Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov (aka Lenin) on the podium & Lev Davidovich Bronstein (Trotsky) in the cap leaning up against the right of the podium. In the second picture he has been replaced by a wooden panel, as Stalin's scientists, after Lenin's death, tried to erase all evidence that Trotsky was in any way aligned with Lenin, in order to strengthen Stalin's own claim on Lenin's political legacy.
So that's why Zielinski didn't sign for us.
The mentions of the King's visit which I saw in the press presented it as having no particular significance (the question of course is whether they had a scooby what they were on about). As far as Sammy Lee is concerned, my guess would be possibly something England-related, as HC touched on earlier, what with Allardyce knowing him from Bolton days.
