"I'm happy to have joined Stuttgart," Bundesliga.de quotes Abdellaoue as saying. "I was very pleased with the offer and wanted to come here.

Uruguayan right-back Guillermo Varela has completed his move to Manchester United. The 20-year-old has signed a five-year contract.

Varela impressed in a two-week trial at Carrington in May and will now vie with Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez (signed in September 2012 but loaned to Wigan Athletic shortly afterwards) to become the 11th South American to make a first-team appearance for the Reds.

The defender, who will represent Uruguay at the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey later this month, is looking forward to starting life at Old Trafford next season.

“I’m very pleased to be a part of this club, one of the best teams in the world,” he said. “As everyone in the world knows, this is a huge club that has won everything and I really hope that continues."

Varela should settle quickly into the United dressing room given the global make-up of the Reds squad.

“I’m very lucky there are quite a few Spanish-speakers here,” he said. “It will certainly help me settle in.”

Manchester City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Jesus Navas from Sevilla.

The 27-year-old right winger has completed a medical in New York and will meet up with the Blues squad after the Confederations Cup and a short holiday.

Navas has so far won 23 caps for Spain, helping his country to win the 2010 World Cup and the European Championships two years later.

At club level he made 393 appearances for Sevilla scoring 34 goals over the past nine seasons and has won six major trophies.

Jesus met with recently appointed New York City FC Director of Football Claudio Reyna in the Big Apple where Navas was presented with his new colours.

Speaking of his move, Navas said: “Manchester City is an exciting project and this is the right moment for me to take this step. I'm very happy with the opportunity and the decision.

“The Premier League is a competition where the football is very fast and will suit the way I play. I'm really looking forward to it.

“I'm going to a great club in England and I want to continue developing my game there. The Club has put a lot of faith in me and I want to repay them out on the pitch.”

The 27-year-old can boast an extensive medal collection, winning two UEFA Cups, a UEFA Super Cup, two Copa Del Rey titles and the Spanish Super Cup during his time at Sevilla.

He also has World Cup and European Championship medals with Spain.

After joining Sevilla’s youth system at the age of 15, he was handed his senior debut just two years later – coming off the bench against Espanyol in November 2003.

A sprinkling of first team appearances followed that season, alongside a regular place for Seville B in Spain’s third tier.

Boss Joaquin Caparros had seen enough and the youngster earned a promotion to the first team the following season.

Clubs across Europe were finally alerted to his talents during the UEFA Cup campaign of 2006, when the winger played in all 12 of Sevilla’s matches on the road to lifting the trophy.

Navas will also bring his Champions League experience to the Etihad Stadium, enjoying a season in the competition in 2009, when he scored twice and recorded three assists in just eight appearances.

City supporters will have their first opportunity to watch the Club’s newest recruit in action alongside new teammate David Silva when Spain take on Ireland at the Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night.

He is City’s second summer signing after Fernandinho completed his transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk last week.

Paulo Sousa - Maccabi Tel Aviv (Head Coach)

Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club have agreed a 2-year deal with Paulo Sousa (42) to coach the senior side

Sousa enjoyed an illustrious football career as a holding midfielder for Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Parma, Panathinaikos and Espanyol, and was part of the 'Golden generation' of the Portuguese national side for which he made 51 international appearances.

Maccabi's owner, Mitch Goldhar, who met with Sousa two weeks ago together with Jack Angelides, told the club's official website: "I am delighted that the next coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv will be Paulo Sousa. As a coach I believe Paulo embodies the qualities we strive for at Maccabi Tel Aviv - namely discipline, work ethic and respect. I was immediately impressed with Paulo upon our meeting together. I know our fans and the club at large will give him a warm welcome".

Maccabi's Sports Director Jordi Cruyff told the official website: "I am happy Paulo is joining Maccabi and we are certain he can help Maccabi Tel Aviv progress in the path that began 4 years ago and take this club to a different level".

Paulo Sousa told the official website: “I want to begin by thanking the club owner, Mitch Goldhar, his representative Jack Angelides and sports director, Jordi Cruyff, for showing trust in me and for giving me this opportunity to become the head coach of this magnificent football club. Their belief in me, and in my vision for the team, gives me great heart and motivation for the many challenges we will face. Maccabi is a club with a strong tradition, passionate support, and I hope that with everyone working together, we can achieve success".

Sousa began his coaching career for the Portuguese Federation when he was appointed in 2008 as the assistant to National team coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, in addition to coaching the Portuguese young national sides. In November 2008 Sousa was appointed as manager of Queens Park Rangers, and after stabilising the side, he left in April 2009 before being appointed the following summer as manager of the Welsh side Swansea City. Sousa guided the "Swans" to their highest position in 27 years, when they finished 7th in the English second tier Championship. Four days after leaving Swansea, he was signed as Leicester City's manager.

After three years in the British Isles, Sousa was appointed in May 2011 as coach of Hungarian side Videoton FC whom he guided to the Hungarian Supercup and Hungarian League Cup, along with the second spot in the league table in his first season at the club. Notably, he achieved a club record points total in that first year.

In his second season in charge, he again lifted the Hungarian SuperCup, and arguably the club’s best achievement in the last 25 years - Sousa led Videoton to the group stages of the Europa League after beating Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava, Belgian outfit Gent and Trabzonspor of Turkey. Victories over Sporting Lisbon and FC Basel awarded Videoton the third position in Group G. Sousa left the Hungarian club in January of this year.

Son Heung-min- Leverkusen (reportedly €10m)

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have completed the signing of South Korean international Heung-Min Son from Hamburger SV. The 20-year-old, who scored twelve goals and provided one assist in the Bundesliga season just past, has signed a five-year contract at the BayArena, meaning he will be a Werkself player until June 2018.

"In Heung-Min Son we have signed a player who, despite his age, was a key player at Hamburger SV. He has huge potential and is exactly the type of player we are looking to bring into the club for next season when we compete in Europe," commented Leverkusen chairman Wolfgang Holzhauser.

Those sentiments were echoed by sporting director Rudi Völler, who added, "Heung-Min Son is quick, agile, technically strong and has a fantastic shot. He will help us achieve our goals in the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League."

“We have made it clear from the very beginning that Andre Schürrle’s transfer to Chelsea would only be feasible providing we had an adequate replacement,” explained Holzhauser. “By signing Heung-Min Son to a long-term contract we’ve brought in a top-class alternative. Therefore, from our perspective, there’s nothing else standing in the way of Andre Schürrle moving to England.”

Rudi Garcia - AS Roma (Head Coach)
622f4df3c6290664b2043c4af38fe422-092--473x264.jpg

New Roma Coach Rudi Garcia was presented in New York. “I am a faithful person and spent five years at Lille, so I hope to be at Roma for many years too.”

The 49-year-old French tactician agreed a two-season contract today and held a Press conference in NYC with President James Pallotta and director Walter Sabatini.

Summing up the multi-national nature of the club, the conference was held in English, Italian and French.

“I’d first of all like to spare a thought for Lille, the President and the fans. They launched my professional career and allowed me to win my trophies as a Coach. I am very proud and honoured to come to Roma,” said Garcia.

“Without getting into details about my playing philosophy today, I would prefer to approach tactical and technical issues in the later Press conference in Rome. I do this out of respect for the Italian journalists who cannot be here today.

“More than talking about objectives in the table, even if Roma need to rediscover Europe, but my role here now is to talk about objectives on the field. My philosophy of football is attacking, but I don’t forget that to win matches we need a solid defence.

“I am a faithful person and spent five years at Lille, so I hope to be at Roma for many years too.

“We will work for the happiness of our fans. Everyone talked to me about Roma. I know what the club and players represent, but now I need to get to Trigoria so I can get to meet them all in person. That is very important.

“Right now we are working with Sabatini to define what will be the Roma squad for 2013-14.”

Naturally, Garcia was asked about captain Francesco Totti and whether he had already spoken to him.

“I know Totti is a very important player. I will be glad to discuss the situation with Totti, but also all the other players. I am the kind of Coach who needs to love his players in order to share a project where we can all go far.”

Lorenzo Reyes - Real Betis (€1m)

Real Betis have confirmed the signing of Chilean midfielder Lorenzo Reyes on a four-year deal from Huachipato.

The player, who turns 22 today, was reported over the weekend as travelling out to Seville to undergo a medical and complete formalities before becoming the club’s fifth signing of the summer.

Betis have today confirmed the transfer’s completion, which is reported to have been agreed at a €1m fee.

The Chilean international, who plays as a defensive midfielder, was also quoted by the club via a statement today.

“For me to sign with Real Betis is a big jump in both my footballing and personal life,” Reyes reflected.

“I hope to live up to the expectations that they have for me.

“I consider myself a versatile player that is available to all my teammates and willing to help in all areas, with physical work and a good touch with the ball.

“My serious nature? The truth is that it is a trait that is discussed a lot, but more than to talk about it I have come to prove it on the field.”

Jores Okore - Aston Villa (£4 million)

0,,10265~12006528,00.jpg

Jores Okore is ready to take responsibility to be a leader in Paul Lambert's young and emerging Villa team having completed a move from FC Nordsjaelland, last season's runners-up in Denmark's top-flight Superliga.

The 20-year-old defender underwent a medical today and agreed a four-year deal which will run to 2017.

Manager Lambert believes the Danish international has the potential to "make a huge impact" in the Barclays Premier League in coming seasons and Okore is thrilled to be part of Villa's hungry, aspirational team which he is determined to help propel towards "a higher level of performance [and] into a new era".

"We're a young team and we played some really good football over the second half of last season which is something we want to build on now as players, as a team and as a club," Okore said.

"I know there is great potential in the team. I have watched many of our games because the Premier League is very popular back in Denmark.

"I know also that we have a good coach and this is a really good club. This is the right club for me, I feel it straight away.

"We have a lot to show and we have a long way to go. We want to get to an even higher level of performance and show people who we are, that we can be a really good team. The manager is determined to develop us and to help us become better players, proving to people that we can become a top team. We can get some exciting things going here.

"I'm really excited and I'm looking forward to seeing my new teammates and getting together with them to train and get prepared to play some Premier League games.

"I'm happy to be wearing the shirt and I feel like I'm looking really good in it - it feels very comfortable. I'm looking forward to us going out next season, performing as a team and showing our potential.

"We have good players all around. It's going to be tough but I really hope I can go in and show myself and be a big part of the team. I want to bring something new to our game and really help the team into a new era. That's what I hope to do.

"If I was to describe myself, I think I'm a big, strong defender with good pace. Obviously, my priority is to be a really good defensive player but I think I can bring something to our game offensively, too, and maybe start some attacks. But the foremost thing will be to defend well and after that think about whatever else I may be able to contribute.

"We have players who have experience of the Premier League and hopefully I can also bring something from my experience in the Champions League. I'm looking forward to playing with my new team-mates.

"It's going to be exciting to play in a stadium like Villa Park and I'm looking forward to that. The atmosphere, I can tell, is incredible and I know the fans here are very passionate. This is an historic football club and I'm delighted to be a part of it now.

"It was really nice to hear some very nice comments from [former Villa and Danish international defender] Martin Laursen. It means a lot. I hope I can bring what he brought to the team and some of my own style as well. Martin was a great player for this club and I don't want to build it up too much. I have to come in and work hard and that's what I intend to do. I have a really good coach who will help me to perform my role, to be a leader in the squad, to take responsibility and perform well."

Okore has been an integral part of FC Nordsjaelland's unprecedented success over the past three seasons, winning their first Superliga title in 2011-12 and the Danish Cup in 2010-11.

He made his only appearance of the 2009-10 campaign in the Danish Cup and has played 71 times since then, including five appearances in the 2012-13 Champions League.

Okore made his debut for the Danish national team in November 2011.

He has played seven times for his country and was part of the squad that travelled to Ukraine for Euro 2012, though he did not play in the tournament.

He was named to the Danish League XI, a team made up of the best players from the Danish Superliga that plays during the league's winter break, in both 2012 and 2013 and in 2012 was named the under-21 player of the year by the Danish FA.

Lambert believes that Okore's acquisition will bolster his central defensive unit and imbue real competition for places, which he wants to engender throughout the team.

"He's only 20 years of age and that's good but he's also an international player at a really young age and he's played Champions League football as well, which is testament to his potential," Lambert said.

"Jores has played in big games but he's a very humble lad and he will be a really good addition to our team and to our squad. I'm pleased that we've signed a player of his stature, for he is someone who can come in and make a huge impact.

"There's a great opportunity for him here and the competition for places is something that's really important. You want to try to have that throughout the team."

Celtic have confirmed the signing of Amido Balde.

The Portuguese striker has signed a four-year contract with the Scottish champions, joining from Vitoria Guimaraes.

Balde passed a medical on Wednesday and was unveiled by his new club at a news conference on Thursday evening.

The 22-year-old scored nine goals in 27 appearances for Vitoria last season, helping them to the Portuguese cup in his sole campaign with the club.

Balde started his career with Sporting Lisbon before spending time on loan with Portuguese lower league side Santa Clara and Spanish club Badajoz.

He then played 22 games for Belgians Cercle Brugge in 2011/12, scoring six goals.

Sporting allowed him to join Vitoria on a free at the start of last season and he regularly appeared for his new side, netting nine in 27 league games.

Leandro Bacuna - Aston Villa

0,,10265~12007222,00.jpg

Paul Lambert believes that Leandro Bacuna's energy and versatility will be "a real asset" next season as the Dutch Under-21 international completed a move from FC Groningen.

The 21-year-old wide midfield player put pen to paper on a three-year deal to 2016 and manager Lambert insists he will fit well into his young, emerging side.

"Leandro's energy and versatility will be really good for us," said Lambert.

"He's a good player, he has bags of energy and he will make an impact.

"He's another player we believe will do well for us. He has played in big games and he has lots of experience for a player so young."

Bacuna is an attacking midfield player from Groningen. He made his debut for his hometown team FC Groningen in August 2009, coming on as a substitute against PSV Eindhoven. He has played 126 times for the Euroborg-based club in all competitions, scoring 17 times.

In the 2012/13 season he started 30 times and came on for seven more appearances for Groningen and scored five goals. In 2011/12 he played 33 times with 28 starts and scored seven goals.

He has also played for Holland's prestigious under-21 team 10 times, scoring once against Bulgaria in Maastricht in June 2012.

"It feels great. It's a new beginning for me, a new step and I'm looking forward to being part of this young, hungry team we have at Villa," Bacuna said.

"This is a dream come true for me and also for my parents who are delighted for me. It's a tremendous league to be a part of, the Premier League, and we want to show that Aston Villa can takes its place among the top teams.

"I'm really excited to come here. Villa Park looks magnificent and the training facilities at Bodymoor Heath are first class. I'm really impressed with the set-up here and I'm proud to be a part of this club.

"The manager is trying to create a new generation, to build something here and make a lot of young guys show what they can do. I'm up for the challenge.

"For every player who's coming in, it's good to find themselves in a team and an environment such as this. We will get the opportunity to show that we want to play and what we can do. It's always good to try to better yourself.

"I'm a player who plays box-to-box, I like to run and I look to shoot. Conditioning is a big thing, too, and I look forward to doing my best for Villa.

"As far as heroes are concerned, I have a lot of heroes, people like Messi and Ronaldo. But they are in a different league. Players such as Frank Lampard, they fight and they show themselves and I'm a type of player like that.

"I'm fully focused to show myself at my new club. My mentality is that you start at the bottom and you show yourself. This is what I intend to do."

Are Villa planning to field a U-21 team for the league next season?

Indeed, or U23. Their 3 signings this season are 23, 20 and 21 yrs old. Weimann is still 21 and Benteke's 22. Guzan could be their oldest player at 28.
