His reputation preceedes him!?

When is the last time Suarez dived ? That doesn't mean over react to a foul but genuinely dive. I really can't remember

He needs to cut the hysterics out though. When I saw the Scum one real time I thought it was a dive.

It looked like a dive, only on the replay you actually see there's genuine contact.

Fuck knows how the Norwich one wasn't given, incredible

I don't think Suarez actually dives that much. Not now anyway. He's a moany fucker, sure, but this season it was generally the defender genuinely at fault. Witch hunt successful.

Also, I don't know if it's just me but whenever I hear the opposition start to sing the "know what you are" song, my blood starts to boil. Glad Norwich supporters got it shoved down their throats yesterday but unfortunately that doesn't happen often enough.

Such a lazy, shit song.

I'm surprised some on here don't sing it.

Yes he does and I think he behaved imepeccably but can you remember when he genuinely dived last a la Wellbeck ?

The best thing about yesterday was Suarez fluffing the one-on-one, and getting jeered massively by the Norwich fans. Only for him to pinch the ball from their defence 30 seconds later, smash it in, and then go and celebrate in their faces. Brilliant. Made me lol a lot.

That was a quality moment

I haven't watched enough of us lately to say. I've got a backlog of full matches on the Sky+ waiting for when I get the time.

Proper chuffed when I discovered that I get LFC tv and it shows all of the matches

Btw, a side issue is that he didn't react the he was in the past.

He sat looking bemused, to make it clear he thought it was a pen, then got up & played.

If he keeps doing that, & we keep highlighting him not being given them (which tbf the media are now doing for us) then it'll change.

He also didn't overreact when hit, so I'm damn sure he's been told exactly how he needs to behave to sort this out.

As for that song, it pisses me off too, but at least John Terry, an actual racist, got some of it this weekend. Although Sky referred to him as the chelsea mass produced flags do 'captain, leader, legend' after the Arsenal game, without a trace of irony. Cunts.

Exactly. Has he ever done a no-contact orchestrated dive? I honestly don't think he has.

There's a significant difference between someone who's done that often, as opposed to someone who goes down theatrically upon contact.

The funny thing is Nani did dive. Yes he was being held but being held doesn't make your legs collapse like Bambi on ice!

The Nani one was a penalty, no doubt. I was surprised that it wasnt given. Webb or Halsey would have given Utd 3 penalties yesterday.

For Mike Jones not to give a penalty yesterday was just shocking. I was actually still angry about it at half time when discussing the first half with my mates.

I dont think its an agenda against us or a conspiracy of any sorts, but Riley and his fellow idiots have decided that Luis dives and someone will have to committ murder before he gets a penalty.

I loved his attitude yesterday though, if he continues like that the refs will look like idiots.
Thats the second week in a row the studio over here is highlightning poor desicions against us.

I noticed that as well and it made me think that he that it could be a blessing in disguise for him long term. I feel that by having to cut out the theatrics from his game in these situations and feeling hard done by, it's just going to spur him on more and he's going to be a better player because of this. And we're going to benefit from it big time.
If he stays fit, I say 20+ goals for him in the league this season for sure.

That looks good, doesn't it?

Even the media over here have started to draw attention to the Suarez thing now and, apart from one pr!ck writing in the "Times" (Matthew Syed, if anybody's interested), most of the coverage the issue has been getting has been surprisingly favourable to our standpoint. The question is whether that will now feed its way through into actual reffing decisions.

Suarez is a "known diver" because Slur Alex had a rant. Noone was making much of a deal of it until then, then all of a sudden its a given fact. So much so it has also infected many in here, who rattle off "known diver" as defacto

Precisely right. Ironically enough, just for once ManUre got a touch of this themselves yesterday when Nani was denied that peno. Now there's one player (there are others) who's every bit as bad a diver as Luis has ever been.

Yeah but just coz a) others dive and b) Luis seems to have curbed it doesn't lead to c) refs who had to put up with him diving and chasing them half way round the pitch and then look a nobhead when they did give him something instantly forget all that.

I can't believe anyone really thinks this is a penalty ... more simulation quite obviously:

suarezgif.gif

Really? He elbows him in the side of the face! What would the rule book say? It's not simulation at all, the player holds his arms up initially to suggest no contact and the proceeds to lamp him one anyway. I though that was more cut and dried than any of the decisions last week, and that's saying something.

Yup ... but ... I have this weird feeling that refs will 'make up' for it soon by calling everything ...

That's as long as he doesn't revert back to going to ground easily.

As someone mentioned above, it's more than just a case of crying wolf. He's become the ultimate villain of league. Ever since the Evra 'no handshake' incident HE and US as a club have got absolutely nothing from referees or officials. Every 50-50 big decision has gone against us. I remember a few years ago, when we came 2nd, there was a "foul Alonso and get a red card" unofficial rule going around where every bad tackle on him resulted in a opposition player getting sent off.

It seems like there's now an unofficial rule not give us any debatable decision. Like ALL of Halsey's decisions last week could be justified as a "could have gone either way".. it just so happened that they all went against us. Compare the "barely any touch" penalty Halsey gave for United last week, with the complete assault Tevez had in the box this week (a penalty Halsey didn't give yesterday). Throw in the assualt Luis received from Barnett, it's clear, that we are still suffering from the club PR disaster handling of the Evra incident. I was actually thinking that we may need to sell Luis just so we can get a few decisions go our way again.

It'll be interesting to see, if Luis stays honest (he surprisingly didn't go apeshit and moan over the Barnett foul) whether things will start to swing in his favour, where 50-50 penalty calls will all start going his way. But no doubt, after the first exaggerated fall by Luis, refs will start thinking "well, he's at it again now.. that's why we never give him anything".

I think you got whooshed there Mark.

I tell you what fucked me off about that decision yesterday - not only did the ref miss the blatantly obvious assault by Barnett on Luis but Barnett had the cheek to accuse Suarez of diving. Same with that cunt Johnny Evans the week before. The laughable thing being they are lying and cheating - the very thing Suarez is accused of. I've read somewhere today that its because Suarez has a reputation for diving and he's been booked already this year for it. Clearly forgetting that it should have been a penalty and not a booking in he first place.

It's all a big con. Yeh he's a drama queen but I really cannot remember the last time he actually dived. You know, like Riise did yesterday or Ashley Young and Wellbeck have perfected the art of. Yet such players remain non vilified.

It's all quite pathetic. Rob Lee was just on TV saying Suarez deserves this treatment, claiming as proof 'He was fouled last week but he put his head back as he went down'. That's absurd - if it's a foul it's a foul, regardless of where a player's arms or head goes as he falls. Refs aren't judging stylistic interpretations. And if refs are going to be consistent, they should just as readily book players for demanding yellow cards as they do for those supposedly simulating. Yesterday Bennett ran after the ref asking for Suarez to be booked - THAT should have been a booking. What refs just don't get is what happens at high speed - they still have memories of whatever pub team they played for and seem to think players can easily stay on their feet when clipped. They can't. And it's no good pundits watching it on slo-mo over and over again saying 'He made a meal of it'. It's a foul, plain and simple.

Being the pedant that I am, I feel it only right to say that Young was heavily criticized last season for his diving.

I believe Fanny Cheeks had a word with him to pack it in.

He needs to give Wellbeck the same advice.

Ferguson said he had to be careful he was getting a reputation but also said it was a "dramatic fall" and a "definite penalty". Ferguson is the biggest two faced cunt to exist in football and uses his influence to angle any advantage for his odious club he can. To the point of banning journos if they ask the wrong question. Which is a shame because he's a cracking manager but will be remembered for being an odious sulky manipulative cunt.
