AS is reporting that Jose Mourinho will quit at season's end due to lack of support from the board. He wants to sign a striker to replace the injured Higuain (out for the year) and is not getting any funding.

AS is a load of ass. It's probably got no truth to it at all. He'll be pissed off at being 4/1 in a two horse race and there are rumours of a major bust up between Fanny Ronaldo and Pussy Ramos so he'll be pissed off, but not about to walk.

I have been reading that Mourinho and Valdano dont get along at all. Is Valdano that good of a DOF. The amount of managers and money he has managed to piss off is staggering.

I mentioned yesterday in the Gerrard thread that Clarke's appointment augurs well for us and could be a precursor to a Mourinho approach.

If he leaves, he'll just hover in a holding pattern, til the Citeh job comes up.

In spite of all his flaws, I'd have him at LFC without a doubt.
Mourinho = Winner

Most consistently successful club manager out there. People who talk about The Liverpool Way sometimes leave out one vital ingredient of it, and that's winning. Mourinho would bring that back for certain.

Just saying I'd welcome him if he did come.

Besides, that statement of his was very mysteriously put, so I can't help wondering whether to take it at face value - and in any case people can change their minds. I'm not forecasting that he'll come, but I'm not convinced the last word has necessarily been said or written about it yet either.

In other Madrid related news, some comments from Alonso in Spanish Vogue (according to Simon Clancy):

"'To play for Liverpool is something very special"
"There is a very intimate connection between the fans and players that doesn’t exist at other clubs"
"Even in bad times, the stands do not whistle, instead they sing, “You’ll Never Walk Alone"

Xabi's wife Nagore got in on the act: "It was the best move I made (coming to Liverpool). The relationship went a step further than usual"

Maybe its time those idiots in the board room in madrid started to open their eyes and weigh up the differences between Maureen and Valdano. Im sure theyd see mourinhos the bigger asset by far. And all Valdano has managed to do is blow hundreds of millions with no silverware to show for it. Granted he has signed some fantastic players. But legacies arent judged on having x amount of the best players in the world in your squad.
Its funny to watch beacause it seems like they'll bever learn, but in reality if they want to start overtaking Barca in Spain they would want to cut out the bullshitting around fairly quickly!!

By all accounts the Madrid press spent the entire summer making Mourinho out to be the best thing since sliced bread after vilifying poor Pelligrini. It'd be interesting to see what everyone thinks if Mourinho did end up leaving after one season.

Hmm I wonder.. Did anyone here mention that Jose and Madrid love would never stand longer than maximum a season (if they were lucky)?? How the hell do I know everything??

I would be over the moon if Jose came here.

I'd puke.

There are lots of rumours around Madrid. The whole dressing room bust up between Ronaldo and the Spanish players, namely Ramos, who Mourinho wants to sell, but he won't be allowed to as the President loves him. The President has a weekly lunch with Ramos and Cassius. Ronaldo is their big money signing so they need to keep him happy too, so they're a bit split on that. Mourinho wants to sign Tevez, and the board are telling him he already has enough players.

Mourinho isn't getting to call the shots. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he walked out, plus he knows they're not gonna win the league. Might be an easy way out for him.

Mourinho walk out on a challenge? The 'Special One' leaving a situation because he's 'struggling'? Naaaah can't be.

He walked out of Chelsea when they were struggling or was he sacked?

Sacked ...

Amazing that he seems to give up easily on a challenge, considering he's won everything anyway, what's the point? You'd think he'd reach a stage where he'd want to test himself working against the tide a bit more, instead of at clubs where money is more or less no issue.
