Like with Carroll, the money is gone. There is no point sweating over it anymore - we've done it to death and then some. The important thing is that Downing is removed from our consciousness and we can begin to forget he ever existed.
Hahaha...he can't be any worse this season, they said.... And I'm stuck with this fucking avatar until he scores a league goal....
That Kenny quote about Downing disgusted me tbh..

I suggested Mullins could play for England due to his good form for West Ham at the time.
You thought 55 million pounds on Carroll and Downing was wonderful.
There's a fucking difference mate.
I don't get why Hansern get grief for initially wanting Downing? Why stick the knife in, we all wanted Downing to succeed. He hasn't, let's be pissed off but no need to throw it in the face of someone on the internet who supported him.
I'm angry at Downing not Hansern from the internets.
Ridiculous. He was trying to pick up a player who's so weak mentally that when the press complained about how average Stuart Little was, he couldn't get out of bed for a week. Daglish was trying to motivate him and show he faith. It failed. It happens. You don't think Rodgers has done the same thing with him? He's tried, and he's also failed.
He wasn't trying to insult the fans. To even assume he was is pathetic.
Aye, especially as he'd already insulted the fans enough by paying 20M for the useless cunt in the first place.
That Kenny quote about Downing disgusted me tbh.
A player we signed in the summer for £20m who was meant to provide us with a cutting edge in the final third by way of assists, goals and all round good play who has been a total flop from day one, who shits out of challenges and thinks hes the dogs bollocks in the process with shitty comments in the media blaming everybody but himself for his woeful displays in a Liverpool shirt.
There's a difference between trying to drum a bit of confidence into a big money signing and insulting the fans with such tripe.
So I can beat you with an Aqua-stick? 🙂
Actually no. In the first few games he had for us, I was pleasantly surprised. Downing looked sharp and creative, even though he didn't produce any end product even then. Somehow, it all went downhill quickly and just when you thought he hit the rock bottom, there was more room to fall. I think at some point we will look back at the whole saga (can't wait!) and realize that this is part of the price clubs pay for managerial and ownership uncertainty. I don't mean to defend Downing at all, but you rarely see this kind of player free-fall at a well-functioning club. Multiple managerial changes and radical shifts in football philosophy of a team test all players and those prone to self-doubt or those who can can't adapt to different models.
That's another reason why continuity is a smart strategy, there is much less chance of catastrophic and costly transfer mistakes. The main reason why we've made so many of them recently is precisely because of the ownership and managerial turbulence of the past few years.
I dunno, I find it hard to be as laissez-faire about this whole thing as you.
We fucked away the biggest heap of money we've ever had (and are likely to come even close to having for another 5 years) on complete spastics. It's set us back years.
