Fabinho leaving?

Is Klopp going to stay for a 2 or 3 season rebuild though? I'd obvs trust him with it BUT does he want to do it? He wants the Germany job, when is he going to move?

That's why it's got to be a quick rebuild. Pull the bandage off and get it done this year. Have to be on a clear trajectory back to the very top by the end of this season.

I agree that a prolonged rebuild may not be in his plans.

I think this upcoming season will be transitional. Can see us finishing outside top 4 again but revamping the squad for another half decade of challenging at the top.

If we can execute the transition well, I'm okay with sacrificing this season. Better than hanging around 4th but with little prospect of slingshotting to the top, imo.

I agree. Unless we start shopping in Tchouameni, Caicedo bracket, I believe the expectation will be to help the new signings land on their feet and for Klopp to use this season as to tweak the system.

I do believe if the new team shows promise, Klopp might be tempted to extend his contract. Too early to say that or think about that. While the cash being offered for Fabinho, Hendo is not a lot, the wage savings is huge. Taking a couple of steps backward to launch ourselves forward might be the best strategy.

I'm beginning to wonder if our plan has gone awry.

Keita, Ox, Milner, Hendo, Fabinho, maybe Thiago. I know we needed a turnover but that's drastic.

It looks like we didn't expect to lose Hendo and Fabinho but we either can't turn down the offer or keep the other.

Klopp said he wanted new players in place by pre-season, that ain't happening.

I think we'll end up going into the new season light and struggling. And then playing catch-up.

Yep - I’m with you on this.

It reminds me of that old, was it Mike Tyson quote, about everyone having a plan until they get punched in the face.

I think we had a plan - not to everyone’s taste, but Milner being released when Curtis has to be registered, Thiago’s contract running out as Carvalho needs to be registered, Hendo’s contract running out as Harvey needs to be registered, I think Fabinho’s runs to about the time Badgertits needs to be registered.

That feels like more than a coincidence - like a succession plan of some sort where we supplement by buying in one or two key players when required or to replace if they don’t develop.

It’s kind of what City are now doing - it keeps the team together for longer, but should make them a better unit.

Looks like we’d done our key business apart from a left sided CB and were looking at bringing in Lavia as an option if the price was right - and likely it would be if Chelsea sign Caciedo.

This Saudi thing is the punch in the face - either goes 2 ways - wakes us up to the fact we’re now in a fist fight or a sign we’re about to take a battering.

Not sure what way it’ll go yet. On top of the 2 we were looking at, we’re potentially looking at another 2-3 midfielders.

It might work out long term - but getting back into the CL (and for my money making sure we’re in this new World Club Comp in the US) is critical.

I’m hoping we have a serious crack at winning the Europa League, while getting back on track in the League - I have a feeling City won’t win it this coming season and we need to be back to somewhere close to our best.

I think we will surprise a few people this season and finish close to the top. Utd to have a bad season. City to win.

It's hard to disagree, but they've not strengthened the most yet, and they've lost gundogan, silva

Kovavic is a good signing. They'll get one or two more but even if they don't, if a couple of their key players (i.e. De Bruyne) stay fit for most of the season, it's hard to look past them.

He's a good signing, he's just got huge boots to fill

Possibly Mahrez & Walker too - that’s a de Bruyne injury away from easily dropping 10-12 points.

Kovacic is a good player - but he doesn’t have the goal output of Gundogan or Silva (if he goes) - They’ll be relying on Haaland to finish everything again.

Agree Utd won’t have as good a season - Chelsea should be better, Arsenal will have a dip - Newcastle is the interesting one.

Here we go!!!!
I heard Mahrez was close to leaving for Al Hilal for about 30m but heard nothing really on Silva, wasn't he supposedly really close to leaving last summer for Paris/Barca? What happened Stevie!!!! I demand answers!!!!

Hang on…I’m scrolling through Romano’s Twitter feed to find out!!!!

Silva might still stay there, right?
Fwiw, I agree that City are walking it. We should obviously be better than last year though, as should United, unfortunately. Arsenal have done pretty well in the transfer window by all accounts and should be fine. Newcastle to drop massively, Spurs to fall back into mediocrity once Kane fucks off and I have no idea what Chelsea even are anymore.

Appaz had his medical and we’re looking at the final payment terms. Guessing its confirmed in the next few days.

Never understand why deals take so long, this was apparently agreed last weekend and her we still waiting. At the end of the transfer window they take no time at all.
