Not really. It's like any non-exec role. You get paid shagloads for being able to pick up the phone to your contacts. Fairly standard stuff for very connected people.
Its on SSN now.
Appaz hes been caught in a sting offering Malay business types tutoring on how to get around FA third party ownership rules for players.
I hate to say this, but based on my very limited perusal of the interview and its content, allied with a distinct lack of interest, I'm beginning to think "so what?" a little bit.
The FA will struggle to let him off with using abusive and/or insulting words which make reference to a disability. He has to be charged, and then receive a fine and touchline ban for that alone. If it doesn't happen, if I were a manager I'd be branding every fucking referee under The Lying Rag a total spastic.
Malay Business Type?
What is a Malay Business Type? Intriguing... 🙂
"Gareth Southgate, the England under-21 manager, is likely to be called upon to assume a caretaker role for England’s next two World Cup qualifiers on October 8 and 11 if Allardyce is sacked".
Bloody hell. Gareth Southgate. If anything he's even less encouraging than Allardyce.
Does he even do that? He says 'Roy' and then 'Woy' - presumably the second time he says 'Woy' - the recording's not that clear. Is that REALLY a big thing? A couple of years ago Gary Lineker chatted to Hodgson about how widespread the impersonations of his speech were, and Hodgson said it didn't bother him at all (not that that provides licence for anyone to keep doing it, but still...). TalkSport regularly had someone not only making him say 'woy' all the time but also sound like a Dickensian stereotype Jew. Every tabloid has used 'Woy; in innumerable backpage headlines. One single aurally ambiguous 'Woy' on a dodgy recording would, IMHO, be pretty questionable grounds for dismissal.
I think that, & calling the rule of third party ownership ridiculous, are the biggest issues, just cos it undermines him as their representative. If they do sack him it wil be because he called them out over Wembley. I think they can put up with everything apart from being told they're wrong
Replace Woy with Negrito, and the laws of the game will reveal themselves to you.
Yes, thanks, I'm aware of them. Have you actually heard the recording?
Glenn Hoddle's going to be spitting mad if Sam gets away with this.
"All I did was posit the theory that disableds are all the victims of karmic retribution from a vengeful God for the terrible things they did in a previous life. I didn't ask for £400,000 for it, either."
Sam Allardyce is reportedly set to be sacked as England manager. (Source: The Times)
It will meet on Tuesday morning when new chairman Greg Clarke and chief executive Martin Glenn must decide whether the issue is one of poor judgement or something more serious. "I want all the facts, to hear everything from everyone and make a judgement about what to do," Clarke told The Times. "Natural justice requires us to get to the bottom of the issues before we make any decision. It is not appropriate to pre-judge the issue. With things like this you have to take a deep breath."
They're gonna keep piling it on every few hours aren't they?
