Shame.

Can’t stand the bloke but I don’t wish that on him, hope he recovers fully and gets well soon

Football would be shite if your team won everything every time. I'm grateful to him in a weird way for a good rivalry and plenty of talking points, hopefully he makes it.

Ah no.

Again, not a fan but shit way to go if it comes to it.

Hope he makes a good recovery and is around to watch Liverpool win number 6.

Alex Ferguson is in intensive care after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is in intensive care after undergoing emergency surgery for a brain haemorrhage, the club have confirmed.

Ferguson is reported to have fallen ill on Friday and admitted to Macclesfield District Hospital before being transferred later to Salford Royal.

The 76-year-old's son Darren - who is Doncaster Rovers manager - missed his team's game with Wigan Athletic on Saturday due to "family issues".

And United confirmed on Saturday that Ferguson, their manager for 27 years until 2013, is recovering after a procedure that went "very well".

A United statement read: "Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone surgery today for a brain haemorrhage.

"The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery. His family request privacy in this matter."

The Scot has been a regular visitor to Old Trafford following his decision to stand down five years ago and was in attendance last Sunday to present a gift to long-time adversary Arsene Wenger, who is leaving Arsenal at the end of the season.

Ferguson overcame a slow start at United to preside over a period of unprecedented success, leading the Red Devils to 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League crowns.

Ferguson attended a Hillsborough memorial service which I went to, I then found out how supportive he'd been at the time of the disaster when I looked into it.

He also attended the funerals of Bob Paisley & many years later of his wife also.

He achieved a great deal as a manager & did so repeatedly by completely rebuilding his side & changing tactics to find a way to better his rivals time & again.

The man deserves our respect at the very least for that humanity he showed in times which really matter, if not for his achievements as a manager, & he certainly has mine.

As the years went by and he got older and was still managing, I did enjoy telling a particular thick United supporter in work that it was just on the news that Ferguson had died.

He feel for it nearly every week.

I've always dreaded the day he dies. The eulogies and well wishes will flood social media which I intend to avoid.

Would feel weird if he died. I don't despise him or anything, but by no means do I like him. Hope he pulls through like.

Hey ... he is the King of the enemy but I do not wish him serious illness just because he knocked us of our perch.

I hope he is alright.

I never liked him but as others have commented he was always tremendously respectful about Hillsborough and he maintained his friendship with King Kenny over decades of rivalry. I respect him for what he achieved and the way he did it, hope he recovers from this but there had been rumours he was struggling physically towards the end of his time at Utd, doing that job for 30 years must take a toll.
