Determination of Harvey Elliott

For me it would depend entirely on how he shaped up in training. If on the basis of that I would have started him before, I'd start him again now.

Nice Instagram pics. Will take a dekko at the site when it's up and running. 🙂
Oh it's up and running .. only the shop isn't functional yet but 90% is working just fine 😉 I meant the blog on the CNY won't be up until the end of the week. Lots of other blog posts are up and all of the galleries are working just fine 🙂

Very nice indeed. For a variety of reasons I send a fair number of postcards so if you're planning to offer them I'll defo be interested.

Not something I usually offer but I see a lot of people are offering them now. I was talking to a guy who runs a gallery in the Lake District and his predecessor used to sell them although he doesn't but is also now having a change of heart as so many people request them. I'll PM you !

There's some typical Shanghai colour overload on my Instagram if you want to take a peek & follow ( instagram.com/thedragonsfather/ ) and on my new website later this week thedragonsfather.com ) with a full blog post (image heavy as always) 😉

Mt Huangshan was one of my most enjoyable experiences although a very grueling one. Some of the most spectacular views I’ve ever seen.

They absolutely are! It's an incredible place. Many of the Chinese poets and painters of yore gained their inspiration from the cloud inversions that occur very regularly (ca. 250 days per year). Not the only place in China but the most famous I'd wager.
A friend and I are going back there this month for a few days, I need more shots for my upcoming coffee table book and it will be his first trip there. Personally I love it best when there's snow on the Huangshan pine trees (endemic species) and a cloud inversion, called the 'Sea of Clouds' there. It'll be cold (down to -20C) but perfect for photography.

Not only the Chinese poets. James Cameron too appaz.

Snow would be gorgeous but also probably terrifying if you have fear of heights like me. Not sure if they’ve put up proper railings now but when I went up, I was literally holding on for dear life, every step of the way.

The hot springs after the descent was also absolute bliss.

Haha !

Well you have me there - I've never been to the Hot Springs (maybe that'll be my reward) !

Proper railings? I think those that are there have been there since the last Ice Age (no doubt they carry out regular inspections)! I've seen people crawling up on their hands and knees, to avoid holding on to them, crying every step of the way. Why do that to yourself? Nuts. Face.

Actually Cameron got his idea for the Hallelujah Mountains from those at Zhangjiajie (damn - another place I need to return to, there are just way too many gorgeous scenic locations in this country). Not sure if Huangshan inspired any other aspect of the film - but it could well have done if he'd ever visited.

There is now a "safe path" round the peaks for the tourist crowd as well as the usual "high difficulty" peaks which close during the winter. (going to assume you gents took the hard route)

That said, I am amazed at the number of Chinese ladies in high heeled boots and tight skirts that would risk life and limb pushing at the edge of the world for a dozen selfies.

Haha yes ! Gotta love em. Hilarious.

Tip : Huangshan isn't actually one peak but a series of peaks. Take the cable car to the top from the rear of the peaks & not the usual cable cars or the hike up, the hotels are then just a 30-60 mins walk away. But a couple of hours hiking from the 'highest peak'. You do need crampons in Winter though as it's very icy up there.

Or take the sedan chair and potter service on the shoulders of some of China’s strongest mad men !

And oh, I did have cramps on alright. They got so bad I almost died midway. Literally couldn’t move a single muscle. Like I said, one of the most grueling thing I’ve ever done but most worthwhile with those breathtaking views later.

Looking forward to this. Watching Elliott mature both as a person and a player during his time here he has been great, and let's not forget he was keeping both Thiago and Henderson on the bench at the start of the year.

Whilst (hopefully) not the same thing I remember when Stephen Warnock was coming through the system. He looked like the real deal and then broke a leg, came back and broke it agin and then broke the other one! He did make it with us for a while and had a decent EPL career but I always wondered 'what if'

Why turn a +ve into a - ve? Jones is a squad player and has turned in some good performances. Why shit on him because Elliott did good in a game?
Feels like there's currently space for only one of them. Jones character and consistency has been lacking.
