kyrgiakos in there (has anyone noticed how quickly 6CM forumites seems to have taken to him - quite unexpected, I'm happy for him he's settled in quickly) because I think he is likely to get plenty of chances to get his head on a few crosses at the other end.

I don't think anyone's smitten by him

He's simply the only option to replace Carragher with.

ROFL !

I actually have very sweet memories of Hull - or should I say a particular young lady whose name escapes me. Used to frequent a wine bar called The Oasis. No doubt disappeared 25 - 30 years ago !

Most recruits of his ilk seem to end up getting slaughtered - most though seem to have accepted him as a decent and reliable sub whenever required.

Yeah, I think that's fair. He's done alright so far and I like his Hyypia esque heading ability.

Haven't bothered to learn his name yet, though.

I prefer "the Greek" I'll learn his name if we get another greek.

I think it's a bit early to judge him either way.

Carragher may well be due for a "rest", he has been poo all season but I can't see it happening. I remember when Dirka was poo for near enough a season and Rafa never dropped him.

Yeah, but his dad died. What's Carra's excuse?

I'm not sure that's case.

Rafa's a clinical man and Dirk wasn't directly costing us points.

If you're on poor form as a CB, you're much more likely to get dropped, IMO - there's only so long it can go on for.

Sotiris was a brilliant buy, inspired, our biggest problem is in the air so Rafa picks up an inexpensive. experienced aerially dominant (didn't seem slow) CB.

The Greak/Skrtel partnership is calling on my mind

*nickname in dire need, Brendan?

I think I could live with that.

Folk were calling him Zorba initially. I'd say that's a pretty decent one.

And I agree he looks a good buy so far. He's certainly settled in very quickly.

Rafael Benitez: Jamie Carragher will only get better with age

Jamie Carragher, the Liverpool defender, once admitted that any praise that came his way courtesy of Rafael Benítez was more meaningful because the Spaniard is not the type to eulogise about his players.

After a week during which Carragher’s value to the team he has represented with distinction for more than a decade has been called into question, the player will surely be delighted that his manager has rejected such rumblings of discontent by insisting that the 31-year-old is better than ever.

Carragher’s display in Liverpool’s 3-2 victory away to West Ham United last weekend was the subject of much criticism in some quarters, with the centre back having conceded a penalty after being caught out by the pace of Zavon Hines, the winger.

Benítez, though, does not buy into the theory that the retired England international’s best days are behind him and has been arguing instead that the club’s longest-serving player is improving with age.

“You are a better defender at 31 than at 26,†Benítez said. “When you have five more years’ experience you know the other players better, your movements and your position better. If you are physically fit, like Carra is, then you can become a better defender. I knew Carra before I joined the club because we played against Liverpool for Valencia, and I think he is a much better player now because of his understanding of the game is much better.

“He can analyse the other players. He knows his best position. He can make mistakes like everyone else, but he is also a talker, giving advice to the others, which is important. I am not worried if he made a mistake.

“You cannot improve your pace. If you are slow, you are slow. Carra is quicker now because his game intelligence is better. I have been talking to him about his physical condition because everyone has been asking. His fitness tests are better than the beginning of the season, so there is no problem. He made a mistake, but it’s a team that has to improve defensively. I a not worried about him.â€
