European teams tidbits

Bayern lost to Lazio 0:1; they didn’t have a single shot on target and Upamecano got himself sent off. The knives are out; looks like the Tuchel era in Munich will end much sooner than anyone anticipated - unless he can turn it around very quickly and decisively.

Nagelsmann would have found it all very amusing if he hadn’t accepted the position at the national team, where he is coaching the same players and is failing with them just as badly as Tuchel does at the club level. Maybe the coaches are not the problem…

Note the 1-0 was in Rome with the return in Munich to come. They'll likely still get through. But this isn't a very strong Bayern even with Kane.

Tuchel is a good manager but it was absurd for Bayern to sack Nagelsmann and they'll soon be doing the same again.

Bizarre club.

Bloody hell - Rangers yesterday vs Ross Co. 43 shots with 23 shots on target - only 3 goals as the keeper made a SPL record 19 saves. Rangers now level with Celtic on points, GD and games played.
Clement doing a fantastic job up there……Rodgers ehhh not so much.

Tuchel seems like an absolute cunt, and in all honesty feels a bit overrated as a manager.

Sarri is great isn’t he, always had a soft spot for him. Chelsea were mad to get rid so quick.

It’s not like he hangs around at clubs - he’s managed 21 different clubs in about 34 years of management.

I always thought he wanted to go back to Italy so left?

He’s a sound guy but he’s not really the type of character you want managing your FC.

Make it happen.

Did you not read the report that his reps contacted us last summer but we told them we were not interested?

Who wouldn't be interested in the best player in the world?

Circumstances have changed, no 200m fee attached to him anymore.

Adrian Thiago Matip already 360k/week off the books.

Find the rest and bring him home baby.

If only he wasn't a complete bawbeg.

Even Klopp would struggle to contain his ego and demands, nevermind a new manager coming in and trying to follow our most successful manager in 30 years.

His ego is very much overstated and it's usually down to lazy journalism filled to the brim with jealousy that portray him in this negative light. Prime example was when he was quoted as saying "a club like PSG should be winning CL's, it's a disappointment when we don't come close" or something like that, then it's twisted to mean he thinks he's bigger than the club and he hates everybody at the club.

When you see him play he's just a lad that wants to express his desire to play football.....the guy already turned down billions and trillions to play in Saudi, he's not money hungry.

We can't afford him, not should we. Unless we do some mad ting no one expects

He's absolutely going to Madrid. His pay demands would destroy almost any team

Maybe it's his annual $171m salary that's the issue?

That was only for this season because PSG were silly enough to put a 100m loyalty bonus in his contract, I don't even know if he's entitled to that now....his contract at that mess of a club is so illiterate I can see court action being taken by 1 side or the other.

His base salary is round about 60-70m a year and even if he opts for Madrid, he'll have to agree to a pay cut.

Yeah so let's just pay him the 60-70m a year then and break our wage structure

Well he'll have to agree to a pay cut, I say let's see what offer Madrid make....and go something like 5% over.

The fact there's no transfer fee involved is huge because effectively he'd already be on our books as a 150-200m player, think about it......we can keep him around even if it's for a few years, win everything there is to win, then sell him on to Madrid or Barca for what he'd be worth.

And what do you propose we pay the likes of Trent, Virgil and Mo who only have 18 months left? You think they'll be wanting less money?

Get Trent and Virgil tied down in the next month, Virgil can stay on his 220k a week for another 2 years until 2027 (I doubt he'll get better anywhere else and if he knew what's good for him would agree to that) and Trent a new 4-5 year deal on 200k a week.

With Mo it's a little different, we have to see what happens.

Trent is supposedly already on £200k a week from various reports
Could be. I usually go with the figures off Spotrac/Statistica which says 180k.

I suppose with him we could negotiate going on par with Virgil as our joint 2nd (at the time) highest earner pending weekly evaluation of his defensive performances.

I think getting a new manager and SD is more important than Mbappe. Then work out what works. Mbappe would sell a million shirts on his own plus the expensive hospitality seat.
No doubt sponsorship will deals come in left, right and centre..
I am not going to do the maths that's why you have @Beamrider here. I think a deal can be done where through rev share on Merch and Commercial deals which uses Mbappe.

Well of course but getting a new manager and a SD in is a given so we don't have to worry about it.....getting the right people in those roles is a different matter but again the board have the choice to who they appoint & we won't know until much later down the line if they were the right people.

Fans straight away will look to his wages and write him off without looking at the full picture.

Some fans will straight away look at the one player picture & work out how it is affordable without looking at the real full picture & realise it would completely fuck up our wage structure and we either bring everyone up to comparable levels and fall foul of FFP or have a bunch of disgruntled players who will not perform and end up looking to leave

Its kind of irrelevant what the fans think... The club, along with coach and SD will workout whats affordable and what the ROI is.
I think first priority is to work-out who stays and who goes and then work-out who we need. If its true that FSG have wanted Mbappe for years then they'll make it work, if however, if its beyond the club means I'd be okay with it. I would hate for him to go to City though
