FSG Have Failed to Deliver

Can someone summarise the article succinctly? Ta very much.

You can save a lot of money if you build up the club in the rigth way. Good CEO, sporting director, DoF and so on. That is something we and many clubs in the PL haven't done. Instead we have splashed a lot of money not caring if a player fits into the team or not.

Welcome back Whirly. Ain't seen you in a while. You still in ATX?

@LeTallecWiz stalked me down on Facebook and pointed out I have nothing better to do with my time.

And yeah, I am still in Central Texas. Wrapping up school in 9 weeks, then I'll likely end up moving somewhere.

Fuck me. That's worse than a math's exam.

This is one of the things I hate about modern football. I miss the days when no-one had a fucking clue about club finances & just, you know, talked about the football.

Yeah, it was simpler then, plus we had the additional benefit of being one of the richest clubs anyway, so what did we care?

Yeah, I remember club finances starting to make a bit of an impact upon me personally when I was bitching about Blackburn (despite Kenny being there) spending so much, & my mate's dad pointed out we'd been doing the same for the last couple of decades as we were usually the best funded side.

Ah, the days when anywhere between 1-4m was probably some kind of record transfer fee. We had fucking LOADS of them: Kenny, Saunders, Beardsley, Babb, Collymore (although by this point it was 8-9m....who was the first 10m player?)

Is the apostrophe in math's incorrect? I thought it was short for mathematics so it needed one, but most people didn't bother. I assume that's incorrect?

What was he thinking. We moved to ATX, last year. Love it. Good luck with your move.

Awesome. Tech industry is booming in Austin, but not a ton of stuff for mechanical engineers, so I'd be surprised if I ended up sticking in Austin.

My family is actually moving from Austin to the Raleigh area in the next couple of months. From one hot market to another for them.

you know I know a ton of Me's in Austin, some in tech some moved to the business side. I'm not involved in engineering, but I worked for ASME in their internet department back in 94! Raleigh sounds good too!

nice- for work or fun?
Fun. Always for fun!

Got a mate who lives in New Braunfels. His girlfriends family have a place on the shores of Lake Dunlap. A monster house which they hire out to people for holidays and the like. But it's huge, got a pool table barbecue deck and for this visit the weather will actually be fantastic.

I'm looking forward to just tubing the river - sitting in a rubber ring, with a six pack attached and floating down a river in The Lying Rag, chatting to people.

Nice, yes people like to chat out here, no doubt about it. I'm up near Lake Travis, and it's a fun part of the world.

Win in Basel though and it would have been a different story. Group stage of CL. More money. More pulling power. New stand being built. More commercial turnover. Happy fans over the summer and all thinking we are heading in the right direction.
Sadly our players shit themselves again and left us staring into the abyss again.

It was a shit performance second half and it cost us the CL but that said next season we have a much better chance of making top four due to missing out on Thursday night fixtures...

This season we had nothing but bad luck, a shit start with a manager who'd lost his way followed by a huge number of injuries and a massive fixture list. Next season we will have fewer games and start with a top manager and a strike force... If FSG can get behind Klopp and he can make some good signings we have a chance...

And for Christ sake get Letomign out of those sticks... Enough is enough...

Can anyone honestly see us challenging for the League under these tight Yanks? We did it once before with a genius of a player at the forefront of everything. He left and we reverted to type...7th, 8th place fodder.

It's only by comparison with the Abramoviches of this world that they've been "tight" though. If we'd bought better with the money they've put in, it would have been enough to get us a lot closer to where we need to be, and in fairness to them they always wanted Klopp at the helm. Now that they've finally got him my answer to your question is yes, though not overnight.

As much as i hate our current situation I think they have been Ok as owners and financial stability is key. I actually blame successive managers and bad transfers for our situation more than them. They have been swift to change managers when things have not gone right which is something i have always wanted. Also with LCFC winning the title this year who can argue with the owners ? we have been afforded more than their transfer budget from one season to the next.

They weren't swift enough to remove Rodgers. a 6-1 demolishing by Stoke, and then proceeded to gift poor Brendan a striker of his choice in Benteke, surely screams anything but timely.

We finished behind Leicester, both manc teams, Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham and Southampton. Who knows what Leicester will do next season, and Southampton could go either way with a new manager, but all the other five teams will get stronger, and all but Arsenal will spend big. I don't see us doing any better than last season if Klopp is limited to yet another bunch of cheap demographically-specific mediocrities as new recruits. This is the summer where if owners don't really compete and go for the top talent, they're gambling with their club's future. If FSG don't pull out all the stops, I don't care about their commercial coups and their prudence, they'll have completed our move from a top club to a bona fide mid-table club. It's becoming a colossal waste of time.

These twats impose signings on managers and then sack the managers for not turning the shite their wonderful committee selected into top players who don't collapse into teary babies whenever they're close to achieving anything. You should support Leeds, they use a similar model of responsibility.

In the past, FSG have stopped us going for top experienced players on the grounds of age and/or price. Now they've started alienating young talent by refusing to pay them a competitive wage. So they're losing us talent at both ends of the spectrum. Feck their Crispy Creme, Nivea and Subway contracts, they're getting worse where it matters most if you regard this as a football club.
