Thread title a bit much?

I don't think it is really. We don't need to talk about the Hull game. It was a Liverpool under Rodgers / Klopp loss to relegation fodder by numbers:
  • loads of possession
  • set-piece nightmares
  • goalkeeping errors
  • looking like the most susceptible team to counter-attacks in the history of the game
  • inability to create any meaningful chances
  • Bonus points usually awarded for an opposition player scoring their first goal for the club or a ridiculous never to be repeated stunner.
I don't know whether we'll finish fourth any more and right now I don't particularly care - what concerns me more is that this season looks to be a complete waste:
  • Our better players have another year on the clock
  • Our 'project' players have regressed badly
  • We have the same systemic issues plaguing us and we look no closer to addressing them
And given that this was a year without European football where we could really focus on a core group and build for the next few seasons it all becomes even more disappointing.

Someone lie to me and tell me it's all going to get better!

Like is said in the match thread. Until Klopp works a way around the bus, season over because this is gonna happen time and again.
I said a while ago that there was a real chance we would end up outside the top four. As long as we don't get he Europa.

What is the fucking point.
Going to try to avoid any sport now this weekend to hopefully block out that abortion. Bye

Coutinho looks devoid of confidence a firmino is still inconsistent, the midfield is limited, milner shagged , Lucas at cb isn't good enough, Matip looks out of form and lallana was shite

The signs have been there since the new year. People convinced themselves it was a a blip, wait till mane gets back etc. But fact is our season looks to have collapsed and atm klopp is looking lost. Doesn't help when Ming goes though his 4/5 games of fcuk ups. However that sits with klopp after giving him another contract after last seasons performance

It's just completely flat and one dimensional, predictable rubbish. It's been this way since before the New Year and he's offered up no change in system at all. It's been a repetitive case of waiting until around the 70th minute to throw Sturridge/Origi on, with no real intent or purpose about what to do with that player, just throwing them on, hoping that an extra attacker will solve an already congested attack by just being there.

He's identifying nothing in the approach play as being the issue and making no real intention to alter the dynamic. I'd think more of him if he shuffled around the midfield, take of one of the holding players and put on a kid, something, anything that might add some fresh spark and ideas to a negative, one paced build up. Instead, he's just throwing anything at it and hoping something sticks.

Dalglish took alot of flack for his lack of purpose from the side lines and with substitutions. I see absolutely no difference with Klopp, just the same timings, the same attackers being thrown into a game lacking in any real creativity, it's fruitless and completely unimaginative. Amateurish in it's complete naivety.

We got Sussed out during the Bournemouth game and it's turned to shit ever since, we need to change our style of play to save our season and klopps job

It does make you question klopps tactical prowess, if teams dont want to play end to end football , we simply lose.

I didn't watch the game ...

"Meet the new boss ...."? 🙁

Naaaah, it's ok ... weak squad, players come back from injury/AFCON, midfielders regressing tremendously (Can), problems with the goalie and backline ... Top 4 is the only goal and that means our season isn't quite over ...

If we don't finish 4th, I do wonder if Klopp can survive next year without a trophy ...

As for Klopp (& Pep etc) ... This isn't Germany (or Spain), your team has to be ready and willing to fight every fucking game ... We've lost to fucking Swansea and Hull - when was the last time you saw FC Kuntz beat Bayern? I mocked Conte's (well done on the title - you manage a cunt of a club) tactics after the draw on Tuesday - but he's the only new gaffa who's come here and forced his team to play every game 100% from the back to the front (granted, a MUCH better back he was given than Pep or Klopp) and that obviously works.

We're not shit either - the team is just devoid of confidence and not enough quality to replace what we lost in that Sunderland game.

Yeah season is pretty much over at this rate. I'm not sure top 4 would be great anymore considering we'd get our heads bummed in and we'd have more games to play. Not sure what needs to happen to be honest. I'm not sure I care right now either.

Without trying to hijack the thread, I still can't quite agree with our/Klopp's stance regarding Jan transfer window and signings.

“It is not as if there are 20 players out there who could make this team stronger, who are running around and are available. That is the situation."

Fact is our starting XI almost picks itself regardless of form and our bench options are limited to turn things around when necessary.

I don't think it's even fair to say Hull played "the bus" against us. It was a defensive-minded system for sure, but nothing out of the ordinary. It was our inability to break them down, total lack of form from all the attacking players and the usual shit at the back that was our undoing today, not the "bus."

Once again personal mistakes cost us. It goes from a controlled game to chasing the game with that gift of a goal just before half time. Obviously changed the entire game and then you leave yourself open to counter attacks.

Top 4 is probably gone unless we find our form in the next couple of weeks.
Klopp has got some serious issues to work out with this team, and some of the players offer nothing.
It took him 2 years to build his Dortmund side so I'm clinging to that at the moment.
Cant do much else.

Thanks LFC, for making going to work on monday a fucking nightmare.

I'm convinced that FSG have told him to balance the books this season so they can pay for the new stand and Klopp is covering for them and taking the flak.
I'd prefer he did a Rafa and told us that he's not being supported financially by the owners.
The only other alternatives are that Klopp didin't think we needed anyone or wouldn't take a chance on anyone and I disagree with both.

Another point ... Lucas - as even his most ardent fans will admit (bar Arn) - is not really good at a CB against good opposition. We let Sakho go who's clearly better than him, and probably Klavan and on his days, Lovren too ... I support what Klopp is trying to do with Sakho - but he's hurt us here to do it.

Daniel Sturridge.
Probably my favourite player alongside Coutinho is no longer the player he used to be. Could be the style or the tactics but he just isn't the right fit and sadly our makeshift striker Firmino isn't either.
But back to Daniel. Kept an extra eye on him when he came on today just as I've looked at him when he's started before.
Every time a cross comes into the box that fucker is always ALWAYS, behind his defender. What is he doing? Of course the he'll lose every battle in the box. It's not even a battle, he just doesn't put himself in the right position to head the ball. It's like he expects it to fall on his lap.
OK, I need to be fair, he's never been a target player but it's never been this bad. I almost wish we still had Benteke on the bench.

Yeah I admit Sakho would have been more valuable to us atm.

Should have sold Lucas last summer. He obviously isnt good enough. Neither is Moreno or Ming.
The weak links in this team are hurting us time and time again.
