Gerrard devastated at Alonso loss....

Sad how our club captain could see there was a massive hole left yet our manager chose to leave the hole unfilled for the first 3 months of the season.

The part of the season we usually play ourselves out of the title race.

:'(

To be fair, Rafa thought he would initially be out for 4 - 6 weeks but yeah, it was a gamble that may have backfired.

Maybe so it was a massive gamble as alot of people pointed to Alonso's passing as the key to Gerrard in the hole.

The least he should have done was move him back for those "4-6" weeks.

Ultimately these are the mistakes that cost us the most on the field this season. And for that Rafa must take the blame.

That figure gets lower everytime someone quotes it. In the middle of August every article said he'd be out until at least October.

We signed him on 24 August. 6 weeks takes it to October in my book mate.

Yeah but 24 is divisible by 7 ears.
[/quote]

I can't argue with that.

All I know is Herr Oncy has been found out to be a liar on this point. Rafa gambled, fucked up and Oncy is trying to cover it up.

And I trusted him.

I'm confused now. I started off using that argument to beat Oncy down but after doing a bit of research convinced myself that actually, Rafa didn't know how long he'd be out. Now you contradict my previous aspertions.

Hi everyone

Its been a long time but all I can say is I totally understand where SG is coming from. If I think back to his first season (i.e. Alonso) there were games against Chelsea, and United where Alonso virtually controlled those games and we lost SG for both games. He was one to take on the responsibility from midfield and direct the play - we do have a gaping hole in our midfield.

Regards,

MORON

In Alonso's first season for us, he gave us a master-class of a midfield performance against Everton. We had Gerrard sent off early in the first half, but Xabi stepped up and a ten man liverpool team scored 3 goals against Everton.........

Do we have anyone in midfield right now in Gerrard's absence? I hope Aquilani is the answer

Well the midfield was excellent against United in Gerrard's absence.

Baresi was interviewed a few days ago about Real Madrid ... And he said something along the lines that 'Alonso is a nobody as he adds nothing to Madrid' ... Oh well ...

Hahaha, did he?

Football on the continent is mental. Did you hear about the 50 Athletico Madrid Ultra's knocking on during a training session and DEMANDING to be let in? The club captains then had to explain why they'd so poo to 50 mentalists.

But it's in essence what everyone who's watched Madrid is saying .... He's still a wonderful footballer but he doesn't suit their system. He'll be the biggest bust of their big signings this summer - and I wouldn't be surprised to see him moving on.

Yah, Atleti are in a WORLD of shit ... Their luck is 10x worse than ours ... I feel bad for their fans - on that note, I can see 'em beating Real this week (or I'm hoping)

I don't think that's true G-Mak. I think the Madrid team as a whole looks a bit disjointed, they haven't quite found their feet with all the new signings, Alonso, much like the other signings is trying to adapt, unfortunately for them all though Pellergrini isn't quite sure how to play them and get the best of them all. Not yet anyway.

D-Mac's vision of the pitiful Alonso crying and shaking by his bedside might come true.

No he didn't he just said that Alonso and Diarra don't provide the right balance. Something we already knew having watched him play alongside Mascherano.

He played alongside Mascherano last year, I thought.

Think even more and you may get to the same point that Baresi has.
