Kieren Westwood available on a free after his contract with Coventry expires. Good keeper to have on the bench in case we cant get Friedel? Anyone seen him play?

I've seen him quite a few times for Coventry and Ireland and am still not convinced. He's a bit of a short-arse and not great on crosses. On his day he's a very good keeper and he oozes confidence but i've seen him make the odd howler too. I think he's good enough for the EPL and as long as it was as back-up to pepe then i wouldn't have a problem with us signing him. Having said that I doubt he's come to us as reserve keeper as he's only mid-20's.

The bargain of the summer is about to take place.............Darren Pratley is about to sign for Bolton on a FREE from Swansea (apparently regardless of whether they get promoted or not at the weekend).

I've banged on about him loads over the last couple of seasons and IMO he'll be great in the EPL. Bolton are getting a gem for free and we should have made a move even if he was just a squad player.

He hasn't got much of a look in this season at Swansea because the manager (rightly so) dropped him to the bench when it became obvious he wanted to leave at the end of the season. Get him in your fantasy football team for next season.

Sevilla
Manu del Moral (Getafe) - undisclosed fee
Piotr Trochowski (Hamburg) - free transfer

Athletic Bilbao
Ander Herrera (Zaragoza) - €7.5m

Espanyol
Juan Angel Albin (Getafe) - undisclosed fee
Adrian Luna (Defensor Sporting Club) - undisclosed fee

Sevilla have made some decent free transfer signings. I thnk they signed Ratikic on a free ( or for a very little amount) this January and I have heard he has done well for them.

I think Bilbao's signing of Ander Herrera might be a real coup too. He was dubbed the new Cesc Fabregas (duh!) and was linked with some big clubs while at Zaragoza. Herrara, Martínez, Muniain and Llorente etc. Looks good.

Yup. They got Martinez for 6 million and Herrerra for 7.5m. A top class midfield for that price range.

Hamburg
Michael Mancienne (Chelsea) - £3m
[/quote]

A centre back who can't head and chickens out of 50/50 challenges.

I think Wolves experimented with him in midfield this season but with no great success. £3m down the tubes if ye ask me.

Newcastle
Yohan Cabaye (Lille) - €5m (£4.3m)

Borussia Dortmund
Ivan Perisic (Club Bruge) - undisclosed

He's been at Wolves on loan for over 2 seasons and I saw him play for them in the Championship. He looked very dodgy even at that level and I was surprised that they loaned him again when they got promoted.

Bayern Munich
Rafinha (Genoa) - €5.3 million
Manuel Neuer (Schalke) - €18 million + bonuses

He's just joined Bayern.

Re: Re: Confirmed transfers 2011/12

Not the hallmark of talent it used to be. Didn't he only move to genoa last year?

Was being facetious 😉.

Is this the same Rafinha that we were interested in previously? I know that there're a couple of them.

Think it's the same one still. The rb

Thought he excelled in Germany. Probably couldnt settle in Italy so went back to Germany?

Just for you Fabio.

Rafinha, 25, spent Tuesday in Munich undergoing medical examinations and has agreed a three-year contract with the Bundesliga club.

"This is a dream for me to be here," Rafinha told Munich newspaper tz after his visit to the club.

The Brazilian defender joined Genoa from Schalke last summer in a deal worth €8 million and made 34 appearances in his first season in Italy.

However, he has now been lured back to the Bundesliga, returning to the country where he impressed during his five years with Schalke.

The acquisition of Rafinha could end Bayern's interest in signing a new left-back as the Brazilian's arrival is likely to see Philipp Lahm move from right-back to the opposite side of defence.

Looks like we can't trick them into signing Konchesky or Insua.

Thought he was a right back? Never mind. Cheers dhsc!

At 1.7m (Lahm) and 1.72m (Rafinha), is that one of the shortest full back pairings around? Remember reading that they ended their interest in Bordeaux left-back Benoit Tremoulinas cos he was 'only' 1.73m

Ruud van Horseface has gone to Malaga. And it seems like they've also signed Toulalan from Lyon today.
Guess their Sheik is spending this summer..

Malaga
Ruud van Nistelrooy (Hamburg) - free transfer

Tottenham
Brad Friedel (Aston Villa) - free transfer

With Toulalan\s contract ending in 2015 and Lyon's chairman being a tough negotiator, will be interesting to see if he makes the move and for how much.
