“We have a problem” – Doni speaks about LFC absence

By This Is Anfield on January 25, 2013
Alexander Doni says he “cannot speak the truth” about his situation at Liverpool. The Brazilian goalkeeper has not been seen at the club since the end of last season.

Doni – Absent since last season
When Doni, 33, didn’t feature in pre-season, no details were provided by Liverpool FC. Some media reported that he was back home in Brazil for ‘personal reasons’.
It wasn’t until late October that Brendan Rodgers discussed the subject, saying that the keeper was due on Merseyside next month. The Liverpool Echo reported that Doni “had been on extended leave in his homeland due to personal problems.”
Now, Doni has finally broke his silence, after being absent for 8 months. Quotes carried by Sambafoot
“They [the media] talk a lot. First, I was unhappy in the reserves, then it was an ankle injury, and I have to say every hour they invent a new story.
“I cannot speak the truth about what’s happening with me and Liverpool. We have a problem. I’m resolving the issue.”
“I’m expecting a call from my solicitor. I’ve returned to Miami now, where I was sorting out other business. I cannot say more than that.”
Doni’s contract expires in the summer. It is not clear whether he has been receiving a salary during his absence from the club.

Promised first choice goalkeeper because Reina was going to be sold, and then Reina stayed and he was stuck on the bench so he took the huff.

That's my guess

Has to be something more serious than that I think. Dogging, money laundering. Money laundering whilst dogging?

Doubtful.
Reina at the time was valued at, what, 20m? There's no way we'd have chosen a reserve keeper from the Italian league as our Reina replacement.
I'd go with Ross's theory.

ohh the anticipation ! it's right up there with the terrible things that happened to Torres and Mascherano that they can't talk about but one day will come out .

So has this play made it to the official footballers excuse handbook (liverpool edition) then?

#44 Make out a JFK level conspiracy has occurred behind the scenes to save face, play it out long enough that nobody gives a fuck anymore.

He spends a lot of time either in south America or Miami? Must be drug smuggler.

Probably no serious issue at all. He just got moody that he was no longer second choice and is building it up into some huge secret issue as an attempt to save face.

Talk of solicitors etc are possibly because we are not paying him anymore, or that he is claiming a certain number if games was written into his contract, or something.
