Quite. If they have any sense the FA should make it clear he's on his last chance, make him apologise and move on. It's either that or chase after a Bournemouth manager who exudes a Rodgers-like aura whilst barely winning any league games. Mind you, the best of England's recent managers are the ones who've departed after a scandal - Robson, Venables and Hoddle, so maybe this will convince the FA they've got a gem on their hands, rather than just in his pocket.

The FA will struggle to let him off with using abusive and/or insulting words which make reference to a disability. He has to be charged, and then receive a fine and touchline ban for that alone. If it doesn't happen, if I were a manager I'd be branding every fucking referee under The Lying Rag a total spastic.
Does he even do that? He says 'Roy' and then 'Woy' - presumably the second time he says 'Woy' - the recording's not that clear. Is that REALLY a big thing? A couple of years ago Gary Lineker chatted to Hodgson about how widespread the impersonations of his speech were, and Hodgson said it didn't bother him at all (not that that provides licence for anyone to keep doing it, but still...). TalkSport regularly had someone not only making him say 'woy' all the time but also sound like a Dickensian stereotype Jew. Every tabloid has used 'Woy; in innumerable backpage headlines. One single aurally ambiguous 'Woy' on a dodgy recording would, IMHO, be pretty questionable grounds for dismissal.

Ha. It does amuse me that attitude. I'd love to hear people who say that come up with a solution to the problem hmrc is faced with when dealing with corporate tax disputes, spend millions of taxpayers money fighting it & risk getting nothing, or having to spend more millions in appeal, or take a lower amount & not have to spend anything on legal representation.
I'm not sure fat Sam is even remotely intelligent enough to consider anything using facts alone though.

This nonsense in the media about the FA 'needing to be seen to be consistent'. Since when? Yesterday? Any relatively competent legal team ought to be able to unearth ample evidence within minutes of the FA being consistently inconsistent. (As our legal team should have done.) As it is, it's just insulting to pretend that these decisions aren't made mainly or only on subjective grounds. If it suits the relevant parties (the FA and media), it'll be taken seriously, and if it doesn't suit them, it won't. Robson was told he'd get the sack if he didn't jump first when the tabloids caught him cheating on his wife, mainly because his record up to then as manager was so-so and the FA didn't expect him to have a great World Cup in 1990. Sven, on the other hand, stayed in his job in spite of multiple indiscretions because the FA were still convinced at that time they had a proper European manager in place. It would be much easier to tolerate these idiots if they just went ahead and did as they wished, but to pretend they're being 'consistent,' well, it's enough to make you want to throw up.
