Agree with this entirely. I thought Dowd was good - loved his calm, sit back and evaluate the situation approach. Carra's tackle, however, was pretty poor and on another day would have seen him off the pitch leaving us a man down and 2-0 up. If he'd gone and the mancs came back to nick a point or even three then Carra would have been laid out by Kenny and rightly so.
As Vlad comments he got away with it and that changes the consequences but not the action. He endangered the whole team for what was an utterly unnecessary challenge. You get taught in the flaming under 8's not to give the opposition a way back in when you're all over them. We had them on toast and Carra put that in jeopardy; there was little reward available and plenty of downside.
