That's me fighting hyperbole with hyperbole. I admit that Hendo at times was important for us but I never felt that we expected that much from him, like we did with others.
Gini could be called a ghost, but was performing just as well as Hendo.

I guess the reason why I often use Hendo as an example is because I feel like some players deserve to be heralded like he is.
Ya, Hendo was never called Horrenderson or criticised the way Gini was.
I also though that Gini was hugely underrated at times and was hugely influential but no more than Hendo

One person called him Horrenderson. I called him something else.

I think people like an underdog story. Cunt was nearly sent to Fulham for Clint Dempsey FFS.
He turned it round and became a great captain for us. We love that kind of shit

The problem with Hendo was that we never really got to see Hendo the footballer except the season when we lost the title due to Gerard slipping, so as a footballer the biggest compliment we can give to him in his Liverpool career - is that we lost the title that year because Henderson could not play for us in that match against Chelsea and I think even the one after maybe ?

Then came the situation where I honestly believe - that limited his own self as a footballer by strictly following the managers instructions, we have seen glimpses of him in terms of what he can do, even for England he plays as a more attacking threat, for us he was along with Gini used as a pressing, and ball-recycling merchant and that's all. But at the same time he was made captain and acted like one on the pitch and we won those trophies and he was key to it while he could do the running and controlling. Many people will argue that a more talented player could have given us more - that is probably true as well, but we need some perspective on that, both Gini, and even Milner were better footballers but they to were reduced to ball recycling+pressers under Klopp. The only midfielder that was afforded any freedom of any sort under Klopp's winning years - was actually Ox, even Keita, and especially Thiago have had to play a different game to what they are used to. So using this as a baseline - I don't think we would have seen any difference even if we got a more progressive talented midfielder. I often think that Klopp was very happy to get rid of Coutinho - we used to concede so many goals when he was operating in the midfield.

Klopp's midfielders are like pistons moving in an engine - and it remains to be seen how he will use Mac10, and Szob, already the signs are they will be fucked by the middle of November - especially if he don't sign anyone else. Again, if we are honest we took the legs out of Fabinho, and Henderson and I am glad they have moved on. This idea that some of you have that signing a young 19 year old - we got him for 10 years - that is bollox, under Klopp they will be lucky if they have 6 years in them before they ask for a merciful move.

I’m sorry Mr Klopp, this bid is not for real.
Never meant to make your supporters cry
these journalist are full of shite.

I was never a big fan of Gini when he was playing for some reason, I think it was always the check back, 5 yard passes, lack of penetration or risk taking and slowing down all our attacks.

Countless times I labelled the guy a passenger or ghost but over time I realized to overcome my preference over what a midfielder should be in this side for the importance they actually play in the team. For the last 2-3 years or however long it's been now I value the importance he (as well as Fab, Hendo and Millie) played in our success. Robbo and Trent couldn't be these fullbacks who've changed the dynamic of how fullbacks are supposed to play or viewed in this modern time without these guys around.

Ok none of them were play-makers, none of them really had many goals or assists in them but they were always reliable in terms of fitness and availability (especially Gini).....they allowed Salah Sadio and Bobby to do their thing without paying too much attention what was coming back the other way.

I think we all know the reason.

Just fucking buy the bastard, worry about the tash later if that’s whats holding the deal up.

Maybe Big Jorge just likes thrashing himself off to YouTube compilations of young Brazilians while chilling in his Ibiza lair.

He looks Masher-esque mental…exactly what we need at dm..

Yeah, his defensive stats in the Brazilian league are nothing to write home about, but eye-test wise he looks like a hard fella - maybe that part of his game will stand out more in Europe. A bit like Lucas, actually.

So… if we do go for Andre and the deal is he arrives in Jan and we sign Lavia now - will that do?

Might as well get all our January signings out of the way nice and early.

The best set of highlights so far. Looks like a combination of certain qualities of Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Thiago. A bit concerned by his disciplinary record and overall he looks somewhat raw for Europe. But the talent is obvious and I would be very intrigued to see him grow and develop in the LCM/DM role next to Trent.

Here it's noticeable how his primary responsibility is in the first phase of the build-up – he is very much a midfield general in that sense, someone who will take the responsibility of receiving the first pass out of defence under pressure and progressing the play or even dropping down in defence and orchestrating the combinations himself. This could work well in partnership with Trent who still looks a little uncomfortable receiving the ball facing his goal and much prefers to get it in a pocket of space where he can instantly progress the play forward. Same with MacAllister who also possesses a defence-splitting pass which would be more effective further forward.

A bit concerned how he lays his hands on the ref's shoulders at 1:15 – this would be an instant red card here. Would be need to be retrained to cut that shit out immediately and forever. Also a few bad giveaways here, emphasizing his rawness.

Looking a lot more Thiago-eque in this set of highlights. The deception on his passes is really good and he has many different passes in his locker.

This game highlights more his defensive work (protecting the ball, trying to press) and his excellent burst of pace when in possession.

And finally this explains the unique tactical structure of Fluminense under Fernando Diniz. I would add to this that I saw glimpses of this philosophy in the way Ancelotti's Real sometimes purposefully attack in narrow, crowded spaces – he is the most "Brazilian" of the current great European coaches and it's fitting that he's going to coach the selecao next season.

Cheers Rurik (and for adding the Diniz bit afterwards)…of course a risk recruiting straight from Brazil (not least the adjustment required in any tendency towards engaging with refs) but there’s enough there to really excite.

He looks like he’s got the scope to thrive in England and enjoy being the tenacious irritant hub in midfield for us…I’d be intrigued to see how he works out.

In my view, we’re far too scared of taking a hit from recruiting straight out of South America or Eastern and Central Europe because in the main our scouting isn’t up to scratch. We wait for somebody else to

I would be quite happy - actually ecstatic - if we managed to land both Lavia and Andre 3000 to replace Fabinho and Thiago. Yes, both players are quite raw and we would have to live with some mistakes through the adjustment period - but I’m far more willing to be patient with players who obviously have the talent to reach world class levels because the journey will be fun and the payoff worth it. In fact seeing a top-class talent develop and grow in your team is probably the most fun part of football.

I would be happy if we signed Lavia now and agreed to a deal to get Andre in Jan.

Lavia, Andre, Bajcetic and Trent is a very nice quartet of double pivots to build around for the long term. There'd be some growing pains defensively for sure, but potentially they could be a top class group.

We're already sort of set with our set of 8s in Macallister, Szoboszlai, Jones, Elliott/Clark.

I'd be much more comfortable defensively if we could get in a really pacy and aggressive young CB, who is comfortable playing both RCB and LCB.

Not sure what the club's thinking on this is - but I wouldn't necessarily prioritise a left-footed CB.

If you can just get someone who is fast, aggressive, can cover large spaces and is good at one-on-ones, that's good enough. Basically look for a Rudiger type player who can slot in across the defence and use his top class athleticism to snuff out attacks.

One player I'd like us to look at in that profile is Tiago Djalo at Lille. Not just because he fits that profile, but also because he has 1 year left on his deal.

@dmishra Mate, any chance you can change the thread title to something more fun? Especially considering Fluminense is misspelled 😛

We also need to get it to 100 pages pronto.

UPD: love it!
