Darwin Nunez

If he's got a decent first touch, he'll be a Diego Costa/Nando Torres type (Liverpool version).

If he's not got a decent first touch, he'll be a Lukaku/Torres type (Chelsea version).

Either way, YouTube videos don't excite me, and maybe I'm unfair on him cos I'm comparing him to a 2-footed, pacey, hard-working, skilful, goalscoring legend in Sadio.

I also don't know how a wnumber 9 is going to play well with Salah or Diogo.

But I suppose, in Klopp I trust.
Torres had a dreadful first touch when he came over.

I'm with @peterhague with this transfer actually. I'm only basing it on what I saw of him when he played against us. He was fucking ace. I remember thinking how good he was and how well suited to Klopps 'way' he would be. Time will tell but I'm stupidly happy about this. My Manc buddy was lording it the other day when they were linked with him. The bellend has wound his neck right in since then though..... Of course I'll not be displaying my happiness through the medium of dance until I see him in the shirt.

*Limbers up*

Right..
So we're getting a mix of Zlatan, Mane, Torres, Benteke oh Andy Carroll.

It's interesting how other teams will be changing the way they play especially City as they'll be playing differently with Haaland.
I think in a similar fashion we'll have a big tall clinical finisher up top whose different from the current crop of strikers.

Hoping Nunez and Dias both hit the ground running.. Dias in the sense that he'll have a full pre season

Ooooh Romano vs Joyce stand off.

Romano - all done.. here we go

Joyce - we remain £8m apart and add ons aren't agreed. Benfica want it all appearance related. We want it success related.

Someone's reputation is about to come crashing down.

Yeah, why would we give up this lad. He’s fucking ace.

can’t wait for this..
so much potential… along with the others in our squad..
Klopp stayed on as he new he was going to have chance to create something great ..

Edit; not much longer and we should get the announcement of Nunez we feel we have waited fucken ages for from the club …

He’s bang average

Let’s walk through all the factors that have to fall into place for your statement to be true.

Actually, I don’t have the strength. We can simply start with an entire team of professional football people with a zillion data points plus really big brains, plus Klopp and his whole coaching staff, plus club execs.

He may not fit us perfectly or reproduce his current form. But bang average? That’s just wrong.

Ha! Ladies and Gentlemen - Let me introduce to you @mom - It seems we have a learned and scholarly soul frequenting these boards. I don't know about anyone else but I'lll listen to him/her given his/her's profound and clearly educated and articulate opinion....

I hope the contract has a clause in it that says "should you get an offer from any of Real Madrid, and/or Barca in the last year of your contract" - and you are thinking of leaving LFC, then you have to pay back the transfer fee.

Are you comparing him to peak left wing Mane? Or number 9 central Mane?

Peak Mane then fair enough. Number 9 Mane not so much

Both Mane's are still world class.

Can Nunez assist Salah like Mane did against United? Does he have the technical ability to score with his left foot like Mane did in the same game? Is he as clinical as Mane was against City (all 3 games)? Or is he a big game player who scores in big moments like Mane has?

He's 22 and has time on his side with one of the best coaches in the world, but he's still not the level of Mane is right now. So we're going to be weaker next season, unless Diaz steps up his output big time (and not just the flashy-oh-i-look-so-dangerous stuff).

Diaz getting 20 at least goals/assist is crucial for us next year.

No, those are actually misleading - they managed to find a few nice passes from across the season for the compilation, but in reality he’s proper shite at passing and link-up play, nothing like Bobby. This is why I think Klopp will use him like Mane - help progress the ball by running and lay it off to a teammate who’s better at passing. Or isolate him on a flank 1 on 1 against a defender - in that situation he’s really dangerous and hard to stop.
You need to recheck the stats mate. He isn't Thiago but his passing/dribbling stats are actually better than Haaland's, with a lot more involvement as Haaland doesn't touch the ball much in comparison, and not far off players such as Lewandowski. And that in a poorish Benfica team - we can expect them to improve a little here. Also of course bearing in mind that strikers have lower completion stats just by the nature of where they are positioned for most of the game.

The stats are in here. This is a nice analysis which I think has been posted before but it's worth scrolling through again.

Make of this what you will.

This is really superb analysis and confirms what I was saying - all the Cavani-Carroll comparisons are quite misleading; his strengths - if we compare him with current LFC forwards - are closest to Mane, with his ball-carrying ability literally almost off the chart, clever runs in behind and emphatic finishing. Lukaku comparison is interesting - obviously Chelsea don’t play to his strengths, but this is another powerful striker who shouldn’t be used as a target man or a link man - I’m sure Klopp won’t make that mistake with Nunez.
