Have I got this right? (Ticket sales)

What cards do you collect? Is it not all done electronically via your fancard, or do you get a card for each game too?

You don't collect any cards mate unless they take it from you at a spot check. I meant IF a steward takes your card to check if it's your seat they are requesting that you collect YOUR card at the ticket office after the game. This is fine IF it is your card and the ticket office is open.

Your membership card is activated for every game you purchase a ticket for. You don't get a card for each game to clear up the second question you asked..

Can we move away from the scare mongering that cards are being seized by stewards because as I've said, I've never seen it myself but know people it has happened too. I share cards and borrow cards the whole time. I was just trying to make people aware that they should be vigilant and cautious when entering the stadium and finding your seat.

Took the following from another site which had a thread about stewards being told to clamp down on cards.

  • 2 of my cards were taken by stewards Saturday, drunken ****ing gimps.... Been given to people I don't even know and never had issues, give them to mates from by me and this shit happens, gonna cause me unreal grief.

  • Had same problem with 2 cards taken by stewards at the Cardiff game before Christmas and ended up having to go to Liverpool to get them back as ticket office said will only be given back with photo id , cost me nearly €400 as had to replace hull n Oldham tickets that were on the cards n then travel to Liverpool to get them back . Still not got a cent of the lads who used the cards n looks unlikely that I will either

  • Mine have all games till the end of the season and have 19 aways and have been de activated from anymore purchases until they investigate why the card holders weren't the ones using them

  • That happened to me some time back I rang the t.o. And told them that I had lent them to a friend, they were ok but said that in future give them written note and signed to say you allowed this. But you will have to collect yourself with photo I.d.

  • Clamping down big time. Know a lad who gave his card to a lad earlier in the season. Was taken off him and his card has been deactivated even though he had paid for matches later in the season.
The club want everyone to buy memberships and don't like the card sharing. I am very careful about who I give me cards to as one is on Issue 3 At this stage from people messing with them.
Best thing is to write an email explaining you had planned on going however something came up last week and it was too late to get a refund so you loaned them to someone you trusted.

  • I had two of mine taken the day of Fulham. The steward showed my buddy to the seat but said he would have to take the cards and they would be posted back to the original owner. Waited a week and no sign of the cards so just rang the TO and told them i lost the cards and the sent out two new cards.
The same two cards wouldn't work for Villa and the steward started saying the tickets were not paid for and go to the TO and hope they weren't sold. They issued papers without any questions so i got a little lucky.
There is definitely something going on and i'm just going to brief anyone using them from now on-bootcamp for Anfield virgins.

  • Somebody else mentioned this earlier in the thread, but if the card is in anyones possession, make sure to tell them not to hand it over to a steward to "look at". A steward can't physically remove a card from someone. If they have the seat details and don't look like they're completely lost the chances are nobody will bother them...

Cheers Dave, I appreciate all that. Seems like the best option would be to get two fan cards for myself, if there cheap enough I probably shall, although I highly doubt there will be an issue sharing with my mate from work, just seems like another added annoyance.

I really hope there's tickets available for the Chelsea game.

General sale for city game though.

Yeah the system is shit. I bought two cards a couple of years ago to bring my son to his first game but only used them once because of the ridicilous July/November sales dates. Terrible for those of us who are trying to book flights at any sort of reasonable rate....

This is the problem when you only have a 45,000 capacity I'm afraid chaps.

It was easier in the old days when you used to just go along and queue up at the ticket office until they sold out.

Yep. Even easier when you just queued up outside the Kop from 12!

What size stadium do you all think we could realistically "sell-out" for every game at current prices?

I bet the club have got a pretty good idea, but I bet they can't build a ground that big. I'd guess somewhere around the 60-70k mark.

They will always want the stadium to sell out as it creates demand and hype. I reckon our attendances would be between 60-85k depending on the game, so we'll go for the lower epsilon of that.

I think 60,000 is underselling ourselves to be honest, why limit yourself... surely we can get 60,000 for the smaller games. You should then aim to fulfill demand for the bigger games, surely the main stand & anfield road can be made in such a way that you can add more than 15,000 extra seats???

If people like me had more chance of getting a ticket due to having a larger stadium then I would definitely think about going more often, the way it is now you cant be arsed with the hassle of even trying.

Before the cl in 2005 we weren't selling out big games. Utd at home, & Barca at Anfield in 2002 weren't sold out. Hard to imagine, but true.

If we had a 65k stadium we wouldn't sellout mid week games against mid table or below without drastically reduced prices. Not that I'm against that, it'd give locals who can't normally afford to go (me!) a chance.

It seems like a no brainer to me, 80k stadium, Category A games, £45, B: £35, C:£25. You sell out, you make money, whats the problem?

Exactly.... it may cost more in the short term to add extra seats.... but looking at the long term gain is surely more important?

Like you say, if it means people who have been pushed out because of high prices can return to football games then where is the issue?

It would be good for Liverpool to be a leader in bringing the game back to the (common) fan

No pun intended

Or just turn up at 2.15 like I did for my first game at 16 years old......£1.90 into the Kop.

Ha. Yeah, that worked, but we started going on our own (5 lads) aged 11, you needed to be at the front of the queue so you could get either to a barrier to sit on, or just in front of one so you didn't get pushed against it when we scored. Still ended up miles away during derbies or the Utd games though.

We then kept going at the same time out of habit, & it meant we got to stand at the front when we got older. We're all in the Kops last stand BBC documentary at the very front.

So, I finally signed up and got my membership and linked with a guys at work. I used the celebration of the 96 game as a test bed and it looks pretty simple linking the seats to the fancards when buying. I'm gonna have a look at the Manchester City game when it goes on sale on Friday, not with any real hope of getting the tickets, but just to get a chance to see how the system works, never know, might get two!

On a side, is getting away tickets for someone like me going to be completely impossible? Going to Upton Park would be really easy for me, but seeing as the sales are starting for people with 13 or more away games on their cards, would I be right in thinking I have no chance of even getting a look in? I guess @ILD and @the count are the best ones to ask.

I have never bought tickets for an away game mate but any time I have looked there always has been a prerequisite purchase of usually in excess of seven away games from the previous season.
If you can't buy tickets without having attended a sizable number of games previously I don't see how you can built up the required prerequisite match attendance 😡

Pretty much impossible.

Yep, I was wondering this, seems pretty bonkers to me *sigh* I guess there's such a small number of people who go that they do the best to keep there space.

So, I went online just now (8am) to tickets.liverpoolfc.com to see if I could get any of the general sale tickets for Manchester City (on sale at 8.15am) and I immediately got put into a queue, which it reckons will last an hour, is this normal?? I wasn't expecting to get any, just test the waters, but this seems extreme!

I think the may have changed things a bit,
Like wise I have been locked out since ten to eight,
Else everybody has cottoned on to the idea of logging in to the ticket page early🙁

Damnit, well, I guess they'll all be sold out by 8:17am anyway. Will have to log on at 6am next time lol

Well, that was a fun experience haha, the longest you can stay logged in for is 30minutes right? Which means theres no point getting on the site earlier than 30mins presale? Or is the site clever enough to extend based upon activity?

Yep it's tricky. The way to do it is to get tickets in the earlier sales. I waltzed into previous sales and got tickets together. This sale was always going to be a joke. It wasn't even a members sale. It was a general sale and there were only a few game left in a potential title winning year. I wouldn't let this put you off too much. You will have joy in members sales id say mate.

Now after hearing this I'm not sure we should be giving you advice... we wouldn't want you procreating or anything.

The amount of previous matches attended varies. So at the start of the season only grade a matches will need x amount from the last season. Others, Fulham, Norwich etc, would be open for sale to all, they rarely sell out straight away, especially mid week games. That allows you to build up games to use for bigger games later in the season.

I live in Southampton and want to start going to more away games next season. It's easier for me to travel to London for away fixtures in the capital or Southampton and surround area than it is to drive 4hrs and back to Liverpool - I usually try and source tickets off Twitter but of course this is unreliable.

If I buy a fancard will I be able to buy away tickets when they go on sale in July/November (according to information posted earlier in the thread) or are these sales only for home games? Or are Away Tickets 2014-2015 prioritised for people that bought away tickets in 2013-2014
