Cult heroes and flops under each manager

Really? Has Keita cost us a final? How many games did we lose or draw because Karius had a brain fart moment? Karius is a £100m mistake

The point is, did anyone have any big expectations of Karius? Was he expected to set the world alight? Be the next big thing? Solve our problems?

To be fair, he was signed to challenge Mignolet, who we all knew wasn’t good enough, and possibly take over the #1 spot, which he did - so there were serious expectations on him despite the low transfer fee. I think what happened in Kyiv taught Klopp and especially FSG that you cannot take shortcuts if you want to compete at the very top, lack of quality will show itself in the worst moment possible.

I think Suarez, Robertson, Milner and even Agger are a level above cult hero.

I can see the reasoning though and I did consider Robbo for the same. But yes, you are right, I'd liken cult heroes to be players who were either not that good, or brought in cheap/late in their careers and had a hand in something significant, even though they were never really here for the long haul. Or players who did something poignant that touched the fans, like Titi.

Can we have a separate discussion on what constitutes a cult hero? It's the logical next chapter after the debate on how to define world class.
@Shadey chose who he chose to create a discussion knowing someone will object to his choices. I took the bait.
For me there's a level between Cult Hero and Club Legend. For me Robbo will be a club legend. In my living memory he is the best left back we've ever had.
