I think he (Kyrgiakos) signed a two year contract with us. Why don't we just keep him for one more season then release him at the end of it? He provides good backup.

Because we are totally skint and need as much money as we can possibly get.

Dunno about that Brendan, we just spent 2m on Wilson. Also, I'm sure there are other players that we can sell first? Babel, Riera, Darby, Lucas, Plessis, El Star, Nemeth, Itandje, Brouwer, N'gog can leave first.

Most of whom are shit granted but that would leave us with next to no wide midfielders and 5 centre backs.

My point is, if we're really skint and need to sell *some* players to get as much money as we can get, we'll do well to offer the dross above to other clubs first before Kyrgiakos.

You can't always sell the players you want rid of in precisely the order you'd like to. It stands to reason that the lower down the order you go, the less likely there are going to be takers for them. The fact is, the Greek falls neatly into the category of 'dispensable' and will therefore leave for the right price, regardless of whether there are worse players than him still here.
If we can make our money back him, and provide a little more money for rebuilding the squad, I don't think you'll find too many people arguing.
