We really have had so few quality black players, it's untrue.

I don't wish to re-ignite any 'racism' chat, but the only decent black player we have ever had is Barnes. Everyone else has been fucking shit: Traore, Brains, Diouf, Diao, Song, Eggnog...

Look at United, Arse, Chelsea (and Madrid, Milan, Barca and Inter) - a role call of excellence: Ferdinand, Evra, Henry, Essien, Drogba, Henry, Vieira, Makelele, Gallas, Campbell, Cashley Cole, Desailly, A Cole, Yorke, Anelka

We are cursed

True, but there's an argument that having too many brothers in one side doesn't bode well either.

Look at that Pompey team from two/three years ago. Didn't they put out an all-black eleven at one stage? And now they're broke, are playing in a rundown stadium, have zero finances, and are about to go into administration. Meanwhile, all those same players have left.

Coincidence? I think soooooooooooooo.

Strange one alright, Barnes was my favourite player growing up but we have seen nobody of his quality since then. However alot of the players you listed were out of our price range, hopefully Johnson can put one in the win column for us but it is somewhat bizarre

Heskey, Babb, walters, James...

I remember Slur Alex once quacking on about how the game was changing and teams like Liverpool (were copying Arsenal?) and filling the squad with 'big, atheltic, powerful players' and how big a threat it was to their dominance

That was Houllier's catastrophic Diouf, Diao transfer summer, and look what fucking happened!

Mind you, look at our Brazil/ Argie/ Spanish record - for every one OK player, we sign two mongs

I remember that too. He was implying that every team was trying to sign a Vieira. And he was right too, nearly every club went after a leggy African midfielder for a while. Remember how many Cisse's there used to be?

On a totally different point is it correct to call players like Ferdinand and James etc black considering they have one white parent and one black parent

'Liverpool's first black player went on to a starring role in Eastenders, before embarking on a short-lived music career...' is what it doesn't say on Wikipedia.

[/quote]Lol.

I look forward to page 6 of this thread when someone claims "Pongolle wasn't bad, good impact player...".

"Tell you what, I'd have him ahead of N'Gog any day" is probably only 2-3 pages away as well.
