I do think it is fair to say BR has learned a lot in the past season about giving us defensive solidity. This time last year we looked very suspect. We even looked very strong against set-piece delivery yesterday which was a welcome development.
Graham was talked up to become the new Liverpool manager when Kenny went. Wonder how that would've worked out instead of Souness. Probably wouldn't have seen God and McManaman come through as they did.
Anyway, no, I think Brendan is building a nicely balanced team. He knew that the defence let us down last year whilst the attack did pretty much a good job. There were quite a few instances where a lack of concentration cost us, so he's brought in some quality defenders and great keeper. Can't fault him.
The team is very defensive minded and as a result I've drawn parallels to teams of old! What was the old Arsenal chant Graham's tenure? I believe it was "One-Nil to the Arsenal".

Yes, the four and five nils of last season lend themselves spookily close to the exciting break neck play George Graham was renowned for. If I was to effectively summarise, I'd say the opening post was aimless, unsupported by a meaningful subset of data and amazingly stupid.
