Eriksen Twitter rumour

Fellaini will go to United in the last week and Everton, or Norwich or Southampton or Hull will end up with this lad for 10M. I've seen it in me tea-leaves.

(Sorry Ross & Ryan):

According to Voetbal International, Zenit St Petersburg have made a fourth offer for Christian Eriksen, but for the fourth time the Danish midfielder has turned them down.

(Sorry Ross & Ryan):

Why do you apologize mate?

They are both big lads who can read, they can just stay out of the thread. It's not like it's a wolf dressed up like a sheep is it. I mean, it's right there, in the title.

It says ERIKSEN

PS I am glad for the update although I hoped he had signed...

From what I understand, Eriksen's best position is in the middle and his secondary position is on the left wing. Most of his goals seem to come from the left flank, when he shoots with his right foot.

If Eriksen were to play together with Coutinho, this could provide for a nice dynamic of interchanging positions, with Coutinho starting on the left, but naturally drifting to the middle and Eriksen starting centrally and drifting to the left. With both of them being highly intelligent and energetic runners, this could make some defenses very uncomfortable. This will definitely give them something else to think about other than how to stop Suarez.

I think buying Eriksen would make sense from every angle: he is clearly talented and skillful, eager to prove himself on a new level, not too expensive due to his contract situation, would be happy to play in the same team as Agger (and vice versa) and historically we have a good record with players from Scandinavia and North Europe. He seems like a pretty loyal bloke too and we need more of that in our team now.

Send memo to BR and transfer committee. 😀

I really hope we sign him. He has turned down City not so long ago and has turned down a few clubs in the last 12 months in the reports are to be believed.

He is a very good footballer. Is there something we are missing?

Could be trying to keep improving for a shot at Barca or Madrid.

I'm only guessing as I have no clue - he's waiting for a club where he can play on a higher level than Ajax, but can continue his development so he can reach a club at the level of Barca/Madrid (dunno if this is possible obviously)

I'm under the impression Ericksen is waiting a move to suit him or he'll go free next season.

He has already said he will not move for free but would sign a new contract for Ajax. Siem De Jong and Daley Blind have both done this.

It's weird. He fits the bill, is affordable but no one wants to touch him with a barge pole.

Exactly, and only 12months on his contract left. No big european clubs are interested? Something is obviously up or one of the big teams would have been all over him.

It just seems to be that he is fussy about where he goes but the clubs he wants already have players in that position.

I call bullshit on the signing new contract thing.
He probably thinks clubs will fall over themselves a la Willian to pay Ajax £30m.
With no one offering more than £10m he'll find it hard to leave Ajax if he signs a new contract.

I have a feeling Southampton / Everton will launch a bid soon...

My guess is he's hoping for a move to one the elite clubs in Europe, but none of them seem to be interested.

They might be in January though when his price goes down even further.

I don't think it's that. I reckon he wants to go where he thinks he'll fit in. If Dortmund for example had've followed up their interest with a bid he'd be gone and we wouldn't be having this discussion right now. Similarly I think if we go in for him he'll jump at the opportunity because we're a young team, playing the right kind of football and he can continue his development unimpeded by an array of 30M signings.

I can't say why other clubs aren't in for him, but I sure as fuck know why people on here ain't so keen.

(He does look pretty good mind)

So you think he's an intelligent footballer with the foresight to put his career before money?

More chance of finding rocking horse shit.

I do. That is why he turned down City and he is currently turning down Russian sides. He seems happy enough to stay at Ajax if something more suitable does not come up.

I love him just for that. Good to see a player who doesn't let money control his decisions too much.
