England v Algeria.

i do know, maybe our definition of attitude is different. i am not saying england's players are lazy for not working hard. it is simply they don't appreciate the need to. they're too used to having the other team chase them down in the premiership. its a mistake, not a bad attitude.

when gerrard comes back to liverpool i will call him a cunt if he were to carry on working hard for us. because his job at liverpool is to attack and destroy inferior teams. not chase them around the fucking pitch. does this make sense?

I thought Ken, FFF and Squig's nailed it on the previous page.

I haven't really felt that Capello got the lineup or the formation quite right but that doesn't excuse the attitude of the players in general. Are they so stupid as to think they can afford to screw things up in order to teach the manager or others a lesson? He's going to be around, doing his job for far longer than them - they've got this chance and that's about it for many of them.

That performance was difficult to watch; insipid in so many ways it left you with a slightly sick feeling in the stomach that they could seem so apathetic about playing for their country in the biggest tournament on earth. Gerrard was as guilty as anyone in this and the longer the game went on the more the Algerians grew in confidence. Many of them must have wondered at how easy it is to become a household name if you play in the premiership.

The last paragraph makes perfect sense. It's the rest I'm struggling with a little.

As far as I'm concerned, complacency, arrogance, a disproportionate opinion of one's own ability, not putting sufficient effort in - all of which you've outlined in one way or another - ALL pertain to a bad attitude.

the fans also have a disproportionate view of their ability too. and the fans demand they play the way they do for their clubs. even the manager demands it. so its unfair to say its a bad attitude when all they are trying to do is what people have asked them to. looking back i can feel some sympathy with most of the players because they honesly don't understand what they are doing wrong. the only person that's been a cunt is john terry for having the arrogance to make up ridiculous excuses.

that team could really use a player like roy keane to boss them around, carragher is not far off come to think of it. or someone like paul scholes who knows what to do when he has time on the ball. capello doesn't seem so stupid in retrospect.
