quite, I was just wondering where the hell the rest of the tickets go?! Does the FA need 35,000 seats to pamper to their "friends" and partners? That's fucking disgusting, the FA are a joke.

What's with the late kick off time? How long have I missed that?

The FA cup final ticket allocation: My question & The FA’s answer

Like so many others, I’m frustrated about the low number of tickets given to the supporters for the FA Cup final.
I asked the FA to explain themselves – and they did. Their response came quickly, only 20 minutes after I sent them the e-mail, so let’s give them credit for that. But the credit stops there.
The respond is very politically correct, but it doesn’t answer the questions in a proper and honest way. That’s because saying “money is too important” doesn’t look very good…
My e-mail to The Fa:
“In response to the ticket allocation (FA Cup final) details released today.
Each club has received an allocation of 25,074 tickets, in a stadium that has a captivity of over 90,000 seats.
This means that approximately 40,000 seats will go to other than the supporters. Everyone knows that sponsors, Wembley club members, special guests, etc. will be allocated a certain amount of tickets, but this number – 40,000 makes no sense at all.
It is easy to assume that this is about money.
Money, and not football fans having a wonderful time at one of the most famous arenas for the beautiful game.
As said earlier, everyone understands that not every single ticket will go to the fans, even though that would be the ideal way. But the numbers for this game is completely absurd.
I wish a response were someone from the FA will explain why the clubs has received so few tickets.
And a comment like “it was similar last season”, or anything like that, is not the type of response I’m looking for.
Ps.
I ask if this e-mail is not sent to the appropriate e-mail, that it will be re-sent to the correct one.
regards,
Lars

The Fa’s response:
“Dear Lars,
Thank you for contacting The Football Association.
The capacity of Wembley Stadium means that more fans can watch their teams compete at the Final than at any other venue in the country, more than 50.000. The FA works with each club to decide and agree on the ticketing allocation for The FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium. These tickets are distributed directly to the clubs’ supporters/season ticket holders.
A further 17,000 tickets are allocated to members of Club Wembley who are Wembley’s ‘season ticket’ holders and provide a vital, guaranteed stream of income which The FA is able to invest back into the game to benefit the whole of English football. The remaining tickets are allocated through the football family. The Football Family is made up of all the clubs who participated in this seasons FA Cup, FA Partners and the local County Football Associations who organise football throughout England.
Best wishes,

I for one believe that The FA could, if they wanted to make this better and easier for the fans. Now, supporters who attended all of the previous FA Cup games aren’t guaranteed a ticket. That’s harsh on the fans who spends so much time and money to follow their beloved football clubs.

If I could, I'd have the Big Six teams say to the FA, "Hey, you know what, fuck your FA Cup, we aren't going to play in it unless you;

A. Play the semi finals at a neutral, distance-appropriate venue based on the participants, so that our cash-strapped fans aren't ripped off with a devalued trip to Wembley when it isn't the best location for the game.
B. Allocate 35,000 tickets to finalists, with unsold allocations then going to the 'Club Wembley' people, or whoever"

And if the FA didn't go along with that then we would be favourites to win it every year after that😎

Were there as many empty seats in the semi as there appeared to be? This is what everyone expected, but it's disgraceful nonetheless.

Basically all that happens is every club owner in the land gets a few hundred tickets (though of course some more than others) & they sell them on to a third party company (there's only a a few, & are in no way connected with the fact their relatives & close friends within the FA) at around face value. They are then sold on to companies to sell as part of horrendously overpriced packages (legal touts, usually again run those connected to the FA loosely) & to individuals in bulk (normal touts).

Exactly the same model Fifa use to distribute World Cup tickets.

The Beautiful Game, ladies & gentlemen.

Incidentally, every single amateur Football League in England affiliated to the FA gets 2 tickets. There are hundreds of saturday and sunday amateur leagues in Liverpool alone, ranging from childrens leagues to veterans. That is where the 'Football Family' tickets go.

And no doubt some of these get sold on for many multiples of their face value and so adds to the clubs funds and reduces the need for support from the FA

This is nothing new. I don't think we ever got more than 25k for FA Cup finals. When I was a kid they'd say something like 'all season ticket holders with reference numbers ending in 012345 have qualified for a ticket. Season ticket holders with 6789 will have to chill in their boots for a few days and hope that the other nobs don't buy them. And then they'd have the sale at the ground only (no phone bookings), so it was as busy as match day with a queue right the way round the ground and 4 fucking windows open, and you'd have to bunk off school and there were always pigs there looking to arrest truants, I'd normally start queuing at around 5am, and then you could attempt to bribe the woman at the ticket office with an extra twenty quid for an extra ticket, which often worked as there was no electronic system in place so no way of her getting caught.

Oh and another thing, remember always getting told that you should tell the truth and that would be better for you. Well one time loads of lads had bunked off to get tickets, so classes were all missing quite a few people - and the next day we had an assembly and the head said he knew what had happened and he'd be speaking to the usual suspects to see why they were off but if anyone wanted to stand up and say they bunked off to get tickets then it would be for the best, so I did, alone, and was the only person to get a mad load of detention and had to sit in doing work during games for weeks. No one else even got spoke to.
