How would people feel if City were docked points for FFP violations?
If dreams like this can come true I'd also want the six numbers for the next euro millions draw ......and an extra couple of inches ........and hotel, match tickets and flight reservations for June 1st

Sure, God's a cunt anyway.

There - I said it, send me to hell ye fucking bollox
Just so's you recognize the place when you get there.

It has been a joy this season, lets not forget we are up against a team that is backed by the financial muscle of a state. We can celebrate the achievements of this team and I think its best summed up for me by Souness

"This is a fabulous Liverpool team, and I can't tell you in my lifetime where you have such an outstanding runner-up. I liken it to the World Cup in 1982 and Brazil. They were the best team never to win the World Cup. This Liverpool team is the best team not to win the Premier League. They have been fantastic all the way through. They are a team without a weakness, but they just drew one game too many and that ultimately cost them."

I'd feel like they had cheated us out of a legitimate title win.

Anyways, forget about that.

No team goes from 4th to 1st. Or makes up 25pts in a year.

But historically teams can go from 2nd to 1st. And make up 1pt.

With the right investment and the squad sticking together, I don't see why we can't be even better next year. It's crucial we win the CL (for morale), and then fill out the squad with top class quality.

Studge, Lallana, Moreno etc out.

Jovic, Fekir, Sessengon etc in.

We need to have a bench to rival Man City's. We already know we have a first team to do so.

It goes deeper than that for me. City strangled 14 teams in a row to win the league.

We need other teams to lift against them.

Not that we can complain we were a penalty miss away from losing home and away.

Draw both games or better yet win them next season and we will be on the right track

And where exactly would you like those inches Shay ?

Epic season. We've got a manager who couldn't be more at one with the club and its values. We're watching him assemble a squad that continues to evolve and address areas of weakness and turn them into strengths. This isn't some one trick pony, he's constantly changing his system and personnel to find a winning formula. I've never enjoyed being a Liverpool fan more than the past two years. Fucking pumped for the CL Final.

Whilst I'd love FFP to do something for the future, it would be weird to see them do anything retrospectively as that opens up serious challenge around loss of earnings etc that can be proven. Imagine if they started next season with a deficit - although I expect it will be a financial restriction or fine rather than anything else.

Them starting on -100 points would be excellent. But that only leaves 2 more relegation slots for Everton, Man U and Chelsea to fill. Who to pick from that?

Before anyone has a pop I know it’s unrealistic that those clubs would be in danger of going down.

Immensely proud of the team, everyone did their part.

it would be silly to pick at certain things, or indulge in "if only" scenarios, we got 97 points and had one defeat all season. Not sure it's reasonable to ask for more.

But there's no joy, or satisfaction. We came second. Can't celebrate that.

Jurgen says this is the first step in the league.. and I'm inclined to believe him.

This year had been a wonderful learning experience in the league for all Liverpool players to be involved in a title race.

It will stand us in good stead for challenging from the off. We are by far the 2nd best team in the league and I do question the hunger/desire from City next year. They were so determined to finally "defend the title" and now they've done that and effectively won the domestic treble, you've got to think that their remaining target will be the CL next year.

For us, if we win the CL, that will be a massive boost to the club. It help us attract players (I mean, it has already). But it will be a rubber stamp on Klopp's revolution. And next season the player's will be very hungry in the league, having learnt about the rigours of a title race. This is the first time anyone in our squad (save Millie/Hendo/Studge) have been in such an EPL title race:

We've learnt about the pressures of leading in a title race.
We've learnt about the pressures and frustrations of chasing in a title race.
We've learnt about having to cope with the pressure of needing o win every week.
We've learnt about how draws can kill you.
We've learnt about how to score late goals under pressure.
We've learnt about how to kill games and defend a lead.
We've learnt about how to deal with the media circus of Liverpool in a title race.
We've learnt about how to juggle league and CL games.
We've especially learnt about how it's important to punish your rival when they drop points (Lei v Home).
We've especially learnt about how important it is to win against your rival in one of the 2 games.

This season, we were a bit unfortunate that our home game against City was at the end of a 3 week gruelling run of games against PSG-Saints-Chelsea-Chelsea-Napoli-then City, when our legs were spent.

Next season, with improved CL co-efficient rankings, our CL group will hopefully be easier, our cup runs (Chelsea- Lge Cup, Wolves - FA cup) will be easier too and thus our early season form will be better.

It's vital the team take the "next step" as Jurgen says, and we bring in the right characters to supplement the main cast. If we are being honest, we still lack a lot of quality from the bench (Origi, god bless him, should NOT be Bobby's back up; Studge basically did one good thing all season). We lack:

Cover at LB. This is obvious.
Cover at RB. Our FBs are so imperative to our build up play, I don't like having Joe Gomez at RB. He's not creative enough. We need another.
A hard working goal-scoring CM. (I'd love Bruno Fernandes)
A hard working top class CF. Someone capable of playing the false 9, proper 9, but also out wide too. A young Suarez type, if that's possible. Not sure who.

I don't think the squad needs any more surgery than that. Anything else (De Ligt, Brandt, a cover GK) would simply be a bonus.

I have faith in Edwards and Klopp to do what's necessary. They seem to be plugging the gaps each season and learning from the mistakes of the previous.

Falling short gloriously is still falling short. We need to win a trophy. This team and manager have earned it. I hope they get the CL more for themselves than me as a fan..

Bill himself would say second is nothing

This is totally where I am as well. The team is going places but it's horrible to once again get so close and not win it. The Champions League looming on the horizon is indeed a nice bonus. I am very interested to see who we sign this summer and I hope it's to add to our current team and not replace any star players.

I had come to terms properly with not winning the league when Kompany's goal went in. I was most of the way there with the Aguero goal versus Burnley. They just kept finding a way. I'm now ready to go into the CL Final chasing down #6. If we were offered this at the start of the season we would all have taken it.

I offered my friend all my bottles of whiskey if we won the league ... I really was looking forward to getting rid of them ... oh well.
you can still look forward to getting rid of them, ...celebrate when we bring home no 6.:cigar:
