As I said. Things have changed even since the summer and £75 m for a good Center half is the new normal. That puts Coutinho in the £200m bracket.

Yeah it really makes no sense for them to do it, except to prove that they can or they want to get him bedded in before the World Cup. He's cup tied for the CL and they are winning La Liga regardless (for which he'd get a fairly undeserved medal). Unless there was something in last year's contract that nobody is talking about Liverpool hold all the cards here. I really can't see him downing tools. Surely the sensible solution is something similar to what we have with Keita. Agree the price (a massive one at that. I think £130m up front, plus another £30m in easily achievable add-ons is not too bad) and they can pony up a little extra for us agreeing to it early. I agree with you that we the fans aren't getting mugged off by FSG as they seem to be doing the right thing and making all the right noises, but we are getting mugged off by the rat. I'm not sure what else Klopp can do unless he goes down the push him under the bus route and says he's refusing to play and reporting an injury that can't currently be detected with medical science.

I think add-ons are fair enough if you're dealing with a young, breakthrough player, like a Lemar or Mbappe. The player has lots to prove and a big fee is a gamble. Cuntyo is one of the best players in the PL and one of the best players in the Brazilian national team. This isn't a gamble. He is guaranteed class.
