Ha! This is all mildly amusing. Let's be honest MOTD is a seriously important program for the BBC. For them to actually cancel the show would be a massive deal. Problem is is that the wagons have clearly circled around Linekar. Nobody will really want to present it. It's funny too because all the likely candidates that you think might step all moonlight for BT Sport, Amazon.or someone else.

The BBC should just bite the bullet, be self deprectating, hold their hands up and just for one week get Vic & Bob, Ulrikakakaka and Matt Lucas to do it. 🙂

EDIT - Even Better.... Ron Manager or Alan Partridge....

I don't watch MOTD so meh but the BBC appear to have made a real mess of this.

Even if they did want rid of Lineker ultimately, this was not the way to go about it.

Normally it goes against the grain for me to lend support to an ex Toffee ....not in this case though.
 
As an aside - has anyone ever heard a funny story about Lineker and his divorce from his wife several years ago?. I was told this many moons ago by a couple of media dudes and it certainly is gossipy and apocryphal - so might well be bollocks but it’s still funny.

Apparently (so the rumour goes) he gave his wife at the time on her birthday a pressie and card but signed it ‘Love Gary Lineker’ in an autograph style! She had had enough of his ego and his ‘if I was made of chocolate I’d eat myself’ thing so ditched him. It’s probably bollocks but at the time I was told it it seemed plausible…😀

I don't doubt for a minute that he has an ego the size of a small county, but when you're right you are right. Those new laws are appalling

Do you agree with the government policy or don’t agree that Lineker likened them to Nazis?
 
Personally speaking the increase in aggressive, provocative language from the government regarding migrants on boats (a tiny, trifling number), does certainly echo early 30s rhetoric. Maybe not tail end of the 30s yet, but why ignore it in case it does get there?

We've already had protests outside hotels and assaults.

They are fucking Nazis. It’s a desperate act of a government who need to play on emotions of a certain demographic to try and win an election next year whilst simultaneously putting lives in danger.
