Eriksen for €25M

I'd take him in Jan all day, but he does seem to have downed tools. Also doesn't make much sense for him to go in Jan when he can hold off for another 5months and triple his pay. If he's stiffed spurs upto now, I can't see him being all generous and allowing them to sell him in Jan.
And in the summer, he's just not worth 500k a week which is what he'll want. On current form he's worth about 50k a week, and then there's the risk he turns into that form permo like Sanchez did - fuck that.

Good comparison. Still I think Torres kept on performing and scoring until that very day he left, and then suddenly stopped.

Those trips to the Reeperbahn have addled your memory, Insig. Torres' performance levels were dropping at least a season, probably more, before he actually went.

You got to hope yesterday is part of a run of bad form and not his new norm... because he refused to get close to Robertson or do anything of note defensively. He was bad.

He's not a winger? And to play him against the most energetic, aggressive, dynamic FB in the league will always make him look bleak. It's very weird how Poch has been misusing/not using him but I guess he's just pissed at him/the club.

Spurs without Eriksen will struggle to get in the Prem Top 10. Last two seasons they've not only been at the races in the league but also in a Champions League final. And he's had a MAJOR say in them doing so.

Anyways we'll see what happens next.

Idk KHL, where does Erikson fit into this team? He isn't dynamic enough for the front 3 or defensively solid enough for the middle 3. He just may not fit into this squad despite his overall quality. Son on the otherhand would be perfect in any of the front 3 positions.
Both would fit IMO. Eriksen definitely fits the mould for Klopp (creative attacking midfielder who can run and press), can you imagine him feeding our front three ? And Son would be great to cover both wings.

I have been a firm admirer of Eriksen, but I don't think he is what we should look at now. We need to find the ones delivering those numbers in the next 5 seasons, and not the past five seasons.
He's going to deliver those numbers for the next 5 five seasons too.

Form is temporary.

Spurs fans who watch him day in day out are saying he has permanent resting bitch face about him and due to the shenanigans with his Mrs and his teammate, the atmosphere is toxic. You'd think him being Danish, he would be in an Open Relationship.

Firstly he aint Norwegian. And second of all his wife is not Norwegian, so in this case she would not be in an open relationship anyway, only him.

He's nowhere near as good as KHL makes him out to be, and his form has been poor for about a year - especially since the summer.

But I imagine he just can't be arsed at Spurs anymore. Maybe those rumours are true. He's a better player than he's showing, though, he's kinda like a De Bruyne lite.

He should up his game when he moves on, but I can't see where he's going to go. He's not good enough or as big a name for the top, top teams, like Real, Barca, City etc. I doubt we'd be interested, Bayern have already said no. Man Utd? He's not going to want to go there, surely? That leaves someone like Juventus or PSG? Possibly. Easier, slower league, guaranteed trophies, CL every year.

In Feb he will be 28, if no big club comes in for him, then I can see him heading off to China and earn to £500k + a week

That's probably not true.

Tbh I've always been an Erikson fan and wanted him too when clearly no one in world football except for Spurs did. But he's at that age where he isn't going to get fitter and his style is now a question mark for our team... I think he'd be a great signing for a lot of teams and if Klopp wanted him (which isn't going to happen because of attitude based on the first time he was available) I'd want him too.

We need to buy younger players who can develop into what we need and still have the legs for what Klopp's system demands.

What a weird comment.

So he's been benched this Season, a lot, turned a few games around when subbed on but he has suffered from the uncertainty surrounding his future which is not that uncommon I guess. It has hurt his form too but it's hardly his own choice "no to play to his best". He's still the most vital player for Spurs, as every game without him has so evidently showed.

So to all the "experts" like Lothar and Carra and the posters on here jumping the bandwagon all queing up to tell everyone he's not good enough, you are having a fucking laugh.

Did I say he wasn't good enough?

Agree with you. If looking at a Scandinavian midfielder these days we should look at Ødegaard, as he has the potential to be massive. Eriksen will not go from here and do better than i.e. Ox or Keita which we already have.

A few seasons ago, he'd be a good fit for us, but now - given his age, and how he's downed tools at Spurs, we can do so much better.

Do you really want a player who stops trying when the going gets tough? Nope.

Plus - we're European Champions. We can be picky.

He's overrated. I've been saying it for years.

A very good player, most definitely not in the top strata of world talent.

It's much more convincing when you're talking about trends at clubs like Real and Barca, if the last two big players they signed - literally about three months ago -weren't both 28 and cost £100m

Carra’s Take on it doesn’t agree. He said he’d often look at Gerrard after 5 mins each week as they’d know which Torres turned up. It fluctuating week to week.

Roy Keane’s analysis was hilarious

People said the same about Spurs without Bale

I disagree with Carra a lot of times. But you have to remember this was the most delutional period ever, and Gerrard is one who has to look himself in the mirror and ask if 100% scouse turned up every time.

Look Torres stats and rating for the 6 months before we sold him and compare those to his first 18 months and you will see you have Torres tinted glasses on. He was a shadow of himself

So you seriously compare a team including the likes of Alonso, Mascher, Neayoun, Babel, Riise and led by Rafa to a team of Poulsen, Konchesky, Jovanovic led by Hodgoson and blame Torres for not showing up?

He scored 4 goals the last month before his transfer.

My recollection is he was generally mediocre that season EXCEPT for the home game v Chelsea, where he was temporarily back to his unplayable best. I wonder why ...

So's mine, I have to say. It reminded me of McMoneyman downing tools before him, though the financial repercussions were a lot less unfair on the club than they had been back then.
