hope it was a small minority. Please say it was
It was but because it was not a vocal crowd, it stood out and it was everytime he touched the ball. Fucking no nothing idiots.
I thought it wouldnt bother me, but it did.

It was terrible.

Initially it was really loud, but I think it got a little better and he got a good bit of applause when he played some good touches.

I cant stand seeing him at the Scum, but it was horrible seeing him get booed like that after all he'd done for us.

I was actually hoping he'd get subbed off at halftime so i wouldnt have to hear it anymore.

and he was.

Owen played because one of his best friends asked him to. And Carra made it clear he didn't want the crowd to boo.

Conclusion: the people who booed are fucking cunts

Exactly.

The way I see it, if Owen would have stuck a hose from the exhaust of his Bentley into the drivers side window while the car was in an enclosed environment like he should have the day he signed for the scum, then no-one would have being booing him. So really, it's his own fault.

I would agree with this.

Ros, The game was not about Michael Owen. It was clearly about Jamie Carragher. Jamie Carragher wanted Owen to play. So to boo his guest is like booing Carra.

I don't get this super-liverpool fan thing.

Him leaving to Madrid on the cheap was the only thing he did that could make some feel angry. He has paid dearly for that, and as far as far as i'm concerned that is water under the bridge. I respect him for the 150+ goals he scored for us, and the role he played in keeping liverpool near the top of the table while he played for us. He came through the ranks and played near 10 years for us and gave us his best.

I can't give a shit about who he plays for now. We are not and we were never interested in signing him after he left us. He chose the best possible option available for him.

Incidentally, after a couple of weeks have passed since, i don't have a problem with Masher leaving as well. I would have done the same if i had a personal reason to move away from the city. He sacrificed a year for the good of the club, and when it appeared the club was going to ask for one more year, he did what he did to engineer a move away. I think, i can understand that.

To hate these guys now seems a bit petty.

If he had to spend a year away from his wife because of being in England, then he will surely consider at as a year wasted. May be his wife threatened to file for divorce if he continued to play in England. Do we really know what personal situation he was in, to judge him as judas? I would be appalled if Masher gets booed on his return. Some people were quick to forgive Riera because he wrote a nice letter. Masher did his talking on the pitch and ultimately left because of family problems. He doesn't deserve the shit that is being thrown at him.

The family problems he now says were 'lies'?

There was nothing wrong with him wanting to be with his family; I've said that many times...and I know a good bit of what it feels like.

But he shafted our club to get it.

That is undeniable, case closed and is all I will remember of him.

So as always, he can go fuck himself.

As for Owen, I was really bothered by all the booing he got; I just wanted to remember him the way I always did..in our colours, not the Scum Red..I'm sickened seeing him there, but there#s no way I could boo Owen after what he'd done for this club.

Even if I was very upset with how it had all panned out.

I remember many arguments with Wizardry on whether we should get him back; I was of the view that it would have been riduculous to buy Owen back at 12 million plus when we'd sold him for 8..we'd have looked like the Mugs of Europe.then of course the Toon came in and that was that.

That didnt work out too well tho, a succession of inferior strikers (bar Torres)...and we still look like the Mugs of Europe.

Would I boo Masher?

Probably not, but I do have a problem with him leaving..

As I said, Owen never refused to play for us to force a move.

How did masher shaft us? He waited a year to be close to his family...that is more than most of you on this forum would agree for, if it was a personal issue.

It's alleged he refused to play. He denies that and the "Echo" confirmed his version.

It's also being alleged that he said the rumours about his family were lies. He did not, notwithstanding the insistence of too many on here to the contrary. What he actually said was something quite different, namely that he was promised a move 12 months ago, that he was therefore expecting to move anyway, that his family problems were a separate issue and that the club was misleading in drawing attention to them alone.

If he never refused to play then we were a bit silly to accept 19.2 million pounds for him, wouldnt you say Jules?

Guess that makes Hodgson a liar, or senile if he refused to play Mascher when he was ever ready, willing and able to kiss the badge and fight for the cause.

For some of us, it actually was a personal issue.

I lost out on a few months pay because I didnt want to suddenly leave them in the lurch when I left for Norwich in July.

Seeing some comments on here, I guess it was pretty stupid of me since it's not really shafting.

The fact is, he wanted out and didnt care how he got it.

The fact that we were our customary bumbling selves when it came to transfers merely made it easier for him.

Julian you really do need to keep up. Read Mascher's interview slagging the club off for lieing about him. By saying now that his leaving had nothing to do with him family, he is practically admitting that he shafted us.

Roy told the truth at the time, Avvy. He said Masher's head wasn't right and that that was why he hadn't picked him. It's for Roy to explain how that squares with his subsequent reference to "selfishness" on Masher's part (which lit the blue touchpaper on all this and was entirely unnecessary, especially seeing as Masher had already gone, whatever view one chooses to take of Masher's conduct earlier).

Roy told the story that would be easiest to live with should a hitch arise in the Mascherano transfer, if he had come out and said he refused to play and Mascherano ended up hanging around how would the relationship be ?

He did with Insua back in August too.
