Got to hand it to the Mirror though for really getting to the nub of the matter. Their online headline is: 'SAM ALLARDYCE FIGHTING FOR HIS JOB AFTER MOCKING ROY HODGSON'S SPEECH IMPEDIMENT'. Yes, that's right, making dodgy financial deals and advising on how to circumvent FA regulations - mere piffle, but mocking Roy's speech impediment? Off with his head!!!

The first concern should be the FA. Allardyce had a reputation for shady deals and greedy attitudes years before he was considered for the job - there was even a BBC investigation into his activities, which earned them a Ginsoak-style ban from Fat Sam. So where was their due diligence?

And if they sack him, then they're really in deep shit, because there's no one else around except Southgate, and he's certainly not the man to make this squad of wimps into mentally tough warriors, seeing as he's presided over several dismal collapses in under 21 tournaments. At this rate they'll be hiring Neil Warnock!

It would be funny if they DID object to Roy being called Woy. The repercussions would be huge. Just imagine, in four years time, there are all these promising players in their early 20s, and suddenly their Facebook posts from the summer of 2016 are retrieved, with 'Woy's a wanker' and 'Woy Out!' etc. Long term bans for masses of players!

According to the Dewsbury Reporter*, they already have:

"The meeting with reporters also saw Allardyce appear to be filmed questioning predecessor Hodgson's decision at Euro 2016, at times calling him "Woy" - a word used in a headline in 2012 that the FA called "unacceptable" and relating to Hodgson's rhotacism."

Ha ha, that's priceless. I'm pretty sure the Mirror and other papers have referred to Roy as Woy, so good luck to them covering THAT aspect!

It seems a bit weird. Is it the fact "Woy" references a real-life impediment, whereas mocking nicknames like "wally with the brolly" or "Turnip" aren't genuine medical conditions and therefore are OK?

It's very complex.

I think a lot of it seems to be an arrogant, slightly thick blowhard talking shit in a pub, giving it the big "I am" and slagging off his employers and previous incumbent. Which isn't illegal.

But is rather embarrassing - and telling - if it's the fucking England manager doing it. What a tit.
 
I bet Sir Alf wouldn't have been caught out. Now there was a man who was cautious about giving out too much information. In one of my favourite interviews, Alf - of course, a notorious snob who tried desperately to hide his humble background and sound posh - was asked: 'I believe you actually come from working class stock?' Alf, looking a bit queasy, replied: 'Indeed. From Dagenham, I gather'. Not 'I'm from Dagenham' but merely 'From Dagenham, I gather'! Learn from him, Sam!

Normally I'd agree with you but I do make exceptions for Allardyce. Any step that can take him out of the limelight is a step in the right direction.

Neil Warnock (LOL - but then it is the FA). I would not be surprised if the likes of Ferguson who had a very cordial relationship with many of the English managers in this league struck deals with them or got something from them for some of his victories. Ferguson kind of timed his departure in a moment where the PL has many foreign managers and less likely to give a shit about his mind games.
 
I've now watched it. Well, some of it, I got bored.

It's part of a wider year-long investigation into some questionable dealings with transfers between players, agents and managers.

It doesn't really seem that interesting to me, Allardyce notwithstanding. Greedy people involved in football and bending rules? WOW, REALLY?

As for what he says about Woy and Neville and whatever. Stupid, irrelevant pub talk. Who cares? He should probably get sacked just for being an idiot.

I was wondering where that hidden camera was actually hidden. I always thought they were in briefcases and light fittings or whatever.This footage looks like it was shot at head height, on some kind of Go-Pro camera attached to a fella's head.

Surely Sam and his mates would have spotted that?
