At @dmishra request - Todays past player is a player who reminds me of my old koptalk days. Igor Biscan! He had a massive cult following on there. 72 appearances with the reds and 2 goals. One of which I remember. A break from midfield and a nice slotted finish past the keeper (I can't remember who the team was though). I liked him and he was solid enough. I think Ged played him in all manor of places other than his favoured CM position. Mainly because of the Kaiser I think. Anyway what are your thoughts about 'Flasher' Biscan?

That was against Fulham, I think. The 4-2 which Xabi came on at half time to turn around.

I remember when we signed Igor, he was presented as a midfield powerhouse with technical ability. Our answer to Vieira I believe. Ged played him everywhere from CB to RB, and he was rubbish everywhere. Rafa did manage to bring something out of him in midfield and that has to be commended.

His role in our CL success shouldn't be underrated. The performances against Juventus and Chelsea were remarkable for someone who had until then been considered an abject failure.

So cult hero for that, and his sheepish personality. But on the whole, a pretty forgettable 'footballer'.

I remember seeing him play in the reserves (it was the only game i could afford to go to regularly and it was just down the road)and he was awful. Just terrible.

But he had moments of genuine class amongst the dire performances which made you wonder if there was a player in there.

Just cos he helped us win the CL its auto-hero and he looked funny when he ran

When Gerrard was out, he had a wonderful performance away to Deportivo (I think?) in the CL, which was very important on our way to getting into the knockout stages.
Don't know if he's a hero but he'll always be remembered warmly.

Come on now, you just want to see the willy picture don't you??
Oh go on then 😀

Yeah I remember that game. We won 0-1 and Igor played very well in place of a semi injured Xabi.

He arrived in the middle of the season and dominated Keane impressively against the Scum from the centre of the park and was also good against Vieira in that season. Then he got himself sent off against the Arse, and lost his way, with GH picking him in all sorts of odd positions like RM, and finally CB. By the time he had those performances against Depor, Juve on the road to Istanbul, he was barely recognisable from his debut season. Didn't help that Stevie clearly didn't trust him on the pitch.

He cried when he was told he was being let go. He carried our Midfield away to depot in the cl so that makes him a hero. Everyone that played a part that season is in my book even Smicer

He was a perfectly decent centr- mid that Houllier, in a typical moment of lunacy, decided to deploy in the highly specialised role of centre-back. He looked absolutely and understandably clueless in that position. I was fortunate enough to see a Liverpool away game in the Velodrome in Marseilles where Heskey put us one-nil up. Unluckily, l'OM had a big battering ram called Drogba up front who took Biscan apart and we lost 2-1.

He always looked he'd just woken up in a ditch. A very strange player, woeful much of the time, and then suddenly very capable. In a few matches he was terrific. I think Ged messed him around in so many different roles he ended up permanently dazed. Yet I could never dislike him.

Yep a good summary that. He just reminds me of koptalk where loads of people rather inexplicably loved him. Him and that other fan favourite 'Mad' Erik!

Houllier and Rafa really were keen on signing defensive midfielders we didn't need, especially if they were shit.

It's why I feel almost dirty at the amount of exciting attackers Rodgers tries to sign. Tried to get Salah, plus Konoplyanka for the summer. It's positively libertine.

Hero.

He was mostly shit, but did put in the odd brilliant performance. The best being when he dominated the Juventus midfield at their ground with only Le Tallec alongside him.

Besides, anyone called Igor is automatically going to be remembered as a cult hero.

I liked him more after he'd gone.

He wasn't quite as bad as Traore, in that I wasn't scared when I saw that he was playing, but I never really expected him to do very much, and most of the time he didn't.

He had a few decent games, but so he should have done. He wasn't exactly cheap.

I'm not sure about calling him a zero, that seems a bit harsh. Can I just say he's not my cup of tea and I have no real lingering affection for him but no dislike either?

Zero. Load of wank. He became a cult hero because he was so fucking shit. He was so fucking shit.

Nah mate, he had Xabi next to him in midfield at Turin.

I object to the thread title. I think with biscan he was actually a pretty gifted player but never really settled for us. His goal against Fulham which turned the match around for us was greeted with possibly one of the greatest goal celebrations ive ever seen.... it was a mixture of utter joy and bewildering shock at having scored. People can also forget that just like Mellor and Sinama Pongolle the miracle of Istanbul woild not have happened if not for Biscan who played an absolute blinder in the rounds leading to glory in Stevies absence.

Definite legend.

My fave celebration of all time is Smicers.... still gives me goosebumps thinking about that....

biscan, lion-hearted, gave his all, and delivered frequently in big game situations when we needed him. Loved the club, and yes he wasn't the best player ever to play for us, but he was a good egg. I'd take him over players who had more talent but didn't try hard enough (Smicer and Lazy Me First kewell)

On 8 December 2000, his contract was bought by Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier for £5.5 million,[1] having been sought after by Juventus, Barcelona, Ajax and Milan.

In April 2011, unconfirmed reports indicated that Igor has been scheduled for an operation on a joint that could spell the end of his career, but Luckily, Igor Bišćan decided to continue playing football and end his career at Dinamo Zagreb. In April 2012, he terminated his contract with the club

He has a beautiful strange thin wiry penis and heavy set pendulous balls.
Igors wab is a personal favorite of mine.
