Not sure how televising the games would work. I can't them being only on Sky/BT because those that don't have access, and would usually go to the pub to watch, will just go to their mates house that has Sky/BT rather than miss out.

Unless it went out on free-to-air as well.
No chance it goes to FTA. They'll double down on selling limited time access to stream it as a one off, like a ppv event, instead.

Not sure about ppv events , they'd be bedlam publicly and there will be clauses In the stupidly expensive contracts between sky and bt that'll no doubt be activated upon the league recommencing

Sky can't afford to have subscribers dip further , they need to make super Sunday every day for a month or two with BT filling in the rest

Let's not forget how silly these TV deals are, neither party can really afford to take the hit on this

Sorry didn't make that clear. I didn't mean ppv to existing subscribers, they'll obviously get it as per their normal subscription, but like now tv do a daily pass, both sky & bt will do similar, but sell it for say a tenner per day if you only want to buy days when your team plays (like now) or £30/40 for the whole two/three weeks, more like a ppv event.

No doubt the tv companies would want to go ppv. I'm questioning whether the Government would let them, given the risk of fuckwits breaking social distancing rules. Government could easily force it onto fta if they wanted to.

The UK makes 3.7bn per annum from PL footy. No way they would do that.

Over 60 non league clubs have sent in complaints about the voided season, will be interesting to see what the outcome will be.

What was the rush for the non leagues to make a decision on voiding so quickly anyway? It’s not like lockdown will be up in 2 weeks. Was there a rational reason given? Or was Karen Brady brought in as special advisor.

One of the clubs had won something like 29 games out of 29 games and were just blowing everyone out of the water, and now their promotion has been voided. Awful.

Two clubs were guaranteed promotion, one being Vauxhall motors. It’s a ridiculous decision that will have long term impacts.

I'm sure Sky / BT would get dibs on 3 of the games per game 'week' with the other 7 being shown free to air via Sky Sports & BT

UEFA have fined the club because a few fans let off flares at the Atletico game. I wonder how much they'll fine themselves for insisting on sending thousands of fans from Spain to Liverpool when most of that country was going into lockdown?

Its very awkward at the moment, as long as we see the numbers rising we arent going to be able to get the government to see the advantage in resuming even behind closed doors.

What do you guys think about some football players still getting paid in full considering most people in the country arent?

Not particularly bothered about that TBH as, though footballers' wages are far too high, they're not actually taking that money from anyone else. What does get my goat is the idea of Prem clubs like Tottenham furloughing their office staff and then putting them forward for Govt.compensation.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more anger at that. It's despicable really.

That makes sense with a single game left of the season.

The Belgian league has become the first major European competition to recommend ending its season with the current standings declared final because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The league says Club Brugge would be awarded the title if the advice is confirmed at a general assembly meeting on 15 April. Brugge would also qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Brugge are 15 points ahead of second-place Gent with one game to go before the season-ending playoffs.

The league management board has agreed it is unclear when team training could resume and says it is “very unlikely” any games with fans attending could be played before 30 June.

The league says even games in empty stadiums would put stress on public health and security services dealing with the pandemic. It agreed the risk of infecting players would also damage the competition’s integrity.

There are still 11 games left though. 1 + 10 in the playoffs.
