Hull (A)

I think it's unfair to say the players didn't want it or work hard enough, they just looked clueless.

What was the plan? It didn't look like we had any real idea as to how to break them down. Rodgers persists with us playing this tippy tappy style but we're not good enough to do it and the opposition know it.

Other than Stevie G who should play every game now

You have got to be joking, Gerrard should be one of the last names on the teamsheet for the rest of the season, aside from the fact hes been terrible for about 12 months now he wont be around next year so its more important that we give games to players who will actually be here next year instead of stroking the gigantic ego of a guy who is off to LA.

End of the first half: seconds to go and the ball was passed back into our half, to the right, to the left, back to the right, back to the left... End of the second half, again, aimless passing even though you could tell the ref was going to blow pretty soon. There's nothing clever about that - in fact it's just stupid. Because it's not being done for any rational purpose. It's being done because that's what these players have learnt to do, no matter what the situation. We've seen some stupid play under past regimes but this time it's even more irritating to witness because we keep being told how incredibly intelligent the coaching is.

So after Villa we got "sometimes you want to win too much"

After West Brom on the weekend, Brodge claimed we were "outstanding."

What's coming out of tonight's post-match review? I'm going for "great character". We haven't had that nauseating bullshit in a while.

I guess the most utterly depressing thing of all is that no one's really that shocked or surprised that we lost to Hull.

Rodgers is in serious trouble.

He is indeed, and despite the arrogant and deluded accusations, he won't need telling.

I dunno, we look like a broken Football Club. There appears to be no accountability and responsibility for transfer business and on the pitch, we have team that looks lost and lacking in belief and fight.

Grim times, and it goes without saying a massive summer awaits the Club because it really does feel like it's sink or swim for us.

The likelihood is, we'll not spend the big bucks but whatever we do spend, it has to be well and in the right areas. It simply has to.

Furthermore, we need some of last years crop to step up to the fucking plate which might include growing a large set of balls...whether they're "young and learning the game" yaddy ya or not... Yes, that's you Can, that's you Moreno and that's you Markovic.

Another thing, we'll face a huge fight to keep Coutinho this time next year if he keeps playing he is and we're still shite like we are now.

Absolutely.

We won't have the budget we did last season so spending the available funds wisely is key. None of this bollocks of 6 new players.
We have talented players that have earned the right to put on the shirt. Next season is when they make their stamp and step up.

2 wins would have gotten us 2 points within the Scum.

Important games and Rodgers can't get the team to perform. It does seem like he has lost the dressing room.

What was Rodgers post match interview like?

Knowing him it would have been the usual:

"unlucky not to win ... thought we controlled the match ... possession ... penetration ... young Coutinho ... young Ibe .... tactical this, tactical that ... mentality ... Liverpool supporters are very knowledgeable ... history ... tradition .... institution .... history .... penetration ... possession ... controlled the game ... unlucky not to win ... proud of the effort"

I thought we were superb. We controlled possession, our movement was superb, the effort and technical precision was top drawer. All we lacked was a bit of luck in front of goal and we were very unfortunate to concede against the run of play.

Lol

I can honestly see one of the big teams coming in for Coutinho this summer and I would not blame him if he leaves. He might stay if we change manager but again that'll depend on who we bring in!

you can't overreact to our season and blame a 20yr lad for everything. There are senior pros here who have gone missing, not least the manager as well. one moment he is the messia next moment he is shocking.

Who blamed our season on him? And you're accusing people overreacting?

Rodgers is playing a game, but not the one on the pitch. He started the season insisting that the club could do without Suarez, he's now ending it by implying that it can't. He started by claiming he believed in his squad, he's now ending it by suggesting that he doesn't. He's started the last two matches with Balotelli up front, and ended them by complaining the team 'lacked a reference point' up front. As I said before, he can battle with FSG in any way he likes once the season is over, but not while it's still going on. Fans are spending their hard-earned cash watching him surrender to the likes of Steve Bruce. If he wants to show he loathes Balotelli, then he should drop him in favour of Lambert or a young and hungry reserve. If he wants to show he's a tactical genius, use some genius tactics. He's washed his hands of the season while the fight was still going on. You could do that at Swamsea - not that Swansea are this time around under Monk - but you can't do it here. He's acting like a spoilt child and it has to stop.

Do you need any help getting your tongue out of your cheek?

Exactly. We could have saved our season by winning two must win games. Two games we can and should win. Yet we only got one point from these two games. I only watched the last 20 minutes on Saturday, but I watched the entire game yesterday and we never looked like scoring.
I still think our main problem is that we failed to replace Suarez. Spending 120M all around the squad, yet leaving it with this frontline is beyond poor. You don't have to be a great managrr to understand that. And since Rodgers missed this crucial issue, and chose to go to war with this "frontlineless" squad, I'm sadly starting to believe he's not the man for this job.

That for me that was the crucial issue in the summer... We had a team built around Suarez... he was the linchpin.. the leader..

We failed to address replacing all that in the transfer market..

If its true that it would cost FSG 10 mill to sack Rodgers. That might just be enough to save him if we dont have any clauses about finishing outside the top 4 etc like Moyes had.

Somehow understanding how they have operated with Boston Red Soxs over the years, I don't think FSG would be stupid enough not to have a clause in his contract...

Agree with the sentiment, but to be fair, at the end of the first half Johnson went on a great run, beat a few defenders, got to the line & pulled a perfect square box across the front of the goal, only for Mario to be sitting back on his heels and not able to make a simple tap in. That was where we lacked the killer (or even pre-school mini bully) spirit

3 players in the centre circle for Hulls goal..

I get the tactic.. but we failed to press hull leaving ourselves exposed to allow Dawson to score..

Yes, but that's significant in itself: we're supposed to be a side that plays quick possession football, with no player spending more than a few seconds before passing the ball on, but the only times we look like we're actually dangerous is when a player like Johnson or Can breaks with the routine and runs with the ball; the only other attacks - or most of them - appear to end in the kind of high and hopeful crosses that Rodgers supposedly hated when he came here. Now every team can struggle every now and again but this has been a problem for a while and it's a coaching issue.

Everyone, except balo ran up when the ball came into the box.

Balo strolled out and kept dawson on side and sticks his hand up knowing full well he was keeping hull players onside. No tactics can cover for half arsed players like balo.
