Liverpool's Kuyt wants immediate return to Feyenoord, says Kalou

The 26-year-old has revealed that the Dutchman is goping to move back to his former Eredivisie side, with the Ivorian also open to a similar move in the future

Liverpool forward Dirk Kuy tis looking to return to Feyenoord as soon as possible, according to Chelsea midfielder Salomon Kalou.
Both players’ contracts are due for renewal at the end of the season, and were expected to be allowed to leave their current clubs without the offer of new deals, with the pair appearing to be open to a move back to their former side.
However, since Roberto Di Matteo’s appointment as interim Chelsea boss in March, Kalou has featured in every single game after limited exposure under previous boss Andre Villas-Boas.
And Kuyt has featured 40 times for Liverpool, in all competitions, this season and the recent dismissal of sporting director Damien Comolli has raised rumours that the Dutchman could stay beyond the end of the current campaign after all.
Speaking to Dutch TV show Nieuwsuur, Kalou said: "For me Feyenoord is number 1.
“Dirk said to me that I also must come, that we both have to return to Feyenoord. but I want to stay another few years here. After that Feyenoord is an option.
“Dirk told me he wants to return now."
Kalou has recently been linked with a move to the likes of Tottenham, with Hamburg reportedly interested in Kuyt.

He's slipped this year - but he deserves a proper send off. Despite his flaws, he always gave 100% for the club and was instrumental in most of our big games over the past few years. I would still rather keep him as a squad option - he's the kind of veteran you NEED in your team, but if he wants to move on, we should honor that.

JJ knows some Dutch, has a partly Dutch godson and can tell you that that's not right. Deadly's surname is pronounced somewhere between the two (I could explain how to do it, but don't want to get too anoraky). "Kite" is as close as "kout".

so they both work?

I will actually. We do need to improve the squad, but every successful squad has its "squad players" and Deadly's ideal for such a role. Besides he's the right kind of person as well as the right kind of player - professional, committed and easy to get on with. I have a feeling he may prove harder to replace than we imagine.

Yes. He behaves like the club captain, has a great attitude and still has the ability and mentality to make his mark on the biggest games. I'd make him captain next year for a Europa League squad composed mainly of young players and also use him fairly often in the league. He's still a valuable player to have around.

I don't think kuyt is prepared to be a bit part player.

I disagree . Neil is far closer with his version . I don't have any Dutch grandchildren but I have been living over here since 99 .
No way Feyenoord could afford Mr Kuijt by the way . He would need to take a massive wage cut . Dutch footy is skint at the moment .

Cloggy - can you give us some inside info into the next batch of dutch talent? Is Eriksen as good as we think he is?

I have to respect that but, as well as being a languages grad, I've checked this with Dutch people myself. They tell me - and I heard Deadly say it himself once when he was interviewed - that the sound is like a German "u" with an umlaut. Basically for those who don't know the lingo, you purse your lips as if you're going to say "oo", then say "Kite" through them. It comes out halfway between the two. The sound is pretty much unknown in English, which is why English people have trouble picking it up.

Do they actually spell it "Kuijt" by the way?

I guess a lot of it comes down to my belief that i think we'll be making a signing or two in the forward areas mate. With Kuyt moving down the pecking order this season, if we do make a couple of signings in these positions then his game time will be reduced again. Considering his age and wage, i'd be happy for him to finish his career back in Holland.

Yeah it is an odd sound and my pronunciation of it is shite but I would still say closer to Kowt than Kite . Dirk is hard in itself as the r has a rolling sound . The ij in Kuijt is like a Dutch extra letter of the alphabet . It is an extra letter however that can be totally replaced by the existing letter y . Dirk seems to use both himself .

LeTallecWiz - I don't watch enough Dutch football to be able to say really .
