In the very short term the team needs a leader. Gerrard is absolutely awful as a leader - great off the pitch, no doubt, but he acts like a fan watching the game rather than a player in it. Rodgers also has to use his option of telling players they're playing for their future - you can only do that once, but now's the time. And he has to shut up and show between now and December he can really manage. Or else.

I get the feeling those on the pitch don't agree with the tactics being employed.

We need some sort of intervention from Rodgers pronto. This is beyond shite. The likes of Arsenal and United are complaining about their worst starts in decades and are both still several points ahead of us. I fear we will lose players this summer to tempting offers if things don't improve.

All Palace do is get players in the box and move the ball to them quickly. It's not fecking rocket science. We faff about from side to side, then backwards, then from side to side again, loiter nervously outside the area, then either lump a ball in near the keeper or try and thread it through a crowd of defenders. The deluded self-image is of a thinking team playing cleverly, but it just doesn't have any connection with the facts of the matter. All we do is basically just waste a bit of time between mistakes.
