Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin says the current football season could be lost if it cannot be restarted by the end of June.

Most leagues in Europe are suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic, with this summer's Euro 2020 tournament postponed for another year.

Ceferin says seasons could be finished behind closed doors.

"If we don't succeed in restarting, the season will probably be lost," the Slovenian said.

He told Italian newspaper La Repubblica: "There is a plan A, B and C.

"The three options are to start again in mid-May, in June or at the end of June.

"There is also the possibility of starting again at the beginning of the next [season], starting the following one later. We will see the best solution for leagues and clubs."

I’ve been saying this for week just because of the shitty 2022 World Cup our seasons and fixtures will be all over the place.

I'd actually take this.

I’ve heard elsewhere they would hold all the games in the Midlands to cut down travelling and deter fans from turning up.

As long as we win the league they can finish it by playing Subbuteo for all that I care.

I mentioned this a week or so ago. While it makes some sense in terms of getting the games played and filmed and policed, it also creates an Olympic-style 'village' that, if any infection was diagnosed, would surely collapse the whole enterprise. And if fans displayed the same kind of stupidity shown by the park and beach brigade in recent weeks, turning up from all directions, then chaos could follow.

Harry Kane: End of June the limit for season, says Tottenham striker

England captain Harry Kane says the Premier League season should be scrapped if it cannot be completed by the end of June.
All elite football in England is suspended until at least 30 April because of the coronavirus pandemic.
"I know the Premier League will do everything it can to finish the season," said Tottenham striker Kane.
"There needs to be a point where enough is enough. Probably the limit for me is the end of June."

Kane echoes the thoughts of Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin, who said on Saturday "the season will probably be lost" it if cannot restart before the end of June.
Most Premier League clubs have nine games remaining in the 2019-20 campaign. Liverpool are 25 points clear of second-placed Manchester City at the top of the table, while Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Norwich City occupy the relegation places.
The European Championship has been postponed until the summer of 2021 to allow domestic competitions more time to be completed.
Speaking to Sky Sports pundit and former Spurs player Jamie Redknapp on Instagram Live, Kane said: "Playing into July or August and pushing next season back, I don't see too much benefit in that.
"Obviously I don't know too much about behind the scenes and financially.
"If the season's not completed by the end of June we need to look at the options and just look forward to next season."
Spurs team-mate Toby Alderweireld told BBC Radio 5 Live on Sunday that the players have to focus on a return date of 30 April - however unlikely.

"In other words I haven't the faintest idea what I'm babbling about."

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan says it would only be “fair” for rivals Liverpool to be awarded the English Premier League trophy if the season cannot be completed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Gundogan told German broadcaster ZDF that Liverpool deserved to be crowned champions given their massive 25-point lead over second-placed City, the current holders, which has left them just two wins away from the title.
“For me, that would be okay, yes,” Gundogan said, on being asked whether Liverpool should be handed their first top-flight title for 30 years should the season not be completed.
“You have to be fair as a sportsperson,” he added, while conceding that it was a difficult decision for football authorities given the impact that the cancellation of the season would have at both ends of the table.
“There are different opinions. For clubs who have had a very good season, it obviously wouldn’t be nice if it was cancelled now,” he said.
“On the other hand, for clubs who aren’t doing as well and are maybe in the relegation places, an abandonment would obviously suit them.”
The Premier League season has been suspended until April 30th, but it is looking increasingly likely that the date may have to be pushed back further.
German international Gundogan also said he would be open to taking a pay-cut should English clubs follow the likes of Juventus and Borussia Dortmund in asking their players to accept reduced wages so non-playing staff can be paid.
“Of course I think it’s okay, that goes without saying, (but) there’s been no discussion in England yet,” he said.
“Perhaps that’s because the English clubs are a bit financially stronger than the clubs in Germany at the moment.
“I don’t know who has the final say in that decision. On the other hand, if a player says, ‘no, I don’t want that, I worked hard for it, I get my salary’, then it can go in the opposite direction.
“For me personally, it would be okay but, to be honest, you have to be tolerant and if there are players who are against that, then that’s also an acceptable situation.”

It seems there are too many vested interests that need the season to be completed for the authorities to just void it. From clubs needing bonus payments to TV channels needing to recoup advertising and subs.

Players will also want their bonuses. Can you imagine our players not taking legal advice if they were entitled to £1 million for winning the league?

I can't imagine anyone thinking it'd be a good look to sue for bonuses in a time like this...

Anyways, the whole thing is fucked and I'm past caring. Meh.

Government consider asking citizens to self-Isolate for up to six months

They are taliking about having people to self-Isolate for six months now...

That would take us to September or beyond. So it if true, to me; looks as if they will cancel the season. The only thing that remains is what will the FA do about the titles, and promotions/relegations in the English divisions

I see it differently.

If the restrictions stop the next season starting, then there's more chance they get this season finished, & use it as an excuse to start a condensed season.

They keep announcing these 'plans' without any apparent curiosity as to how it would work. St George's Park, for example, has about a dozen pitches, I believe, with only about three of them being beyond training pitch standard, and, as far as I know, only one of them practically suitable for TV crews to film any games on them, and if the games are packed together as suggested the pitches would be a wreck after about ten games (imagine if there's just a week of rain - it would be even worse). Add to that the potential unintended consequences of creating densely-populated bases for teams and their staff, and there are loads of unanswered questions. They'd be better off not leaking these ideas to the media unless they're ready to respond to all the queries.

And so much for social isolation, you just have Clubs spearding the Virus between one another, another not well thought out idea

At the moment It looks like starting the season a month or two later, discounting CL, and International breaks due to travel restrictions and Country wide lockdowns which in it self would shorten the season by amonth of to plus without those added games/stoppages I believe that Sky, Bt, Virgin etc and that FA would opted for that

Not sure how televising the games would work. I can't them being only on Sky/BT because those that don't have access, and would usually go to the pub to watch, will just go to their mates house that has Sky/BT rather than miss out.

Unless it went out on free-to-air as well.
