I know this a bit off topic. I just watched the post match Woy interview. Fucking hell! I still can't really remember when he was our manager. Fuck me I was drinking a lot back then! 🥷

Link please.
(or - what was he saying?)

My thoughts (just watched game now):
  • A midfield 3 of Hendo, Milner & Gini is very problematic. Neither is good at carrying the ball forward and I think this was a poor choice from Klopp.
  • Feel bad for Lallana - he just cannot get a break this year.
  • TAA struggled big time in the first 30 minutes or so, but afterward, improved. I think we have to be patient with him and Gomez - they will get better with this experience.
  • Robinson is fucking improving and looking like a fucking class LB. What a signing ...
  • VvD wasn't great today.
  • Mane should't have been book for diving - there was contact. I wonder if that's what saved him when he should have been booked on the handball.
  • Thought the penalty was right - even though he was going for the shot and it would't have been a goal.
  • Salah had a poor game and scores ... love it.
  • We only won this game - I think - because Benteke botched two chances our front 3 would have scored. A good striker with no confidence ...
  • Big win ... whatever happens with Spurs-Chelsea, we're in the driving seat.

Good shout on TAA-- I think there is an overreaction to his initial performance but he wasn't the only mug in that period.
On Benteke, I think we were lucky to recoup almost all our money. I don't still see what the fuss about him was.

Yep, great signing.

A great signing measured by his injury record, on not on stuff like the fact that prior to this season, he'd had a good two years of football with us.

By your reckoning Sturridge and Clyne were shit signings too, but you wouldn't say that would you, because it doesn't fit the type. I wish you'd fuck off from this site, you boring twat.

Why are people taking it personally?
And no Sturridge wasn't a bad signing cause he cost much less than Lallana also hes done like twice as much.
If only you were this defensive about Lucas.

Also, I think you should direct some attention towards Dreamy too...

When Lallana signed, you spent the whole of an England game crucifying his play and it didn't really stop from there on, even when he was playing well you couldn't wait for him to have a bad game, to claim some personal victory. And now he's struggling with injuries you're made up, because you think you've been proven right about his actual quality.

It's like when Carragher was old and in decline and you decided he'd always been shite.

Have a think about how much of a cunt that makes you seem and ask yourself why it irritates people.

Ive hated Carra since he was a fullback.
I didn't like the Lallana signing since day one. It's not my fault that he hasn't proven me wrong.
Why don't you mention Sakho? Everyone was on my case when I said that he was shit.

Talking about Sturridge, read that he’s cost WBA 50 000 £ per minute so far.
Now thats a good loan signing

Is this the right place for some belated RAAAAAAAAAATINGS?!

Great. I'll keep the overview brief: we weren't very good and didn't play well, but it doesn't matter as long as we win.
I'm not sure too many people had an issue with the starting XI, with the only real debate around Matip and what combination of midfield three Klopp would select. But it was a collective nervous and disjointed display, especially in the first half. Their midfielder with the stupid name who scored is a good player, and dominated our timid and toothless midfield, with only Milner making any real impression. Luckily, they missed their chances and we had Salah and Mane.

Unlucky Woy.

Karius (6) one great stop, and a couple of other decent saves, but fortunate that Benteke missed when clear through and was brainless when rushing out to concede the penalty.

TAA (4) got taken to the cleaners by Rashford in his last game, and Palace targeted him as the weak link, with Zaha tormenting him mercilessly in the first half. All over the fucking place defensively

Matip (5) gave TAA no help whatsoever, and was sloppy and indecisive. Mediocre player.

Virgil (6) the hapless ineptitude of TAA and the lackadaisical Matip didn't help Virgil's usual competence and authority. He looked mystified by the clowns to his right, and joined in the show with one of his own howlers, which luckily fell to a horribly out of form Benteke. Apart from that, he was decent enough, but not as his usual level.

Robertson (8) is a far better defender than TAA, but is arguably as effective in attack, and was once again our best player, working like a dervish in defence and creating chances at the other end. Having a brilliant season.

Henderson (5) dreadful in the first half, seemingly incapable of passing accurately, but improved as the game went on, and covered plenty of ground in a defensive capacity.

Milner (6) did his best to orchestrate the team, and reduce the damage Zaha was causing, he also tried to be aggressive and creative with his use of the ball. His joints sometimes seem to be made of wood, though, and he was occasionally left chasing the ball

Wijnaldum (4) another classic away display from the Shithouse Ghost. Did fuck all.

Mane (7) bizarre game, with disallowed goals, dives and handballs. And a vital goal. Could have been sent off for that stupid handball, but thankfully survived that, and then took the game to Palace. He's often quite a ragged sort of player, with inconsistent technique and decision-making, but while the likes of Zaha get plaudits (and he did play well) Mane is just far more effective and scores far more goals than Zaha ever has.

Salah (7) Palace's defence did a decent job restricting his space, but it's not easy keeping the Egyptian goal machine quiet for 90 minutes, many he duly scored the winner with a trademark ice-cool finish from a few yards out.

Firmino (6) no goal threat, and even his usually reliable work rate was lacking early on (those early kick offs!) but he improved in the second half, even if he still never looked like scoring

Decent summary that. I agree with all of it.

TAA has been targetted by multiple teams this season. Positionally hes awful and he doesnt seem to realise hes been turned until its too late. Hes great going forward but its clear that hes not solid enough defensively. Clyne cant come back soon enough.

It's the whole right side of the defence. Whether he's with Matip or Lovren, there's a massive imbalance between that side and the Robertson / VVD one. Of course it's going to be targeted.

Karius - I think we'd be moaning about him if he stayed on his line and got beaten, thought he made the right choice, and if the challenge was outside the box he might have won the foul. He played well all game.

TAA. Needs to get into midfield asap as he's been rinsed far too often. But in his defence the guy standing next to him, whether it's Matip or Lovren, is meant to be an experienced top class player, not a total lump of shit

Matip - A total lump of shit.

VVD - too clumsy and lazy. I can only hope he was saving himself for Citeh

Robertson - Boss

Henderson - fucking shite

Milner - Quite good

Gini - First time I noticed he was on the pitch was when he was walking off it. Sell this useless piece of shit

Mane - Very lucky to stay on the pitch, but weirdly our most effective player. I don't think he's a cheat.

Salah - Looked like he was in one of them Nic Cage films that he's just doing to pay his tax debt. Again, I think the Citeh game was on his mind

Frim - Ditto

Overall - great win. Probably undeserved but fuck Palace, fuck Hodgson, fuck Benteke and fuck all those Manc loanees.

It’s a tough one for such a young lad who hadn’t even started off as a defender. Bedding him into RB with a Carra to his left and a Kuyt ahead of him would make such a huge difference.
Right now he’s got a shite defender next to him and Salah ahead of him (who has to mostly be positioned a little further ahead for counter attacks) and the midfielders don’t help him out anywhere near as much as I think they should. Robertson, as good as he is, is a bit lucky having VVD near him and Mane who helps far more in a deeper position than Salah when we’re defending.

That's just another way of saying TAA isn't quite good enough at right back at this moment in time.

If we had a fully match fit Clyne, the right side of our defense would be so much better as he was our most reliable defender before VVD and Robertson arrived. Plus Matip never looked as bad as he is does now when playing alongside him

I like both TAA and Gomez and it's been good that's they've mostly help fill a gap in Clyne's absence without us having to spend, but they both have flaws that they need to iron out. Well, TAA looks like a midfielder anyways...

Another ironic detail for Mane to mull over - Zaha's foot was actually higher than Mane's own had been v City when Zaha challenged Karius. Had he caught Karius with it - and he was only inches away from doing so - one presumes it wouldn't have been a pen and Zaha would've been sent off...unless 'dangerous play' only counts sometimes and not others. Karius didn't duck into the foot, like City's keeper did, but the foul is supposed to be about intent, not contact, and if one was dangerous, the other should be.
