Danny Ings WILL join Liverpool at the end of the season after the Reds won the race for his signature.

Striker Ings is set to be out of contract at Burnley and has opted to move to Anfield on a Bosman.

Real Sociedad boss David Moyes had wanted to take Ings to Spain, while Manchester United and neighbours City, Germany's Schalke and Dutch side Ajax have also looked at him, but the striker has chosen Liverpool - as we told you in February.

The relegated Clarets will be due compensation of £3million to £5million for Ings, because he is 22.

According to The Mirror.

Great signing. Big improvement on Lambert, Bornini and Balotelli, small fee, relatively small wages (I guess). However. like all signings it will need to be viewed in context of the whole transfer window but if we go on to get another striker as you would expect its a no brainer for me.

Haven't see much of him but I've liked what I've seen. He is essentially a no risk replacement for borini, which is fine by me.

Signings like these are not going to help us challenge for top 4. Just keep us right where we are. Average signing. Replacing like for like.

Smart signings like this could be exactly what it takes to challenge for the top 4 or above. Great player signed for a few million, frees up money to be spent elsewhere. Out of curiosity how much do you think he would be worth if he had a couple of years on his contract? 8/10 million?

The last time I had a feeling like this about a signing a certain Coutinho was brought that most were very meh over.

I think he will be ace.

Yeah but we say that every year and it never happens. He's an OK player, but we need a lot better if we want to challenge for top 4. Right now we need experienced quality, not average quantity. We had enough of that we our signings last summer.

What experienced quality do you have in mind?

I find it hard to see the downside of a 22 year old who scored in a shite team for buttons

Everyone thought he looked talented from what I remember but no one had hardly seen him play. This is different. We all know what we're gonna get from Ings, the same way we all knew what we were getting from lambert. Ings is no hidden secret.

Dare I say, if we had Ings instead of Borini, we might have a few more points, and a few more points is all we need to be in top 4 contention.

We will get more out of him that what our current 4 strikers have done over the last season.

I dont get the negative attitude towards him.

22, scored 10 goals for a shite team and will cost us roughly 3-5 mill depending on the Tribunal fee.
Thats a very good transfer and very low risk.

He works very hard, pressing, decent ability on the ball, good movement and can finish. In other words he's a better fit than 3 of the strikers we have today.
Will only improve and if it doesnt work out we can get twice what we paid if not more.

Think he'll prove to be a good signing.

I just hope we don't go and spend another £20m plus on a defender.

I'd like to see us sign Ings. He'll pretty much be a straight swap for one of those going out the door, so is he not better than Borini, Aspaz, Lambert, Balotelli? He's going to cost us pennies if we do get him, he's English, he knows where the net is, and he's proved he can score goals in this league.
Don't get me wrong, I'd still like to see Suarez's replacement come in in the summer, but having Ings as his partner/backup would be great.

I think he could be ace and at £3m-£5m it would be daft not to find out. Worst case scenario IMO he'll prove a better squad player than balotelli, Borini or Lambert.....best case scenario he'll be our new John Aldridge.

he's no Depay in terms of excitement but it's a decent start to the transfer dealings imo

Better replacment for Lambert I suppose..

Get shut of Borini.. Lambert and Balotelli.. bring a top striker in..

We should be OK.. Sturridge, origi, ings, worldy striker

I would of preferred Austin to Ings.. but for the fee you can't really complain...

I think if we ship out Balotelli and Borini we could get someone of quality in.

I wouldn't want to put the goalscoring burden early in the season on Ings and Origi with Sturridge starting on the sidelines next season.

Yep.. we have to get the 'top class' talent right up front.. Its crucial if we want to kick on next season..

Lack of Goals have been our problem.. we have to address that in Summer
