Cup Semi vs Villa

Gerrard wasn't match fit and didn't seem to have a clearly defined role to play. I felt sorry for him out there amidst that mess.
I didn't like Rodgers saying pre match that Gerrard was fit, as he played behind closed door games

You're basically making excuses in advance

Yes. And yesterday he said 'I wish I'd been around when Gerrard was 24 because I would have built a team around him, like I did Suarez'. Yes, such a pity previous managers didn't build the team around Gerrard.

I know this mate, I'm not saying this season hasn't been a clusterfuck - it has. But people have short memories, like on the post-game stuff before, the pundits banging on about "Liverpool not doing it in big games", well if you discount games like City this season and last, trouncing Spurs, Everton and Arsenal like no Liverpool side in recent memory has.

Yeah I agree with that.

We've been playing so very poorly these last 6 weeks or so having seemingly dragged ourselves out of the shit, I don't think it's fair to call them bottlers at all there were a number of occasions under Rodgers where the team has been under pressure before a match and come out all guns blazing and destroyed teams.

Fact stands however this has been an almighty fuck up of a season.

No strikers for 80% of it didn't help but apportioning blame isn't going to help, Brendan will get another season whatever happens.

We need to be looking for a consistent goal scorer right fucking now. Like RIGHT now and offering them whatever cash incentive they so desire. A decent midfielder with pace wouldn't hurt either. Basically this team lacks a cutting edge and dare I say it a bit of superstar quality and it shouldn't considering what has been spent.

Nobody is expecting us to catch City in 4th so let's see how we play now the pressure is off, it would be nice for us to actually put in a nice performance or two before the end, it's been a while.

This is the bottom line of it really. FSG need to nut up and realize that in order to buy goals you are going to have to spend.

A guy like Jackson Martinez is probably a player we would have a shot at but will have to spend big to get him and the owners have to come to grips with that.

Right.... I'm blaming that ridiculous pink ball.

We always play shite when it's used.

I'm putting it down to fear that our players become knows as "good at playing with pink balls".

I just hope they're not blue next year.

That was an awful performance, it had everything bad about us.

We played the game at an exhibition pace, there was no movement, no guile, no desire - it was insipid - we played the style of game that suits Joe fucking Allen (sideways - sideways - backwards - sideways - backwards - hoof). The blame has to be placed at Rodgers, he can't cut it. 3 years and his buys have been pathetic, 1 good buy Coutinho and one potential Can everyone else has been a disaster.

He can't be trusted with money.

Last season yes we did get 2nd - still achieved nothing and lets be honest we got second because of Suarez not because of Rodgers.

Sorry to keep banging on about it; but the failure of the players to raise their game in a FA CUP SEMI FINAL REALLY FUCKS ME OFF. Both them and Rodgers are fucking culpable for this.

I was walking the dog yesterday evening and this old dude was sat by the beach just chilling, and he asked if I knew the Liverpool score. I told him and he was well pissed off, so I told him that we'd played crap... he said, it's not that, I wanted Arsenal to batter them on Gerrard's birthday.

At least romance isn't dead.

Utter shit. Made worse by the fucking bellend who kept shouting things like 'Welcome to the spiritual home of football for this FA cup semi final between Tim Sherwood's lions and the reds of Liverpool' on the tannoy with the drum annd base background.
Dreadful place, full of utter cunts. The 'Response team' who I saw taking away our giant flag, the toilets designed by someone who thinks he's organising some bogs in a gastropub for 20 guests.
Eurgh.

Celebrating that Coutinho goal was one of my greatest experiences as a Liverpool fan.

Watching the players not give a shit for the next 70 minutes, casually jogging around the pitch, having 2 or 3 offside whenever we won the ball in midfield, aimlessly hoofing it forwards - that was one of my worst experiences as a Liverpool fan. We had about 5 English players on the pitch - they know the importance of the FA Cup, why the hell couldn't they get up for it? Coutinho was the only one who ever looked to show urgency.

We looked our most solid once Can came into the middle but by then it was too late as half the team had accepted defeat.

Aside from the 35 times he was caught offside, I was impressed with Mario - it was the first time in my experience that hes actually tried to stick at being the focal point of our attacks and not just drop deep. His laziness, both physically (i.e. just jogging slowly to get back onside) and mentally (just not thinking about where he was on the pitch) was frustrating as always - if your striker is going to spend so long off side they might as well not be on the pitch. That completely ruined what looked like a promising performance from him in the times where he wasnt offside.

David Silva out for the rest of the season.

Mario was offside about five times leading up to that incident. The linesman had been conditioned to raise his flag any time the ball went towards Balotelli.

£5 for a 330ml bottle of Bud too!

Sorry Brizzle. My train was late and I endfed up rushing to the Globe on Baker Street then got two down me and off to the ground.
If I ever bother going to a football match again after that shit I'll let you know.
Semis at Wembley is a joke.

I spent most of the time pre game in a bar called Crystal which was buzzing - some fans had taken over the karaoke system and it was a great atmosphere. Cool experience!

Poor Stevie last night got completely 'shisha'd' by the looks of it. Can't really blame him, but those blue shoes look a bit much to bring down in yer kit bag to London.

Our failure to replace Suarez with a similar world class forward has really fucking ruined us.
Couple that with Daniel Sturridge dying in pre season its been a shit season really.

I dont really know who to blame for it. Honestly I dont. Our players are good but not great. Maybe our manager too.
We certainly need better players.

The money spent on Lambert, Balotelli and Markovic looks to have been good money thrown away at this stage. I hope we get it right this summer I really do. Kind of our last chance.

I feel for Lambert. He managed to work his way up to being an impressive Premier League forward, and got a call up to England, scored goals at the highest level and earned a place at the World Cup. Then joined his boyhood club and effectively ended his career. Bang. Over. Rodgers would have been kinder if he'd just sent the man a signed shirt and a season ticket. I know the player has many critics but why the hell was he bought? I bet anything he wasn't told when he signed he'd be treated as badly as this. What the hell is the point of bringing him on at all in game after game when it's just for about five minutes or even less? If Rodgers didn't want him, why did he talk him up so much? All that does is make his subsequent attitude to the player seem more contrary than ever.

Got to agree. I actually thought he might have got a game yesterday. Villa aren't impressive at the back and he could have made an impact.
