The Football Association has refused to answer a series of questions put to it by Sky News over the British record transfer deal which took Andy Carroll from Newcastle United to Liverpool.

Although no wrongdoing has been established in the £35m move, the FA has failed to deal with issues of potential conflict of interest - despite calls for more transparency in such dealings.
The issues raised may well anger supporters of Newcastle United in particular, forced to witness the departure of a home-grown talent, but also football fans in general concerned about how money is spent in the game.
Carroll was between agents when the deadline day switch went through, but it is understood his contracted representative on January 31 was northeast-based Peter Harrison.
Although Carroll had chosen to leave Harrison for the agent Mark Curtis, the change of representation is now the subject of arbitration.
I am afraid we will not be in a position to confirm any details or information related to the transfer of Andy Carroll.
You are best advised to put these questions directly to the individuals and/or organisations concerned in accordance with our normal procedures.

Though it is thought Mr Curtis was present with Carroll when he went by helicopter to Liverpool on deadline day, it was not his name that later appeared on the transfer paperwork.
Sky has been shown a section of that contract which details Kent-based David Bromley as the agent in the deal.
Mr Bromley is a Fifa-accredited agent, however it is his link to Mr Curtis through a company called Direct Sports Management that presents a potential conflict of interest.
It is possible Mr Bromley was acting for Liverpool on the deal, rather than Carroll.
But that also raises questions about why Liverpool would require an agent connected to Mr Curtis to represent them, when it has a high-profile director of football strategy in Damien Comolli.
An FA spokesman has commented: "I am afraid we will not be in a position to confirm any details or information related to the transfer of Andy Carroll.

"You are best advised to put these questions directly to the individuals and/or organisations concerned in accordance with our normal procedures.
"Sorry I can’t help any further."
Below are the so far unanswered questions posed by Sky News to the Football Association about the deal. These questions have now been sent to Liverpool Football Club.
1. Who was the registered agent for Andy Carroll on transfer deadline day, Monday January 31, 2011?
2. Can you confirm that the agent name on the official transfer paperwork was David Bromley (a Fifa registered agent)?
3. We understand that Mr Bromley was acting for Liverpool Football Club. Is that your understanding?
4. How often has Mr Bromley acted for Liverpool before the Andy Carroll deal?
5. Why would Liverpool require an agent to act on behalf of the club?
6. Are you aware of any connection between Mr Bromley and Mark Curtis, who is to be Andy Carroll's agent after arbitration?
7. Did you know that David Bromley is the company secretary of Direct Sports Management Ltd, of which Mark Curtis is also a director?
8. Was Mark Curtis present when the Andy Carroll deal at Liverpool was signed?
9. Was an agent's fee paid by Liverpool to Mr Bromley?
10. How much was that fee? And what was it for?
11. To whom was the fee paid? Was it paid to Direct Sports Management Limited?
12. Did the FA, at any stage, warn Mark Curtis that he was not in a position on transfer deadline day to represent Andy Carroll?
13. Who did represent Andy Carroll on transfer deadline day? Did he - as I understand his representation contract allows - represent himself?

Yawn... It's not like we tapped him up unlike the Chavs with Torres, why didn't Sly News bring that up with the FA?

Nah. It's Carroll didn't wanna use the agent he had. He wanted to use Nolans agent. But cant cos of the rules...ha! So Liverpool 'used' and agent and paid him. Just turns out the this agent we used to buy a player is Nolan's agents bezzie.
